You recon these boxes are still worth it? I'm kind tempted on a special box because I love the art and treatments but they are like £400 a box at this point. Seems mental
It’s a total gamble at these prices - you pull a one ring or two and some special cards and bang! You’re at value. But you pull some stinker poster cards, stinker lands, and no ring and you won’t make up half your value. I’m not opening a ton of it because it’s unsustainable at scale currently
Are these cards equivelant to magic the gathering cards or a sepperate game? I want to start a card game and I'm not sure where to start
These are magic cards 😊 they are just "skinned" with lord of the rings art, themes, and characters. I always suggest picking up a preconstructed commander precon if you're new, learn the game and the cards from commander and start slowly branching off. I only suggest commander format as it has the most affordable precons

@@PhilosopherCards my local shop has an unopened collectors box not the special one but it’s 500$ so tempting but all the vids I’ve seen of the collectors boxes were all booty cheeks

Once in a while you can find an ebay seller that is selling what is clearly an amazon return. This box was a bit torn up and not something that someone would sit on sealed - so I went for it. It cannn be a bit risky though :)
Why is the collectors booster box so expensive ?
I feel like I could do a whole video on this question - the short of it - the expected value out of the packs is around 220. These collector packs are filled with top dollar hits that penetrate (lol) all aspects of the commander format. If you think of top power for commander you think of all the cards that allow 0 cost if you control a commander - think fierce guardians, swat, flawless, and deadly rollick. On top of that you have more chances to hit a jeweled lotus which is a 0 drop that allows you to add 3 free mana to cast your commander. On top of that you have the chance of pulling a textured foil which only exist in the collector boxes.
@@PhilosopherCards I want to save up and open at least one box as I’m obsessed with lotr but it’s so expensive 😅😅 the chance of hitting a sol ring serialised of a one ring man, it would make my day. Nice video man 🫡
