In this video we begin to share with you our process for choosing a house in The Villages, FL. We discuss the different series of homes, preowned vs. new and type of construction. Thank you for your service to our country!! This summer we bought a small courtyard villa in the Spanish springs area and will be relocating mid to late September Not sure at this point if we will add on to it, or rent it out and purchase another. As for the newer houses, we didn't like the new areas as they are to far away from everything especially the golf courses. Another issue is the Tax mill rates. There are 5 different in the villages with Sumter county being the least and the new area (Lake county) being the most expensive. One other consideration as well is the bonds. The tax rates and bonds are big considerations and we will talk more about that when we discuss areas in a few videos from now. Sounds like you all have a great place to start your Villages Journey and really have a chance to get to know the area. We love Spanish Springs; especially the mature landscaping and beautiful trees. So where is the Polish Pottery on your bookcase? (.....just some proof you have had a couple of tours to Germany😅!) Good to know about the differences of houses. One key point I learned was if you want used, try for a newer build resale home rather than a subtaintially older home. Q: Will you use a moving company or do a ditty move? Ditty moves may be cheaper but far more costly on the old body with aches and pains. What is your time frame for your final leg of your move? Thanks for sharing.
Polish Pottery...so you are Bona Fide Germany veterans! We do have our collection but I think it is all in the kitchen; April takes care of that be we sure do have some. Great advice on finding the newer build resales, really appreciate it. After our final move at retirement from the Army we are super gun shy about movers; by far the worst. We plan to take a few small Uhauls down over the next several months to preposition stuff in storage near The Villages and then the final large truck we plan to get a Uhaul and hire loaders and unloaders at origin and destination. So technically a Modified Ditty move I guess. Most people reading that comment won't know what we are talking about but that's alright. What did or are you all planning to do to transport your stuff? As of now our timeline is to start house hunting in February and transition as soon as the house is ready. Hope your Lifestyle Visit comes through and if you like The Villages when do you think you all will transition? Oh, so Army, Air Force or ??? Are Dabney all precast homes or is it just the premium ho.es.
Thanks for your questions and no, there are precast, block and frame built homes in Dabney. From what I have seen in The Enclave (premium homes) they were all block homes, but that has been a couple of months.
