They were really overacting. There were too many huge hand and facial motions and it took part of the comedy away. DEH is a modern piece with 'norma'l characters and they aren't mean to be blown to quite this extreme. Also, it was kind of obvious that they were struggling to hit some of the notes. But it had potential! Keep growing.

Bella Grace also, she made Connor like he was /there/, looking over at Jared and Evan while they were bickering and looking at the laptop during Evans part... not to be elitist but if I were there I'd think Connor was there and writing the emails with them

Bella Grace the scene is actually very overacted in the musical itself. Especially Connor. The scene will never be like in the musical and any differences are likely them taking creative liberties with their work. I always love to see how different people would act out something. The actors were very good and in high school theatre being able to sing the song is insignificant to being able to act it out.
