I need you to stop blaming Nintendo. Blame the investors, execs, and shareholders. They make most of the actual creative decisions, and one of those is to make the game easier for first-time players. It’s been 11 years since Pikmin 3, so of course we’d have a little refresher. Do I need it? No. Either way, the game’s still alright. (Doesn’t beat 1 or 2)
@@keeganmcfarland7507 Please tell me HOW the publishers of the game or localizers have anything to do with this? Do you know almost anything about game design? I agree, it wasn’t difficult, but it was meant to be beginner friendly for a reason. Publishers literally only publish a game on a storefront, while localizers translate and change a few things. The gameplay and locations are unchanged in the English translation.
Pikmin 4 was surprisingly long too. It took me and other people I saw 40+ hours to 100% it, which to be fair, other games are quite long when you’re trying to get 100%, but in Pikmin 4’s case, getting 100% felt like the way you were meant to play it rather than an insane grind for every collectible.
I remember a day or two before the game released, I was getting news articles on Pikmin 4 fans taking over Times Square. You can tell we wanted a new game.
‘Not very replayable’ is a SHOCKING issue to have, because one of my biggest praises for the game is how replayable it is. Have you tried speedrunning it? Because TRUST ME the game gets like a million times more engaging when you do (which is saying a lot since it’s already so great as you said.) You could try a no-Oatchi run, an Oatchi-only run. You could do a run where you only use items against enemies, not to mention all the other challenge runs the other games let you do like extinction or pacifist runs. The game gives you a TON of freedom to handle things in your own way, it’s just… too easy for you to really experience any of them on a normal Playthrough. But being burnt out from Pikmin is TOTALLY valid, stuff like that happens all the time for me. Take a break and when you return you’ll probably feel more interested in it again!
Needs DLC. Also needs to add all the missing enimies, flush out the ones we have correctly (looking at you puffstool), and add difficulty settings/mob respawn. Wouldnt hurt to have a new game + or rebalance where you find certain upgrades and onions too
@WigwamMan I do hope at the minimum we get DLC, New Game +, and Difficulty settings. For whatever reason, Nintendo just LOVES leaving money on the table. If they would take the time to read their fans reactions after a game launch, they could easily capitalize on what they want and make another $30+ on all of those same customers.
Yeah, I also have issues with Pikmin 4 that hold me back from putting it as my favorite Pikmin game. There are some weird decisions and some design choices that, while they are not objectively wrong, are just not my preference. There were also many new innovations: night missions, upgrade trees, side quests, integrating side modes in main story, Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, moving the base locations, flarlics, auto lock on... some of the ideas worked and some did not. And some design choices suit different people better than others. But at the end of the day, the game was ambitious in size and scope; it delivered an experience that was true to the Pikmin series and still tried to innovate the series in a number of ways like those listed above. I find myself very satisfied with this wonderful game that had so much love put into it, even if not everything in it is perfectly suited to my taste.
Pikmin 4 was my personal goty for 2023, and is my favorite pikmin game in the series. While I understand people who may find the game too easy, pikmin was never really about challenge to me. I simply have a fun time just going on autopilot and well, playing pikmin. I never do any crazy self-imposed challenges for pikmin like I do for some of my other favorite games, because just playing pikmin normally while trying to go faster and faster each time is plenty fun for me. It's not that I don't enjoy challenge, like I said I love doing self-imposed challenges in other games, but pikmin is just different for me. Pikmin 4 did everything it needed to and more in my eyes. Sure, I have a few problems with the game but it was never enough to distract me from what made the game so great. I thought it improved heavily on pikmin 2's caves, had an amazing story that was a reimagining of the events of pikmin 1 which I thought was really cool to see, brought back so many enemies that I never thought we would ever see again, made the challenge mode part of the main game which allowed many more players to experience the fun that is dandori, added night expeditions, and had amazing level design all the way through.
Pikmin 4 made me realize it's time to finally grow up and move on from modern Nintendo, they don't make games for people wanting actual challenge anymore. I'll surely go back and replay their older classics, maybe pick up a remaster of an older game or two, but Pikmin 4 was the final straw for me, I waited too long for something that really wasn't ever going to be for me.
I feel the same way about Pikmin 4 and the Pikmin community. it's been awesome to watch all the new Pikmin content that's come out since Pikmin 4's announcement! (the one in 2022 not 2015 lol) I think for Pikmin 4 in particular, not wanting to playing through it multiple times even as a superfan of Pikmin is normal. Unlike the first 3 games, Pikmin 4 has no leaderboards or high score feature for the main campaign. you can't even rewind days like in Pikmin 3. Nintendo designed the game to be played once with Challenges, Battles and Shipwreck Tale being the parts you replay for a better score
I 100% and have 50 hours in this game, I wouldn’t have spend it anywhere else. Although I do have some issues with the game (auto lock is actually not even a problem for me surprisingly) this game was my favourite experience out of all the Pikmin games I have played so far (3 is still on my bucket list) When the fifth game comes out, which is inevitable, these are the things. I hope they re-work. 1: I shouldn’t have the feeling that when I’m using rocks that the game only wants me to use them for five minutes and then I get back into the main area and never use them again, 20 years and purples still don’t have a proper obstacle, doesn’t help that there’s only two treasures that weigh more than 100 in the entire game, every type should have purpose then just existing. 2: the wasted potential of a ice hazard, this has been in the talk since the 3th and hey! Pikmin came out, yeah, the way they made It just left a sour taste in my mouth. No custom enemies for this new hazard and just re-skins. Snowy blow hog and icy bulborb are perfect. I don’t see any problem with them. Chilly hop and Icy blow hog are wasted enemy slots. If anything, the withering blow hog should’ve got the ice effect instead of puffy, being unable to kill for the second time. 3: ice Pikmin. As much I hate to say it, these are my least favourite type in the entire franchise. their design is awkward with them, having normal abortions of a Pikmin, and being a made of ice. which doesn’t flow well with rocks. Not to mention, they’re the only type in the franchise to literally just be the element they’re supposed to be immune to which rubs off on me in the wrong way. (i’m going to mention why does the parasite inside need the ice to survive the cold, if it survives being in ice) Their abilities feel incomplete with them, relying too much on the ability to freeze, which can be already done with a freezing ice blast which replaces them. It felt like they were going somewhere and they were going to have a second type building on the elemental Pikmin idea (magma or something like that) but nothing. The only way to make them feel complete is to add a gigantic addition, make them turn into goo pikmin when they melt, i’m not the first one to come up with this idea, but they feel so unfinished that becoming a pseudo type, feels like the only proper thing to do with them. (Just a little bit of notes on how I would’ve changed them) being straight up Ice just can’t work, we have hair on Purples, why not fur on cyan? 3-D boy came up with a good idea for an ice resistant Pikmin, now i’m going to reworked it with the idea of fur coming in mind. what if they have a chance to be coughed up because their hairy coat? Being able to conduct static electricity to stun enemies temporarily? Keeping other types warm in the cold? what if they could be immune to wind due to their coat? (getting rid of purples immunity to wind wouldn’t hurt them that badly) There’s so many ideas and potential for a frosty Pikmin and they went for a solid chunk of ice. as much as I’m playing this as bad, i’m not going to deny it’s cute and charming. I just wish they went with an overall better premise than a solid piece of ice. Thank you for listening to me ramble About my thoughts and issues with Pikmin 4, don’t let this stop you from liking the game or even ice Pikmin. have a good night or day. I love this game and I think ice min are decent.
Imagine if pikmin 5 pulls a “EVERYONE IS HERE” and has ever character, pikmin type, enemy, and boss Including ones from hey pikmin and pikmin adventure (Nintendo land)
Pikmin 4 was great but I was really upset about the lack of multiplayer content. Its easy to shit on Pikmin 3 but its multiplayer has created so many memories with my brother which is something Pikmin 4 will never do. I always hated the awful multiplayer in Super Mario Galaxy and this game was just a repeat of that.
honestly my first playthrough of the game was just surreal lol, I followed the community starting at the announcement until it came out and finally being able to play the game in its entirety was so weird to me, like, it felt like I was in a parallel universe or something lol I think the game itself wraps up perfectly but when I finished it all i could think was just "that's it?" A lot of the added length of the game feels so artificial too. Once you got 100 pikmin the areas felt super small and easy to go through. I still can’t believe enemies don’t respond in levels. Even though this game has the most zones in the series. once you get to blossoming Arcadia, the game constantly repeats the same set pieces over and over again. I never want to burn haystack or build bridges again lol
Pikmin 4 to me was, a thing. It was my 2nd pikmin game ive ever player(the first was 3 deluxe)and i have 165+ hours in the game. I wouldnt have found Wigwam or any other Pikmin creator out there, if not for Pikmin 4.
It feels like Pikmin 4 is somehow both the best and worst game in the series at the same time. It's got such areas, enemies and at least a few memorable caves, as well as night missions and pretty tough Dandori challenges. But unlike the other games in the series I've had absolutely no reason to replay it. Doing a deathless run just wouldn't be a challenge with rewind time and Oatchi, there's no real local multiplayer (pebble pitcher is just baby mode), and there's several annoying quirks that make gameplay just slightly annoying.
I realy love Pikmin 4, even if I only did 1 playtrough. I don't mind they made it easier or more open for new player. It's what the serie needed. Pikmin was to much niche. If we wanted a Pikmin 5 or the series to survive, its what we needed for pikmin 4 to sell. I'm pretty sure with all the sell, price they won for the game(they even got a trophy in game of the years event), we gonna get pikmin 5 way more quick then 4. Anyway , what I just wanted to say, it's yeah the game have flaws, but some are not a bad thing.
I replayed Pikmin 4 like 6 times already. Doing NOTHING?! Why do you even like Pikmin if you think you do nothing in it?😂 It has flaws but compared to all other games it seems pretty much the same just a lot more of it with way better design. But who am I to tell you how to feel if lock on messed up your game twice or three times.
the tutorial is a whole lot of nothing, and it drags throughout the entire first area which takes a long time and isnt that interesting, that alone turns me away from even bothering again
@@WigwamMan They put multiple cutscenes into one. So you skip like 10 in the beginning. And then in the area you skip like 6 or 7 I assume. In the end you have 5 and a half areas only normal Pikmin style gameplay plus nightmode in 5 areas only normal Pikmin style gameplay whilst the rest is interrupted by a few cutscenes. So stop using that as an excuse for not wanting to play the game or stop using the white pikmin as a profile picture.
personally pikmin 2>4>1>3 but none of the games are bad I just prefer the ruthlessness of caves in pikmin 2 and in general in pikmin 1(plus nostalgia), but the qol changes for pikmin 4(minus the lineup trumpet being a late game item) and graphics put 4 slightly above 1 imo
Pikmin 4 is easily one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. It’s just as great if not probably even better than Pikmin 3 imo. I played Pikmin 3 on the Wii U when I was 7 or 8 and Pikmin 4 wouldn’t come out until 16 days after my 16th birthday. I preordered it and played it day one right after watching Oppenheimer in the theaters (I would watch Barbie 4 days later). I still haven’t 100% the game but I can say with certainty that the game is a masterpiece and lived up to expectations after waiting a whole decade. It is definitely my game of the year 2023 and will forever go down in history as a monumental title not just in the series but Nintendo in general!
I feel like I'm the only Pikmin fan who is a little disappointed by Pikmin 4, yeah it's still a good game and it's the longest one in the series, but there's a lot of things about it that just make it less fun than the other three games. I also think it's the least replayable one.
pikmin 4 is just too easy for me to stomach a bunch of content, like my brain just goes on autoplay until I find a new area and I wish there were more things to turn my brain back on, like you cant just go into a cave brain off and get fucked over by something because you already know whats going on. Even with the sumberged castle callback I wasnt put on my toes because there was close to nothing to fuck me over. I didnt even encounter the water dude until the purple unlock. It doesnt even help that the prebuilt caves arent too interesting either, there were some highlightss though like when the skitter Leafs all fell from the sky and that might just be what pikmin 4s caves need, just a bunch of random bullshit falling from the sky.
Nintendo games as of lately have terrible replayability. Even Hey! and 2 have better replayability (yes, I said it) than 4. Still, Pikmin 4 has great moments like: exploring the Serene Shores for the first time, the Man-at-Legs battles, several sublevels of the Below-grade Discotheque, the Dream Home, etc. But I feel that it makes the dumbest decisions and most glaring mistakes out of all Pikmin games: unlockable controls (swarming, helping hand, I'm looking at you), auto lock-on, several unlockables requiring to be unlocked too late in the game (and therefore you have almost nothing to do with them), NO ENEMY RESPAWN ARE YOU SERIOUS?, cheap purchasable items so broken that you *have* to refrain yourself from using them if you are interested in... playing the game normally and last but not least, Oatchi himself becoming so broken that not even *not* using said broken items allow you to enjoy the game's (actually great) improved combat and enemy AIs. Nintendo are the kings of gameplay, how did they get this so wrong? All the while re-releasing the original GameCube games to make it all more obvious. And btw, Pikmin 1 on Switch flows smooth as butter, it's the game's greatest version.
@@WigwamMan yep, much less dialogue and some actual challenge if you ignore the broken items Olimars shipwreck tales and the Sage Leaf Trials were nice too Everything before that though... Pretty wack. 4 could've been the best Pikmin game if it kept that post credits pace from the get-go

I'm pretty sure with all the sell, price they won for the game(they even got a trophy in game of the years event), we gonna get pikmin 5 way more quick then 4.
Anyway , what I just wanted to say, it's yeah the game have flaws, but some are not a bad thing.
I actually think it was as good as Pikmin 2! Maybe even Hey! Pikmin!
@@WigwamMan it‘s called the plus button
skipping 50 cutscenes with minimal gameplay is not fun
Hell yes, pikmin 2 is just so good.
On live streams how do you get the Pikmin at the bottom
I feel like I'm the only Pikmin fan who is a little disappointed by Pikmin 4, yeah it's still a good game and it's the longest one in the series, but there's a lot of things about it that just make it less fun than the other three games. I also think it's the least replayable one.
Also more difficulty
@@DraakoBoy Nah, Pikmin 4 is one of the easier ones.
@@prestonandtom9337 yeah ik easiest out of all I'm saying it need more difficulty
@@DraakoBoy I'd argue 3 Deluxe is easier because 4 did have a couple somewhat difficult moments.
@@prestonandtom9337 fair enough I personally only played 3 on Wii u edition and heard switch edition was even easier lol but yeah I guess I can agree
Based. I'm also in the same boat.
Ur first vid is pvz heroes? That’s a long shot from pikimin lore and stuff
waiting for rhythm heaven to get this treatment
pikmin 4 is just too easy for me to stomach a bunch of content, like my brain just goes on autoplay until I find a new area and I wish there were more things to turn my brain back on, like you cant just go into a cave brain off and get fucked over by something because you already know whats going on.
Pikmin 2 is the best
For reals
lack of good story? Pikmin 4 is probably the game that has the most interesting story of the franchise imo :o
I still prefer pikmin 3 on the wii u over any other game.
same for me but with pikmin 2
I agree! It feels like switch games are just a one time thing now, it sucks.
I never got the complaint about items when they are completely optional to the player and don't have to be purchased
The only reason I don’t like pikmin is the pikmin AI it honestly sucks
pikmin 4 is a great game, it isnt perfect but i genuinely dont think i can call it bad
Absolutely
Letdown of a game tbh
Game only got good when Louie was introduced

That did feel like when the game REALLY Started. Post game was definetly best
@@WigwamMan yep, much less dialogue and some actual challenge if you ignore the broken items
Olimars shipwreck tales and the Sage Leaf Trials were nice too
Everything before that though... Pretty wack. 4 could've been the best Pikmin game if it kept that post credits pace from the get-go
It’s better than 2
