Lovely watch. One feature you did not notice is the balance wheel. The cuts on regular bimetallic are 90 degrees from the arms. These are at 30-60 which indicates that this has a Guilaume balance. The steel is a an alloy with special expansion rate to reduce and possibly eliminate middle temperature error. V&C use these often in their top end timepieces.
In addition the shorter unsupported arms are more rigid.
These are usually called torpedo boat watches or "Chronometre du Bord"

In fairness to the British, in a submarine there are no windows to see the sun or stars so they put a really expensive and accurate timepiece on it. No expense was spared in acquiring this watch. Would love to see it on the timegrapher for 10 seconds before servicing.

The daylight bulb interferes with video format hence the flickering picture. Easy fix = use a tungsten bulb not daylight.

How did they make the temperature compensated balance? Did they solder the steel and brass together? or is it held in place by the variable inertia regulating screws? Or is it fused purely with heat? I would really love to know!
    Thanks in advance! :)

For the finger print, you should conduct an investigation.....I doubt this may comes from a previous watchmaker. It may comes from the owner. 1) the backing is easy to open by anyones. 2) people love To see and show the interior. Just saying 😁.after aller you have thé most important evidence: the finger prin....cant argue acter that.....sheers!😂

Thank you for the personal tour of a masterpiece of workmanship. This artwork is for only a few and typically hidden from view unlike the museum pieces from arrogant self professed artists. What a treat to see. Did you do a video on the restoration so we can learn of the closing chapter of this story?

Very nice but an industrial Finnish deck watch with replaceable parts for 20 0r 40 warships with similar accuracy could have been accomplished instead of rich mans toy!
