  • Опубліковано 22 тра 2016
  • In this video, we're gonna get together and learn how to paint impressionist poppies with palette knives. This is a good lesson for beginners and up.
I’m painting on a 12x16-inch stretched canvas, but you can paint on any type and size of canvas you like.
    The used:
    • A 1-inch flat brush
    • A small pointed palette knife
    • A 2 1/2-inch narrow palette knife
    • You'll also need an extra paper towel
I’m using Liquitex Basics acrylic paints in the following colors:
    • Titanium White
    • Burnt Umber
    • Mars Black
    • Cadmium Red Deep Hue
    • Naphthol Crimson (can substitute Cadmium Red Medium Hue)
    • Cadmium Yellow Deep Hue
But you can use any colors you like.

I am over 50 and have never painted a day in my life! As of today I have completed 2 of your paintings and OMG they turned out so good. I am totally shocked! You are an amazing instructor!! You make me feel fearless to do things I once was so afraid of! Thank you so much Jane for doing such an awesome job! Please keep doing this!! Once I get more paints (colors) I am going to keep following the paintings you are doing. I personally would love to see more underwater paintings (including coral, fish, dolphins, whales, ect.) I love the water, sunsets, pretty much anything to do with water (both on top and underneath). Please don't stop!! You are making new artists daily!!! *points to herself* =D

I have been watching artists on youtube for years, and you have the absolute best instructions.. What is usually missing is closeup technique, which you have done here. Thank you!

Jane I just love the way you teach. You are so easy to follow and explain in detail so I can understand every word and feel like I can do what you explain and I thank you so much for your talent and sharing your self with all of us. I was a beautician in my career. I retired to Vermont but when working I had the Wyeth's for clients for 26 years. I was around artist for years and never in a million years would I have believed I could paint. But meeting your video's I might just be able to do it. I must admit I am trying late in life turning 71 on Earth Day. You are such an inspiration and I am regretful I found you and your talent and sharing.

I came back to this one after a few years to refresh my memory. The first one I painted six years ago won first in class at the county fair and later sold. I've sold a few 4x5s based on Jane's poppy tutorial, and someone who saw one at a friends home commissioned three of those little ones. So, back here for a refresher course. Thanks again, Jane.

Thanks for the lesson. I painted with palette knives in 60's and 70's. I loved it--have bought the metal and plastic ones. Also, love the use of paper plates and paper rolls. We did not have these. Again, thank you. I will be watching you and returning to things I love.

You might be! Do you paint now? If you start practicing young, you're going to be an amazing artist in no time flat! I think it's easier for kids to learn how to paint sometimes. Adults can block themselves with fear, but kids just go for it! That's what I want you to do. Just go for it!

So it's 3 years, almost, since you painted this absolutely beautiful poppy canvas..... I can tell you, for me, it feels like you could have done it yesterday. The abstract look and stunning colours give a contemporary yet ageless quality to it. Thus it will always be relevant! I learnt so much from watching you. Being into mixed media, I do use palette knives but didn't realise how different edges and uses of, make such a difference. My mother really wants me to do poppies for her and as I am no artist per say, I desperately needed some hints and tips. Your video has given me that in bucket loads, lol. I certainly think I can now at least try. Thank you very much for sharing your creativity and experience. Your poppies are truly delightful! C👌🎨🐾🐾

I've done this painting different styles different colors etc. Tonight I learned nothing less than liquitex basics will work. I mixed in some cheap craft paints. It's not awful, but it's not my standard for this painting. Paint and learn. Thank you Jane.
