Thanks for rescuing mama cat and her babies. She was highly stressed because another cat might have been a threat to her babies' welfare, so as a result she would have perceived every other cat that came near as a threat, so she was not taking any chances and was seeing them off before they have a chance to harm her babies. After being so stressed, were you seriously going to give one of mama cat's babies away to that family. Don't you think that would have increased her stress levels?
No, they said it was a bad idea to do that. They likely know that after 2 weeks the mothering instinct of a queen lessens, which is why the mother hissed at the strange kitten smell.
Y'all are absolutely wonderful, tho I would like to make a suggestion, try to use less force when petting the adult, that makes them seriously uncomfortable & can harm their back/ribs if not careful

The mother cat reminds me of my beautiful Seal Point Himalayan (a breed derived from mixing Siamese and Persian breeds). She was a Christmas gift to me from my ex-husband. I named her Lexus (not after the car) but in Latin, it means "law" and I was a judge. I think that what you're doing, saving lives, newborns and mothers and foster mothers is God's Law. It would be an honor if you named the mother cat after my beloved Lexus. She'd be 34 years old now, an impossibly long life even for one as well cared for and loved as she was. She was 13 years old when she passed from this life into the next. Even 21 years later, my heart hurts for her. I would love to adopt several of your kittens but I believe it would be too expensive since I live in the United States.
