That or an RPG HEAT head. That way it’s a side grade to recoil-less. Slightly worse AT but still strong, yet better crowd clearing with the cluster bomblets (although I think the bomblets need to spread out less far and perhaps a damage increase to match that of current grenades, maybe 400 a bomblet vs 250.).
@@CouncilOfStarfire eh. Recoilless is still king imo, instant kill on tanks and hulks, 2 shot factory striders, 1 shot dropships anywhere, it's so hard not to take it even if technically you can get by with thermite.
Before the update it was actually possible to kill tanks semi reliably in one shot using the airburst launcher when shooting at a spot slightly to the side of them. I used it to a point where I could take out shredder tanks reliably. I haven't gotten around to testing it after the update, but with how much stronger the recoilless is now there is just absolutely no reason to use it anymore.

Playing against the jet brigade two days ago with the ABRL, same game I took out two reinforcements inside the drop ship at once with a 28 kill streak, and then I took out a gunship whilst getting like 12 bots from a drop ship near it. It is awesome now.
Been using the ABRL just for kicks the other day, it's quite good against bots. Can easily take out a patrol with one rocket and takes out the small bots which call in reinforcements. It also works wonder during extraction when you have a great view of incoming hordes at a distance.
Let's keep in mind that the recoilless would have probably gotten the same amount of kills by just killing the dropships. Also, as somebody who doesnt play against the bots often.. let's be happy about the fact they respect our private space in this mission instead of just dropping bots behind enemy lines.
i love the airburst launcher, but i hope at some point they add an alt HE fire mode that detonates the whole charge at once, for those moments when you need to be a bit more surgical with the explosion.
Been trying a build seems pretty fun for bug side Armor: fire resistance Primary: Torcher, grenade pistol and gas nades Stratagem: sterilizer, Rover, rocket Sentry and MG sentry it has a little trouble killing bile titans, structures and bug holes but everything a charger and below it's fine.

Cool in theory, lame on practice. They better give it orbital shrapnel. Because right now all bomblets are getting scattered so much that 90% of them miss the target completely. You need PERRRFECT conditions to get good destruction with this launcher + ammo capacity is too low for consistent anti-crowd use
I think recoil-less with the HE shell may be a better choice than airburst. Slightly Smaller AOE but way more reliable at killing groups. I’d use cluster bombs or the AOE quick recharge orbitals/fire for crowd control.
One thing very funny against hulks but you can use the rocket airbust and aim between their legs to make your rocket blow up their heat sink. Also if you are using it in a more normal mission, don’t hesitate to aim a bit higher than your ennemies (mostly for Heavy devs). This weapon can be fun if it’s in the right hand ! Even though I find it very underwhelming against gunships (not sure how it is now since the new patch)

The issue with this weapon is that there is tons of options that do it's job better. The autcannon achieves the same effect with more ammo for example.
Yeah they'll have to do something about the Airburst since Autocannon has FlaK shells now, maybe a Thermobaric rocket or something, even though the fact that it's cluster limits the suspension of disbelief with the programmable ammo They could add one of the rockets on the backpack as the dedicated AT rocket you load when switching ammo, letting you have some AT capability with a weapon that otherwise has limited AT
this and flak ammo for autocannon should be changed to ignore dead bodies, it's frustrating 😅 even very old bodies or juice puddles are counted as targets, whenever you kill someone in the front, it "shields" the others from more explosions
Against Titans it's unreliable since it has to splash the bile sacks above, but for chargers and impalers it's relatively reliable if you manage to fire the rocket underneath them or near the charger butt/impaler face
It doesn't work that well with the Airburst, but it's great for Autocannon or Recoilless Rifle, you just switch to your primary/secondary and back to the stratagem weapon of choice, it's great on the RR, saves you a second or so of the dude closing the Venturi on the tube
It doesn't really team kill if the person using it isn't a moron though. Use it on patrols and dropships or firing down into a base from above, don't use it when there's stuff surrounding you already
While this is a needed buff, it probably works better on the bug front for caff/shrieker clearing. On bits it is so much more efficient to hit dropships with the recoiless anywhere but the engines to kill the gunship and all the troops that it carries.
Actually 100% is kind of misleading because each bomblet got the buff. So yeah damage doubled but it wasn’t a flat 400-800 it was 400-800 times 25 bomblets. That thing is a tactical nuke now.
I always tk or myself when I use the airburst by accident but when you get kills it’s satisfying and it’s really good against the bugs

Should have given this thing programmable ammo tbh. Either proximity detonate or trigger on hit. Recoilless was nice but totally unnecessary.
All I’m saying is give the airburst a 30m fuse option and watch it become used as hell vs bugs

Thermites are one of my favorite things in the game. It just opens up so many options
If you run engineering kit armor and an AT strat, you have basically no need for AT support weapons.

if you shoot it correctly (between the hulk legs) you can take them out.

You can kill gunships with it, but you gotta lead your shot a bit to give the airburst a chance to pop

Yes, the quasar didn’t really get nerfs aside from the cooldown increase

Every time I shoot the drop ship, it just bounces off the bottom and explodes underneath the dropping bots
