Just spent 2 weeks in Thailand and got back yesterday and I tried bua loy as well. Not as sweet as I thought it'd be so the restaurant I went to had sugar syrup on the table. The water chestnuts (they call them "pomegranate seeds" there) are my favorite too and the bua loy itself with the black sesame filling. Thanks for posting this! Brings back food memories!
