    I am learning to play accordion as well, and he is doing g very well, I mean the way he is teaching, EVERYONE, WHO DOESN'T HAVE ANY ABILITY WITH THE MUSIC CAN LEARN TO PLAY ANY INSTRUMENT, JUST HAVE A TRY AND HAVE PASSION, JUST A BIT WITH A BIT, EVEN IF THE NOTES WILL NOT GET RIGHT, EVEN IF IT DOESN'T SOUNDS GOOD, JUST...
    DO

    THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I THINK I NEED
    My grandmother has an accordion that she is willing to let me borrow for some crazy shenanigans my bother and I have planned. It involves learning to play music from the pirates of the Caribbean on the accordion (he already knows guitar) and dancing around the Renaissance festival dressed as pirates from the 1600s
    I don't think I can get good at it in that time, but if the tune is at least recognizable it'll be worth it
    I don't even have the accordion yet because she lives six hours away, but I'm holding my piano synth upright to simulate accordion keys

    My grandfather came over on a boat from Poland in the 20s and brought an accordion along it's still in excellent condition. I don't know why but I feel like I want to learn how to play it in honor of him. So here I am. Lots of Polish and German heritage in my family so let's see how far I can get haha.

    The 1-4-5 is probably the most used chord progression ever. It just works. I play guitar, and use that progression more than any other. I was surprised to know it is also popular on the accordion.

    • @billjaxin
      @billjaxin 10 років тому +34

      All instruments take many hours to learn well, including the lips (whistling) the body (I consider dance as equivalent to music) accordion or whatever. The main limitation is the person's level of desire. It just takes time for the physical skill to become automatic so that you can focus on the musicality. If you love it, you'll get there.

      If you know any keyboard instrument, you’ll have the right hand mastered already. If you have a basic idea of chords then the left hand is only a matter of finding those buttons quickly enough. I think accordion is easier than piano because you don’t necessary need to learn play chords manually. If your sheet music says A7 then you just press the A7 button.

    I gotta get some straps for mine. I bought a super old one on ebay and fixed it up so that it plays, but all the straps rotted to dust.
    My issue is that the bass strap is a different kind from what I have found available online. It attaches with metal plates that flatten it to the side. But I can only find straps that have some screw on one end..
    Sorry it's a bit confusing. I'm a noob.

    speed150mph: there is a band ,which has two accordion players, one plays the accordion the right way with piano keys to the right, the other accordion players plays the accordion with the piano keys to the left! It would only require knowing which way is up scale and which is down scale , however most charts for lessons showing where notes are is written for piano keys to the right! So when you play keys going down , you actually go up the scale from lowest not to highest!

    Middle C on the accordion is not the C in the middle of the keyboard. It's the C in the middle of a piano keyboard and the lowest C on an accordion keyboard.
    Of course the actual note played depends on the reed(s) selected, but the lowest C is what's called middle C on an accordion. That's because the right hand of an accordion is usually played like the upper half of a piano, with the bass being handled by the left hand.

    • @greatresources5828
      @greatresources5828 8 років тому +1

      Tate McIntyre it depinde where you live, just have a look on Google, type like this: Accordion centre(the city where you live).
      and you will find it, just Google it.
      The prices would be higher for repairing, because it take longer to repare them, to have a look at each of them chord, and check it and in case they will need to put new things in it, if it's old, or to make it sounds good.
      so everything depinde how the accordion is like, I had an accordion, and as new is worth £500 but now I can sell it with no more than £100.

    • @LowEndStrings
      @LowEndStrings 10 років тому

      As far as i know, there are no left-handed accordions. But i know quite a lot players that are right-handed and left-handed. They all play the same instrument type without a problem. You need to master both hands, so it doesn't matter.

    As a little kid, I once tried pushing the keys on the "piano" part of a little child-type accordion by itself. Nothing happened. But notes were made when I did some squeezing and stretching on it.

    My father-in-law is a good accordion player/tech, and when I watch him jam out I'm totally confused. Hey plays the piano and button versions. I have been playing bass and guitar since 9th grade ( late 30s now), but something about the accordion isn't clicking yet for me. I haven't put any actual time into besides messing around for a few minutes but it seems to have a steep learning curve or maybe I suck. either one.. lol

    I'm a bit confused because I thought that the middle C on an accordion is the one closest to the chin?

      Well that's just wrong on most accordions

    I decided to start learning on a 24 bass accordian so my keyboard looks different to yours. How do I find middle C?

    I really want to take this instrument up, my friend is giving me German accordion apparently from the 1930's, it looks nice it's covered in white celluloid. Unfortunately, the corners of nearly ALL the bellows are all ripped a little bit and some of the bass keys stick. Have any idea how much it'd cost to repair this assuming I could find someone to do it?

    Is it weird for me to say that Weird Al is my inspiration for playing the accordion? (No pun intended 😆)
