    *Got this rod today it looks **enjoyable.fishing** recommend and feels pretty decent, nice guides and very light. Can’t wait to use it. I picked up the 6,6 one.*

    As a newbie to fishing but experienced in other hobbies, it seems the angling industry has created many many different bits of kit marketed as all very niche and specific. Where one or two rods would fill all your needs, they tell you that you need one for every different use case and for sure they will sell you them.

    I was using basic 11ft fibre glass rods and casting 90yrds+ over 40yrs ago before the carp scene started. Then "They" told you you must have 12ft' 2.5's (now it's even worse).
    It's the action of the rod which is key, more than the test curve.
    The most important thing is use a rod you can handle. The tribal XT 2.75 or Greys 3.00 I use get me 130yds comfortable and feel as good as anything else...

    hi, can you explain (13' 3/6 TC FA DL) mark on the rod. Is it 3.5lb Fast Action? (shimano Catana)

    I have a Nash Scope 10 ft 3.5 test curve carp rod. Will it still be ok to cast with a 3oz weight or do I need to use a 4oz-6oz? Would a 3.5 cast further then a 10ft 3.0 test curve? My setup is 30lb power pro braid and 3oz weight with a shimano ultegra 5500.

    x2 Diaflash Shimano 3lb test curve - me - brilliant rods although ages old now - safe & cool - Shimano big up ! ! ! !
    Tight lines mes amis :-) :-) le lapin ! - however not my trade but still good fun ! - especially margin work for 20lb (specimen)
    Carp ! - ALL my Respects x z due - in my prayersxz - MHz ... DJ ... Forever fishing ! lol ! ... ... ... ...

    All through action(s) - chilvarlous on the carp (i.e. obviously as you & team know ... stops hook tears etc ... ) - BUT ...
    casting distance is sometimes slightly problematic ! ...can't handle heavy in line leads / helicopter rig heavy leads etc ...
    I have tried, well attempted, to try ... shock leader etc ... like akin to sea beach casting (not a sinner) ... NO ! worries though !
    English Rainbow Trout = Angels + with Brown trout being 'sinners' - Sorry I shall remember The CODE ... safe & cool ...! ... ... ... ...
    Shame House of Hardy closed down in Pall Mall London - Farlows is just as good - well great m8 ! - Greys blanks are o.k. ! !!!!!!!!
    ALL the best - Mega ! ! ! ! ! carpe diem - seize the day ! - & Screaming reels ! - Cathedral o.k. !!!! ... ... ... ... Thanksxz for posting !

    Can u still have fun playing a carp on 3lb and be able to feel the power of the fish without having all the fun taken out of it

    Thanks for explaining something for newcomers like me & then using sooooo many other terminologies that I don’t understand. Layman’s terms would be better. Still not really understanding exactly what these figures mean or how they are actually defined/measured.

      This vid is not good the info in it is not very good. The TC of the rod is not the only thing to do with the range it will cast, its down to the action of the rod as well. have a read of this facebook.com/TerryEdmondsLongRangeAngler/posts/understanding-carp-rods-obviously-in-any-form-of-fishing-theres-much-more-to-it-/348335311937217/.

      Marcus Hertz Hertz No, Yan Porter. He passed away a few years back. A very successful course match angler who then retired from tiddler bashing to go on to mud pigging.

    Oh my....this guy has no clue what's the difference between test curve and rod action. :))

    • @ianburrows861
      @ianburrows861 6 років тому

      I agree bro!
      The 'Test Curve' is the weight required to bend the rod through 90 degrees. The 'Action' is the speed at which the rod returns to straight after being under load, ie after casting!!!

      This guy has forgotten more about rod actions and test curves than you will probably ever know! No disrespect but this guy was top of his game and though not an out and out carp angler, was no fool!
      Trust me, you could see, hear and read 20 different definitions of test curve and they would all be different (yes the official test curve is X weight to pull tip to 90* , which tells you even less...) Jan's explanation is a simplistic explanation for those that want a simple answer explained in a different way RIP

      If you dont know who "this guy" is you should probably do some research and watch a few of his videos, you might change your opinion after.

    Wat a load of rubbish ive had carp up to 45lb on a 2.75 and that was when i was snagg fishing

    • @desburnett5406
      @desburnett5406 4 роки тому

      His suggestion that 2.75 is appropriate for the least challenging situations made me laugh - what a shameless shill!
      >2.5 exist for casting, end of story.
