      @@biomei.solutions Where do you get your liquid humic acid? Can you mix dry humic acid with water first? Or just use dry weight?

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  4 місяці тому

      So what you do is add 1 part dry humid to 10 parts vinegar for 7days. Then strain it. This is now water soluble

    coffee grounds seem like they would work as well. high nitrogen and such. fungi love coffee grounds.

    Wow, thank you so much. The best IMO/KNF videos I have seen, by far. I just binged on the whole series. These techniques are key to my startup that will hopefully get off the ground next year. The last thing I need is good clean compost on a decent sized scale (a few yards a month once things get rolling) in the shortest time frame. I'm hoping to take some version of IMO, not sure which would be best and use it maybe with a combo of bokashi to speed along the composting of fresh wood chips. I hesitate to use manure because of the prevalence of herbicides in the area and have already had a problem with contamination. I can get plenty of fresh wood chips but probably not ideal nitrogen content to mix directly with IMO 5. I'm open to the idea of starting a solider fly farm since I already have poultry, just not on a large enough scale (1 acre AG/Res land) to make ample material nor inputs for the larvae to eat in the first place. Not much to go on for cheap/free material in bulk that's unlikely to be contaminated so I'm going to have to make to chips work. Maybe a combination of some sort? Maybe add in a quick, dense crop like sunn hemp? Any ideas? Side note: Please share some of that bio-knowledge I can tell you have ready to spill out, I was excited to see the screenshot of the microscope slide, I thought there would be some in the videos. Thanks again, keep up the excellent work.

      +sspike631 Super cool to hear all that you are hoping and planning to do! IMO3 or 4 would be awesome for helping decompose wood chips. Bokashi might help, but is far better for dealing with nitrogen or applying directly into an agricultural operation as it is light the on fungi you will need to break down the chips... So for your described operation I would skip Bokashi (though its is cool stuff). Any green waste can serve as a 'green manure' for your compost, it is all dependent on your ratios of material. If you are using low nitrogen green waste then you might use something like 50% green 50% wood for a static pile (one you set and forget). If you are using a high nitrogen green waste like sun hemp then you might increase that to 30% green 70% wood for a static pile (no turn). If you plan to turn daily then you can lower the wood chips and increase the green. Ealine Ingham has some good information on these ratios I am referring to. Did that answer your question. Let me know if it didn't and I can try to help. BTW chicken coop floor clean out can be your high nitrogen material. poop + wood chips + IMO = some great soil amendment.
      Keep up the good work man!

      Very helpful, thank you for replying. I am currently cultivating IMO 1 and plan to make LIMO from IMO 2 and apply it to the chips after I run them back through a chipper/shredder with some nitrogen material. LIMO would be quicker and easier for me to produce and apply, I'm just not certain of its effectiveness compared to IMO 3/4? I didn't know about the Bacterial/Fungal ratio and how it impacts different ecosystems, only that trees need beneficial fungi, microbes for veggies and that fungus breaks down cellulose. I need to look into this way more as I have just scratched the surface. Particularly I am wondering about this ratio and where I take my IMO samples from. If I sample from a mature forest then I should be getting about 1:10 ratio which would be great for trees, either growing or decomposing them but not so much for a veggie garden. Does this mean I should have separate samplings (not intended for the composting operation) from a less developed biosphere closer to 1:1 if I intend to use the final products (sos,imo,etc..) in a garden setting? Basically, How can I balance the fungal dominated compost that I will end up with so it's more hospitable to veggies and maintain that over time? I found copies of Master Cho's Recipe Book and a ton of repeat info on the web, do you know of a good online source that lays out a good bit of KNF all in one? I have already been to NaturalFarmingHawaii.net and a few others. I am very interested in the what, why and how; rather than just copying processes. I will even take scholarly sources if you have them.
      Thanks again. Keep up the videos, keep changing the world. -Mark

    Hi Chris, I am in charge of an organic community garden. We have a big mosaic virus issue which is infecting our beautiful zucchinis, squashes, cucumbers and tomatoes. I am having problems finding solutions to this virus. I'm wondering if making the IMOs will fend off this nasty virus.
    I already made FFJ w sweet potato vines!

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  7 років тому +3

      +Julia Jackson awesome to hear about your garden :) I have seen these viruses completely knocked out with one application of foliar liquid IMO. You could apply solid IMO at planting and it would prevent this... but at this point I think you need foliar. You can make liquid IMO like I show in my video on liquid imo, but you can shave some time ( cheat ) by just using strait forest leaf mold as the inoculant ( in place of 'IMO' though that is what leaf mold from your area is). So brew some up and call me in the morning ;) Make sure to apply in the late afternoon.

      Chris Trump you likely already have but have you read Radical Mycology by Peter McCoy - it connects to what you are doing, I think you'd love it, and you could expand what you are doing as well I'd wager with what Peter has compiled. It's the most thorough book on mycology available.

    I am an agronomic soil scientist. A word of caution about aqueous vegetative extracts "compost tea". First: the finish extract contains very little, if any, nutrient value in lab analysis. When compared to groups receiving an equal amount of water on the same schedule the two groups are indistinguishable. Secondly: these malto-lactic fermented solutions can be dangerous. E. coli, salmonella and even cholera have been incubated this way with deadly consequences in Korea and Taiwan.

    Which is better IMO4 or IMO5?

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  6 років тому +2

      Aloha Tea Vbh, it isn’t a matter of one being “better” it is more a question of what do you need for what you are growing. IMO5 is just IMO4+a high nitrogen. IMO5 is very helpful if you are looking to prepare you land for a plant with a significant nitrogen demand, like a tomato or a corn. They are tools, one day you need a hammer another day you need a sledgehammer, one isn’t better :) I hope that helps! Let me know if that answers your question :)

    if i cannot get sea water can i use sea salt dissolved in RO water? if yes what is dilution rate. Thank you

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  8 років тому +3

      +Sushil Wankar I don't know what "RO water" is, but yes you can emulate sea water by dissolving approximately 35 grams of sea salt per liter of water or approximately 4 oz. of sea salt per gallon of water.

    • @sdkhjlhdsduiuiuiui
      @sdkhjlhdsduiuiuiui 7 років тому +1

      RO is Reverse Osmosis water. And... I thought the point of using sea water was to inoculate with microbes from the sea?
      Great videos!

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  7 років тому +1

      +J sorry I missed your original comment. Yes it is one of the reasons of using sea water, there are some great microbes in the ocean. However, if I read your comment correctly you asked what to do if you can't get sea water... you don't need RO water though, just no chlorine or chloramine. If you can't get sea water then dissolve 1gram sea salt per 1 liter and use that as your 'sea water'. The sea water also is used by the IMO to do their processes and multiply, so still do this step even if you have to 'make you own sea water'.
      Let me know how you do :)

    • @sdkhjlhdsduiuiuiui
      @sdkhjlhdsduiuiuiui 7 років тому +2

      Well the original comment wasnt made by me, so its alright :P
      As for my actual question, thanks! This was what I wanted to know: "sea water is used by the IMO to do their processes and multiply". In my quest to go away from bottle nutrients I've come to the understanding that salts were evil.
      For now I'm still in the process of learning the basics, just playing around using simple fpj/faa as foliar/drench. And the only MO I've are LAB. More of a notill garden than a pure knf.
      So I'm trying to get it all straight to go full Cho for the summer crop.

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  7 років тому +1

      J awesome man. Keep asking questions :) and great job getting the FPJ & FAA going. Fermented sea Water = L.A.B. 1:1000, FPJ 1:500, SW 1:30 mix ingredients and leave breathable for 24 hours, then apply foliar or drench.

      +Chetan panja yes, usually only 10% if you are making IMO5 with manure. If you are making it with fish waste you can probably use a little bit more. Maybe 20-30%, but be careful to not over do it.

  • @robertturner7715

    Can you dissolve this in water and spray it on? Or is this a true soil based amendment?

    • @biomei.solutions
      @biomei.solutions  7 років тому +1

      +Robert Turner you can try. Be careful though this is most likely going to be a high nitrogen material, it will get funky in water if left very long or without oxygen. If you apply it to the soil it is a rate between 330-600lb per acre.
