I really dont get how the daughter paid for the car even after it was wrecked, but the mother never signed it over to her after it was paid in full then still expect the daughter to get the car out of storage despite not being the title holder.

The car was already wrecked. I doubt the name change could have been done.
If you have car that has a lean on it and you don't keep proper insurance on it or you let and unlicensed driver drive it and they crash even if the insurance company dosen't pay you still have to pay the lien company. The mom applied that same logic when she made the daughter still pay for the car after the accident. The storage fees were on the mom. She should've went and got the car from the tow yard ASAP. They will only give access and return the car to the owner.
@@iris-nx1wt The word is lien. I can't say I blame the mom for leaving the car. What can she do with a crashed car? Also most cities will tow it away from your home and you are back in the same boat. I don't believe it took that long to process the lien sale paperwork in order to sell the car though. Also, they sold the crashed car and made money off of that. I would like to see if they deducted that amount from what was owed.

It is true you may not drive after a C-section for 6-8 weeks. The solution is NOT to have someone with no license drive you. Assuming your boyfriend is the child's father he had 9 months to get a license in preparation for his child. Doesn't matter that they couldn't predict the C-section ahead of time. You'd think any young man would want the legal ability to transport his own partner and child.

@@Hellwendogggy11 6-8 weeks is long but it's normal not to be able to drive for at least 2 weeks. That is because you put stress on the wound whilst driving and you shouldn't.

Fun fact: In Guinea (W Africa), we have a legal disposition called "principe de l'immunité familiale". It is a disposition that stops the law from persecuting certain issues between family members. I am not a lawyer but I believe the exempted issues include non-life-threatening issues like money matters.
I believe this 3.000 USD issue against her daughter wouldn't make it anywhere near a judge in our country.
A man tried to sue his wife recently because she "stole" his money. And the case was swiftly thrown out for the same reason. 😂

@@khairulanam7777 Culturally speaking, the majority of people don't seek lawyers at all. But for those who do, this breeds frustration.
But our culture also has a concept that I call "social apology". Basically, when there is an issue between people especially family members, groups of people go apologize on the perpetrator's behalf. These social apologizers are very stubborn and they usually get their way. They make you promise to forgive. (visualize this: a bunch of people saying "you are right, but please forgive him/her" for 1 hour or more. If one group fails, more will repeat the process during days/months/ weeks/ years).
Usually, as a victim, you will be resentful for some time, but after that, you just move on.
As for me, I try to stay away from family when it comes to anything long-term like employment or business. I know I can't sue. But, I also know that I ultimately benefit from this immunity as well.
So, I avoid family problems all together.
I am not sure why you state the above with pride. It is a ridiculous law. Yes THIS is a stupid case but to say that some ridiculous law protects those who steal from family as opposed to strangers is simply unethical. Some would say that theft from family is even more of a heinous act due to the hurt and broken trust involved. Makes me wonder why you don't see things that way, do you steal from YOUR FAMILY, those that trust you most? Either way you can keep your law, because it just would not work in a fair balanced and just society.

I cannot wrap my head around people taking their children/ family members on national TV to sue them in court!! I mean, sometimes it ain't even that deep, they just want attention or money or whatever it is!!!! It's just sad!!!!
I think its because the show pays the judgment; the defendants (or plaintiffs when there is a countersuit) don't actually pay anything. They are simply deemed responsible and maybe a bit embarrased on television but they themselves don't actually pay anything. If a family member owed me money but they couldn't afford to pay me, I would consider "suing" them on tv because I could get my owed money back from the show without putting my family member into a financial crisis. I get my money back, my family member doesn't have to be the one to pay it, and the show gets an interesting case to air on tv. Everybody wins.

@@SCalvin12 the thing is, as I understand, this isn't how it works. You can't sue them on TV, but it had to be a legitimate suit that then gets picked up by the show and you are then both parties are asked if they would like to participate for perks.

Yes this is wrong that the mom is taking the daughter to court for the tow fees but also, what did you think was going to happen when the car was sitting there for over a year in the impound? You didn't attempt to try to get it out and get it fixed? So many questions with this....

Unrelated to the case but- I feel really sorry for both of them. Their relationship is obviously rocky if they would go to court over something like this. Never feels good to have a bad relationship with your mom/daughter :(

It may not be a rocky relationship but it can be a mother trying to make a woman out of her daughter. 1st daughter irresponsibly let her unlicensed boyfriend drive, 2nd irresponsible boyfriend totalled the car, 3rd daughter knew mom's conditions and still didn't want to pay up and now mom says well the real world isn't going to be nice and you need to grow up not just to be responsible to be responsible, you have a baby now.

Just food for thought: when one side or the other wins their case, the Judge Judy producers of the show pay the money, not the loser of the case. I learned this about a year ago, and it makes sense now why most of the losers of the case don't whine too much when they lose. They don't have to pay.

Why would a parent ever take their young child to court? In Ireland we would never ever dream of doing this. Sometimes I think these people do this to get on the show and get paid their fee. I would never understand a parent taking their child to court, especially when the child is this young. Just like in the other case that was uploaded today - the daughter was so emotionally immature.

The Plaintiff should have paid to get the car out of the tow yard, or signed it over to the tow yard. This should have been done as soon as she possible could, instead of letting a twisted piece of metal be stored for a year. I would not have had a problem with charging the defendant a few DAYS storage, but a YEAR? No.
