Even the most level headed judges don't react well to being disobeyed and disrespected, and Engoron is hardly a neutral party here. The NY jury will convict Trump of everything (I'd love to see them slip something like maritime piracy in just to see if they even read the forms) and Engoron will give the maximum sentence for everything. What happens after that? Who knows.
As a former president he gets secret service protection for the rest of his life. I don't think he's gonna be in some general population prison getting shaken down for his fruit cups. If anything he'd be sentenced to some form of house arrest at Marilago.
@@jrcrash4644 Honestly I'd be surprised if he even gets house arrest. Yes even in prison he'd get secret service protection and we have low level facilities where they'd be able to protect him easily. The "camps" have super low violence rates because everybody there doesn't have a violent past and is getting out soon. Think Martha Stewart. It sucked for her but even without protection she was just fine. If you're so rich you can max out everybody's canteen you'll be fine.

Democrat congressman introduced a bill that takes away the Secret Service if you're convicted of a crime. Might not pass this time, but the idea is out there now...and it might pass later on. It'll definitely resolve that little "Secret Service following him to prison" problem.

At this point honestly, I think Judge Merchan will end up giving Trump an hour or two in the courthouse cells at least if he continues to intimidate the jury. At some point, his hand will be forced.

Its a very predictable outcome. Trumps followers despise these agencies and already saw them as hopelessly corrupt, so of course a conviction in NY in front of a politically connected judge isn't going to persuade them they were following the bad guy. All this will do is energize. That's what scares me about this, they're not idiots... Whatever is going on the desired outcome cannot possibly a mere conviction.

The problem isn't that he paid her off. it's that he used campaign donations to do it and loed to cover it up... if he's as rich as he claims, why didn't he just pay her with his own money? Probably doesn't warrant jail on its own, but all the jury intimidation and contempt of court sure do.

What concerns me isn’t the innocent or guilty bit, but the fact it’s an unfair trail to be honest, fair trail, fair results.
It’s nearly impossible to get an untainted jury pool on account of who’s being put on trail.
The prosecution is obviously politically motivated, just looking at the statements and the way they’re going about the case.
The amount of bail is obviously unreasonable, even if he could pay it off easily (which is unconstitutional, obviously)
The media are (generally) being really biased about the entire thing and effectively treating it like a kangaroo court.
And the only reason he’s being targeted is for political reasons (otherwise he’d have been targeted ages ago, within less then a year of leaving office)
Of course all of these things have been true for a considerable amount of time in the United States, but having all of them simultaneously is an indictment of the justice system…
Keep in mind, if they can do that to him, what’s to stop them from doing it to anyone else they don’t like?
At least he’s getting a trial, *real* patriots like Edward Snowden or innocent people like Julian Assange didn’t even get that, but he only got it on account of his relevance and status too dangerous or difficult to destroy him otherwise.
On the point of bail, it’s not any more unreasonable than the bails that poor people have to pay. Most incarcerated individuals at any point in time in America are just awaiting trial just because they can’t afford bail

Doesn’t mean it’s not unreasonable… bail reform (at least for the poor, the rich can afford it) is long overdue.
First time you’re totally wrong. He’s on trial for claiming the stormy Daniel’s issues was a legal expense. This has nothing to do with his company valuations that’s the other case he’s appealing. The best lawyer to listen to is Attorney Turley he’s right down the middle and he states no crime exists for any of this.

Is it called a Kangaroo Court because everyone has jumped to conclusions, or because the judge has a pouch with a baby judge in there with their own tiny gavel and everything?
I will say I don't like the whole both sidesing of these arguments because it removes any kind of context or nuance from the situation. I don't like Biden at all, I think he's far too old. I agree with lots of his policies and I think he has done a lot of good for the economy and the country as a whole (his pro union stance is a huge bonus for me). However, I think that to say Trump is the "same" as Biden is ridiculous. The way his rhetoric around the 2020 election has poisoned the mind of a shockingly large part of the population is damning enough. He knows the election wasn't stolen, yet he will continue to pound that drum because he knows his fans like it. We know it's dangerous because we literally watched them break into the capital on January 6th. It's not just politics, it's serious, it's actively dangerous for our democracy.
Add that on top of how he openly and flagrantly chooses to break the law like with his classified documents that he lied about having, and then said he was allowed to have them, then it leaked he knew he wasn't supposed to have them, and then he's fighting tooth and nail just to try and maintain that he didn't commit a giant litany of crimes in trying to cover it up.
When people both sides Trump and Biden, I want to actually see a break down of each thing Trump has done and is in court for, and it's direct comparison for Biden. Like when Trump falsified and covered up his financial records to defraud banks and the state of New York, what's the equivalent for Biden? When Trump (either intentionally or negligently) riled up a mob to storm the Capital and then delayed calling the national guard (according to his own VP), what is the equivalent for Biden? When Trump mocked a disabled Veteran and asked Mark Milley why he would let a disabled veteran sing the national anthem and to never let him appear in public like that again, what is the equivalent for Biden? When he sent cops in riot gear to literally beat the shit out of reporters and protestors so he could take a picture with a Bible in front of a church, what is the equivalent for Biden? Every time I hear "both sides" I hear it followed by "Trump is a jerk and Biden is inept", but it never goes beyond that.
You're right Larry, he isn't above the law and he can't be allowed to just get away with everything.
The fact that trump has absolutely no redeeming qualities as a good & decent human being is enough for me. The man cheated on every single wife he's ever had, is convicted of sexual assault, is documented (and fact checked) to have lied over 30,000 times as potus, and thinks American Nazis are ok (there were good people on BOTH sides). The man is quite literally the antithesis of what God wants of his people..
