You were born to be a teacher ! I love how you simplifying painting and use a step by step teaching method explaining along the way how you achieve your looks .......thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents ...
This is one of the BEST tutorials I've seen yet....the entire video, including the music and sound effects...but especially the way you explain every detail....Superb video....thank you for sharing ...I'm a fan
I watched and painted this 7 years ago and it’s still one of my favorites ❤. So much has happened since; it’s going to be amazing to paint this again. Love this channel
My 8-year-old niece, and I just started painting with all her new art supplies she got from Santa. We found your videos and are working on a "Rainy Day" now. We're challenging ourselves to 100 days of painting, lol. Thank you. Your videos are great, glad we found you! :)
Oh my gosh, Nicola, that sounds amazing!!! How fun for you both, and you're going to learn and grow so much in that 100 days! I'm so glad you found me too :) I would love to see what you two are doing :D
Rainy days like that , because of the peaceful aspect put me to sleep. So if I owned that painting every time I looked at it I would start yawning.Marvellously done.
I've watched many (very many) videos for acrylic painting/pouring tutorials; however, you are the only artist who takes painstaking time and care to truly and fully instruct the viewer. Thank you.
This is one of my favourites! I watched this one in the beginning of my painting journey, and 3 years later ..find it just as brilliant! Thank you Jane!
I did this!! My neighbor and I are beginner painter's and our styles are totally different. While she was painting a psychedelic VW van I was doing this. When I showed it to her she was blown away, her husband had doubt that I did it myself! :) quite the compliment (I think!). Thanks Jane!
I love days like that and also love the thunder and rain in the background. I would love the picture on my wall to be able to gaze out of that window :) Amazing realistic painting.
Love you, girl! Went through a Horrendous 5 year, emotional HELL! ( family!) My art went out the WINDOW, in the DUMP TRUCK!😢 I LOST my confidence in everything that I thought I was good! "SHATTERED!" In a Blnk! SO I THANK YOU for your time, how sweet and patient you are with us! Bless you, hunnee! You .. have now got me, "Armed n Dangerous!" WITH MY BRUSH n PAINTS! ❤❤❤
Thank you for the priceless tips. I did the rainy window and everyone was floored. I hope to track you down and visit someday. I am just teaching myself to paint and your help, is like breath is to life. You inspire me and prove that I CAN do it! You rock!!
Where I live it rains most of the time! This is definitely one of my favourite paintings I've ever seen, I LOVE it. I enjoyed the rain soundtrack too, I find it very relaxing. Thanks :)
I painted this for my son but made the fame red instead of black to go with his bedding, We love it. Thanks Great Tutorial very specific yet easy going. Can't wait to do another.
So the hardest thing about this painting is patience lol I have this bad habit of wanting to finish a painting in one go, this will help me to take my time and it may take a few days, thank you, have a great day
I found this UA-cam channel about a week ago and I have already bought myself all the things I need to do some of the paintings haha, love your videos 😊
I did the cardinal, now I'm just getting my necessary tools and mediums to do this! I love the rain also! :) TY so much Jane for behing such a hip, talented artist. You are much admired!
Only my second painting with acrylics, and I am glad it turned out really well. Wouldn't have been possible without the detailed instructions. Thanks! :-)
it was raining all day yesterday so I decided to paint this one... it got late so I had to stop...still need to finish the window bit can't wait to show it off... one of my favorite paintings!!
YES! With my palette knives, I can finally (FINALLY) do this one! I've had my eye on it for a long time. Now I just have to find the time to do it. When it comes to following tutorials, I always take about one and a half times longer to finish the painting. For shorter ones, probably less. I'm pretty sure I have the same palette knives as you do... because it's plastic and it has that dip in the handle. It makes me happy. Do you have any advice on keeping my space clean? I cannot get an easel and I work at a desk area. Acrylics is easy to wipe off, but still. Also, my hands are always dirty by the end. XD
Woohoo!! Love the palette knives :D Typically a painting like this would take me a lot longer to do the first time around too, but by the time you've seen me paint it, I've probably already painted it about 6 times, so I'm a little more practiced by that point :)
Hi Jane, Just finished my attempt at "Rainy Day". I played a "Rain" track while painting which truely put me in the zone. It was my first attempt at painting and have received much acclamation. All credit goes to your amazing teaching and I look forward to following you etc. Kindest regards and lots of love from down here in New Zealand.
Great tutorial! thanks. PS....I just want to say I've spent a good deal of time watching your videos the last couple months and wanted to say thanks and Happy Holidays!
Saw a post where someone talked about this video, so I looked it up. This was awesome Jane. Not only did I relearn rain drops, but your description of light rays hitting the surface was an eye opener for me. I now have a perfect understanding of where to add highlights. Thank you so much.
can we do the same painting without using the knife technique and simply use acrylic paints and paintbrushes?! your work is absolutely brilliant..and you make it look so simple....keep it up... loved it!!! ❤
Thank you so much, Shreya! Yes, you can absolutely do this with brushes instead. I've seen many people do it, and it always turns out wonderful. Have a great time and let me know how it goes ♥
I just found you and I can't let ;you go. LOL I want to try everything and I'm not a "painter". My multi media will have to rest for awhile. Your summer days are just like ours. Do you live in California?
I've watched a couple of your videos now and I have to say I have never learned so much about painting as you have shown us in your videos, I have been moving around all over the world working/losing jobs and lost touch with painting and am now getting back into it. I have been trying to learn from artists on the web/youtube. Your channel is by far the best I've come across and I'm grateful, I haven't been this excited to paint in a very long time! Thank you :)
Wow! Thank you so much! I'm so excited for you to get back into art. It's a wonderful thing to have in your life. Never let go of that. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions :D
I love that you used a pallet knife. Can't wait to do this picture. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait till you do more instruction! Thank you again. Lovely lesson.
lol! I know, those poor paintings. I don't think I actually got any on them that time, but they've taken their fair share of splatter from other paintings, lol.
Dear Jane, I have watched many of your videos as well this one. I absolutly enjoy painting with you. You are a great teacher and showing us even the small details. You inspire me a lot and I can hardly wait to go for the next project. My room is full of paints and brushes and canvases :-). You gave me a lot of joy and fun. Please go on and share new videos with us. Thanks a lot!
I'm a beginner when it comes to painting in general whether it's acrylic or oil wet on wet it depends on the day which of the two I rather paint with that day, but I can honestly say since me & my wife started watching your videos you're an awesome instructor. you go step by step and it's easy to follow along, so thanks for all your great tips.
Hi Jane, I painted this and I am very happy with how it turned out. You need to do one like this with a snowy scene through the window! I am going to attempt the Enchanted Apple painting today with my grandkids! I absolutely love watching you paint, very inspiring!
I finally tried to paint this picture. This was my second painting ever, and I did not do a great job, but I am not discouraged. I know it will take time and experience to get good. I really appreciate that this is only 2 colors. That simplified the paint palette. Now I will go wash my supplies and plan my next painting! Thank you Jane! Oh, and by the way! I used your 1 inch flat, and I LOVE that brush! That goes in my most treasured pile!!!!
One of the BEST tutorial videos for painting. The closeup shots of you painting the droplets & the highlights was so helpful. Your ease of instructions was also rather reassuring (very Bob Ross-ish). Look forward to watching some of your other vids. Thanks Jane.
Oh my gosh Jane ... !!! This is like ... Paint my window ...! I live in a 1863 Canadian farmhouse ... Seriously throw in a bay and a concrete bannister on a old porch... And you have my view .... Surreal .... So love it ... Thanks for the incredible inspiration ... Appreciate the how to ... So ...oooo going to make this my own ....!
I never thought I'd be painting rain. I wanted to learn how to paint drops of water so this is going to be a perfect painting to practice learning how to do it. I'm impressed Jane. You made something simple into a real amazing work of art! Palette knife, limited palette, tonal values, texture, straight lines, shading, shadows, highlights... it's got so many things all in one painting. I know I'm going to learn so much with this one. Thank you :)
I just finished painting it. I see why you think it's a zen painting. It's very relaxing. I did it on canvas paper which has it's challenges but I'm happy with the way it looks.
Jane.... you are the best. I am absolutely sure that nobody could instruct better than you. Also, you place your camera, just at the right place. I have no words to say thank you... You are just awesome..
My best friend did this painting and I was so impressed that I decided to try it too. Those raindrops are a challenge. lol. But I had a house with wooden windows too and the old glazed glass panes and when it rained it actually did make the outside look abstract like this. This is my favorite painting to date!! I'm glad my friend introduced me to you. :)
I watched your videos and decided to try painting for my very first time. I painted "A Walk in the Rain" it turned out pretty good for my first time. I would like to try painting this window but doesn't seem to be for beginners. I guess if it doesn't work out I can always paint over it and try again! I did subscribe and look forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks for taking the time to share your work with us.
I absolutely LOVE this painting!!!! Actually, I have painted this picture twice already and I'm going to paint it at least 2 more times, because all my sisters want a copy! Thank you so very much for your tutorials. I have improved so much since watching your videos! You are the absolute BEST! A heart-felt thank you Jane!!!
Thank you SO much, Bonnie! I'm so excited for you!!! I'm so glad you love it and can pass some beauty and love around. I would love to see how they're turning out. Are you in our Facebook group? If not, we'd love to have you :D facebook.com/groups/ArtMonsterSquad
Jane, your art work is so brilliant, and you are a wonderful tutor. I never feel on edge, or rushed when I'm taking instruction with you. I love the rainy window. Can't wait to have a go at this one. Thank you so much.
Dear Jane, Thanks so much for all your lessons. I have now taken you as my painting Guru. :-) You explain every tiny minute details to be taken care of and at the same time, provides console for wherever we might mess it up! You are a true teacher! Lots of love and gratitude to you! God bless you!
Thank you Jane, I followed along with your tutorial last night and I'm very pleased with the picture... wish I could show you. Thanks again for sharing this lesson.
I've recently rediscovered the joy painting gives me and happened to stumbled across your tuition videos. Thanks to you ,I feel ill be able to improve upon my basic skills.
It's been 5 years since you've painted this, but I'm just watching it now. It looks beautiful, you're a great teacher ❤ I love rain too, especially thunder storms, just like you I could watch rainy, stormy days 365 days a year. Thank you for sharing
I do love rainy days too,as long as I don't have to get out. ..I adore this lesson. ..i really love the abstract landscape for the first part too...I'm so trying to paint loose! !! I've even thought of doing nothing but abstracts for awhile to see if that will help me become more loose every time.
Thank you! I'm so glad you like it. Painting loosely is more of a challenge for me than painting tightly. You'd think it would be the other way around, lol. Practicing at it will get you there, though :)
Thank you for sharing your talent and you are a great teacher. I painted this with you and it is my family's and friends favorite painting. Even though I made changes in my painting I couldn't have done this without you. I was looking up how to paint raindrops and you are the best at teaching this skill. I brag about you to my friends and family and we love everything you paint.
I lived in a house with a window exactly like this. You are top of the painters. Top class ❤
You were born to be a teacher ! I love how you simplifying painting and use a step by step teaching method explaining along the way how you achieve your looks .......thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents ...

I just found you and I can't let ;you go. LOL I want to try everything and I'm not a "painter". My multi media will have to rest for awhile. Your summer days are just like ours. Do you live in California?
Yay! Hi, Debbie :D Nope, I'm in Utah. Even drier than California! I'm glad you like my videos. Maybe you'll discover you really are a painter ;)
I've watched a couple of your videos now and I have to say I have never learned so much about painting as you have shown us in your videos, I have been moving around all over the world working/losing jobs and lost touch with painting and am now getting back into it. I love that you used a pallet knife. Can't wait to do this picture. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait till you do more instruction! Thank you again. Lovely lesson.
Thank you so much, Debbie! Have a lovely time painting this one!
When you were doing the paint splatter, I was so nervous for your paintings in the back
😂😩
lol! I know, those poor paintings. I don't think I actually got any on them that time, but they've taken their fair share of splatter from other paintings, lol.

I love this painting! I would love to paint this in my Art class. Would it be ok to do so?
Thank you, Ashley! As long as it's not an art class that the students have to pay for, I'm fine with that :)
Love the foggy window view and the effect of the rain drops.
Thank you, Val :D
I was scared when you were doing the splattering around your other painting in the background 😬
I like how you have the background noise has been rain matching the top of painting that was a nice touch
Do you think it would work if I glazed some blue into the background and raindrops?
Yes!! I think that would be gorgeous!!
This is definitely good for a beginner. It was my first time painting anything abstract or with a pallette knife. It turned out great! Thanks Jane!
Yay! I love to hear that, Nadia!! Congrats :D
female bob ross
Aaaaw, shucks
First time to actually see a rain drop made !
Thank you for inviting me ! How much is it?
I don't have enough space on my devices to join, but thank you!
I've learned so much from your instructions while trying to paint one of your pictures!
Yay! I'm so proud of you, Tina!! Yes, I hope to do a snow scene too :) I hope you and your grandkids have such a fun time painting today
I love rainy days and use them as an excuse to be a little lazy....do only what I want to do....love your raindrops.
Thank you so much! That's a huge compliment

+Painting with Jane
Oh yes ... So plan too...!
Love the sound of rain in the background, even if it isn't real. Nice painting.
This brought back memories from when I was a kid. We had windows just like those. Nothing like lead paint from the 70's lol. Great painting
lol!! Thank you so much :)
I tried it on a much much MUCH smaller scale and it turned out really good it makes an adorable little painting!
I never thought I'd be painting rain. I wanted to learn how to paint drops of water so this is going to be a perfect painting to practice learning how to do it. I'm impressed Jane. Fabulous! Rain is always a comfort to me and your rain sound track cause great peace in my soul.
I love to hear that! Rain is the best, isn't it. I could take rain every day of the year
You saved me! I'm working on a piece that needed some raindrops and I had no clue how to create them. BIG THANKS TO YOU ~ now I do!

Thank you, Joe!! :D
It's been 5 years since you've painted this, but I'm just watching it now. It looks beautiful, you're a great teacher ❤ I love rain too, especially thunder storms, just like you I could watch rainy, stormy days 365 days a year. Thank you for sharing
I had a rough day. But after I spent the evening watching you paint I’m feeling much better. Thank you.
I painted several of your pictures and this is my favorite.
I finished this painting today and I am so proud of it. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and encouraging others to discover theirs.

Thank you, Taseer! There may be more :)
Thank you ... You are the best teacher ever!
Great tutorial, thanks Jane. I do hope you got your rain!
LOVED this lesson! While i was painting, we were having a wonderful thunderstorm! It must b MAGIC! THANK U!
Great instruction!! When I saw the thumbnail I thought it looked too complicated... but you broke it down so simply. Thanks for the inspiration.
Lauri
You're so welcome, Lauri!!!
OH my goodness!! This is so realistic. Your are amazing Jane!!
Aaaaw, thank you so much!!!
Thank you for sharing. I just painted this and I loved it. This was my first video painting. I love how you explain and make it so simple. Thank you.
