i have macbook pro 2009 and it is still working perfect in 2023,but it came with mac os el capitan(10.10) and i forcefully updated it to mac os high sierra(10.13) which increase its life..
Macbooks may be available for cheaper but the biggest problem arises with the repair of the older series of them as the repair of screen may even take more price than the second hand MacBook😅😅

I used to design on this mid 2015 MacBook Pro. It was the best when I started designing but I felt low performance after switching to m1

There is a problem with this Mac you cannot put apps on the appstore until you are on the latest version of macOs
You Cant use it for Work From Home as Most Apps like Teams & VM Ware wont Support Older Version of MacOS (Companies have Minim Version of App mentioned).
& Most Companies have restriction using Older version of OS.

I bought mid 2014 2.5GHz i7 Quad Core MBP with 16 GB RAM, Dual GPU for 20,000 just last month. All I need is Safari, KeyNote and HDMI port. It's running Big Sur and as long as nothing breaks, I'll never need to upgrade. Have used 7 macbooks since 2009. Only the first one, white MacBook 2008 was a new purchase, all others were used ones. The current one is my best value for money purchase to date.

well I am editing 4k videos in FCPX and its working fine no overeating and other issues undated to mac os Montray and getting updates too.
overall it is better than buying any other laptop in 30k price range.

I would recommend buy m1 macbook air in second hand market you can get for around. (55-60k). I am using it for over a year with heavy use (Software development and xcode) and I havn't noticed even a single crash during this time. Also if you think the resale value of m1 macbook air is much higher you can easily sell it for around 45-50k after using it for over a year. Also the battery backup and keyboard is top notch.
Dont buy macbook from 2016-2018 era with butterfly keyboards. It will stop working after sometime.
You can get a new one for 70k with 10% store, 10-20% student and 5-8k HDFC

I brought a 2017 macbook air 256GB for 26K, battery cycle 405 and physically top notch. using this in 2024, I have not faced a single issue till date. the battery still lasts 6-7 hours on normal web browsing and office application. buying such used products is a good deal if simple web browsing or just presentation is needed. what i lack most is a full hdmi port on the air, thunderbolt to hdmi adapter is needed.

Prefer windows in the price of m 1 you can get a windows gaming laptop that can handle buttery smooth coding , intermediate gaming , editing and wide range of free software and apps. I am using hp victus for cybersecurity learning extended the ram to 32 gb as for virtual machines no problem at all . Definitely go for windows. 👍👍👍
Windows laptop service cost and parts easily available. Can open , clean , change thermal paste at home without tension. 👍👍
Still to the day as I am writing this comment I'm using a MacBook Pro 2013, and I'm a graphic designer, and it's my work laptop, and I'm happy by its performance. Running InDesign and illustrate take a huge load and this mac mange flawlessly. Old MacBook like this are better than other laptops costing more than 70k and still you don't decent performance. I sounded like more MacBook fanboy, but I have windows laptop for gaming, and it's good for gaming only MS Office stuff.
