If most of the people freakin out about a 4 piece top obviously know very little about guitar building as if there has never 4 pc tops befor, or 5 or 6 for that matter. Pianos.. n other stringed instruments have more and have had less. I bought this very guitar at the upper bout in Champaign Illinois and ive been playing more than 38 of my 53 years on earth and havent put this guitar down since bringing it home 9-1-2023 and today is 9-5-2023. I kid you not... im off all this week n dont have to b back at work until 9-11-2023. This is a great acustic guitar. Most comfortable to hold n play ive ever exsperienced thanks to its design and it was specially designed to be comfortable to hold not to mention the tone n the natural volume this guitar projects is absolutely rediculious. I czant believe how much of a difference the full bevel arm rest makes n its a MASSIVE difference, thats how im able to play for 5 days straight from the time i get up to wheni fall asleep playing it in bed! Nothing to dig in your strumming arm to make it fall asleep or just annoy the crap out of your arm. The only 1 COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THAT ITS SO FKIN BEAUTIFUL IM ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED OF GETTING THE SLIGHTEST NICK ON IT. LOL this thing is a real true piece of art.... if im not playing... bc im eating ect im just staring at it.. its that beautiful. Sounds, plays feel s outta this world! Ill never ever sell it. EVER! I never thought in a million years id ever spend that kinda money on an acustic let alone on an electric but the second i played the 1st chord on it i knew i was in deep deep $#!% 😂 so i put 2000 down, 2 weeks later some more n then 2 weeks later paid it off. It wass the only one in the city. And the upper bout guys told me how the phones been ringing off the hook people asking if they have 1 there, n when i made my last payment n it was in the case at my feet as i was making that last payment this guy walks in and asked the owner, hey you guys got that Taylor 814ec grand auditorium builders edition? And the owner look at me n pointed at my feet to the Taylor case n he say ya, its right there n he just bought it. Lol the look on the dudes face, looked at me like we were in a bar n i had his X girlfriend. I felt so lucky n so blessed..... and i am, so glad, so happy i put the 2 grand down that day bc their selling like hot cakes bc this guitar is GREAT. Id suggest to anyone who is serious and is thinking about buying 1 do so.. do it quickly bc the price is gonna go up! I got a great deal on mine. The guys at THE UPPER BOUT in Champaign Illinois are great n they will work with you! They carry only the great stuff.. PRS.. TAYLOR, MARTIN, GIBSON, MUSIC MAN, G&L, they are not like guitar center, or the big box stores..... everyones cool, everyone plays.. they dont breath down yr neck or pressure you to buy anything or any certain brand. They are local guys n so is the owner of the store n i support local shops! Number 1 bc their not jerks, n 2 they got quality stuff. If your ever in Champaign Illinois check them out youll b blown away on there stuff compared to all them corporate jokers that dont give 2 blanks about YOU. Peace uot gotta get back 2 playing!
I've watched a number of reviews on the 814 builders addition and love this guitar... very very nice and sounds great. The 4 piece top does not concern me. I could barely see the seams on most of the other reviews, and maybe it's the lighting, but it's really noticeable on this one.

4 piece Adirondack top on a factory mass produced Taylor. Leave the exotic woods to custom shop small production acoustics. The appointments on builder’s edition are nice, the 4 piece top is a disappointment imho.

Verynice guitar I like everything except for the pick up I wish they came out witj Lr bagss or no pick up at all so I choose the pick up that I want. . No doubt sounds good unplugged
Setup? I thought Taylor guitars were perfect and need no set up. Am I missing something?
Every guitar needs a setup. Shipping alone will skew it.
4 piece top, satin finish, no real binding means Taylor innovation? NO! It means cost cutting and hyped marketing by Andy Powers and Taylor. Mark my words, Taylor will re-introduce standard X-bracing as a "custom shop special $500 upgrade" I have a V-Brace 914CE and it just sucks. Flat tone and WAY overpriced.
