Heads off to both of them!
I see what you did there.
Tristan Sickles omg don’t
Ha ha ha ha lol
Blaze Stinger why not? That's funny.
Tristan Sickles good punt there.
This film was seriously incredible. Some insane talent both in front and behind the camera for sure.
Ashton Gleckman yeah i can't stand critics bashing this movie every body should go see it don't stream it this movie does not deserve that
Yep amazing acting especially from ‘Peter’ (Alex Wolff) so many emotions. Well acted
Ashton Gleckman nah it sucked
Gerry Buckets yea I’d rather jerk off with a handful of rusty fish hooks rather than waste my time watching that trash movie ever again. Absolute dumpster fire garbage.
Thanks for your input Dustin.
Cant believe this was her first film. She was amazing
She was the lead in Matilda on Broadway, so she definitely has some solid acting experience. Though film is a totally different medium to deal with, so that certainly doesn't lessen how good she was.
jennifer half It was also the directors first movie.
iKNOWiKNOWNOTHING I know. He did a good job as well. Obviously. That movie was nuts but in a good way!!
IK did she win a award like she scared the CRAP!!! Out of me!!!
That’s an intense role for a teen in her first movie
Milly: It was my first movie.
Alex: Yeah, it was her first movie, should give her a round of applause.
Can I just say how amazing Alex is for that? I even clapped behind the screen and surprised that no one clapped, a first movie and a first movie that DID SO WELL? I'm impressed. These two are amazing actors, including the entire cast.
highgxrden It was also the directors first movie.
Bizarrely, it seemed to annoy the host a bit. He winced, clapped almost sardonically, and quickly moved fwd. I’m personally unfamiliar with him and this show; that made me cringe.
OAN- I hear a good deal of applause after Alex’s comment. Perhaps they added it in later?
@@iknowiknownothing6114 yes his debut film. Amazing right?
alex is so sweet i love him 🥺🥺🥺
The way that Hereditary handles grief and trauma is outstanding. I was so invested in each of the characters throughout the whole film.
Honestly same. Most horror movies these days have only one likeable character, if even that. But I loved all of the characters in this, even Joan.
I felt like I accidentally worshipped Satan after watching this film. But it was brilliant. And the acting is INSANE especially from Alex Wolff. I can still get chills from the thought of him sitting in the car in shock from the events of what had happened and just going straight home and straight to bed and there’s no dialogue or soundtrack. All of the emotion is in his eyes and it’s fricking insane. I get. Chills.
One of my favorite sequences!
So depressing I almost felt what he was feeling atm it was so chilling
Omg i hated him for it!
You can see the trauma in his eyes.. it's insane
dude totally agree
He protrayed a kid being in complete shock. VERY believable, in my eyes. Also, having lost my own child eleven years ago at the same age as Charlie - in a very violent manner, the Mothers response was pretty accurate, except the police had to come and tell me - my husband said that I did not even sound human when three cops held me down when they told me that he was struck by a train - then called the ambulance so I wouldn't run into the street to keep me from killing myself... That was VERY hard to watch - and it I almost turned it off... This movie was very, very intense...
I'm so sorry for your loss
So very sorry!
Laura Lewis, I felt completely the same. I too lost my child under horrible circumstances and can completely relate. I had to turn off the movie after watching the mothers trauma which was totally accurate. Still trying to find the headspace to watch the rest of it. Stay strong mama.
I am sorry about your pain and anguish.
I have never been in those shoes, but I know people who are, and their pain breaks my heart.
I am so sorry for your loss Laura 😢
Feel bad about his character, he just wanted to smoke weed!!
.....and get laid
I did not know he was a stoner going into the movie and I love to see movies stoned... SO THAT WENT WELL.
Daisy Mejia wasn’t even her fault.. not directly or intentionally. They were all puppets
PopsPlays fuck her anyway lol I’m not dumb, I get the movie 😂
😂😂😂
Milly looks so beautiful! That dress is everything. She was incredible in the film.
@@duffal0 wtf...
No, the outfit isn't good, sorry.
@@duffal0 thats so rude ...

Alex Wolff's portrayal of silent, internalized grief, and Toni Collette's portrayal of extraordinarily expressive, externalized grief, in the 5-10min following "that moment", are quite possibly the most acutely accurate and devastating portrayals of grief and mourning I have ever seen in a film, ever. I felt so profoundly for both of their characters, both because of their uncanny performances, but also because _I_ _had_ _felt_ _both_ _of_ _those_ _forms_ _of_ _grief_ _in_ _my_ _own_ _life_ . Just astonishing work from all cast and crew involved in this film. What a directorial vision this fucking thing is.
I appreciated that they actually have people act in a realistic manner during the crazy stuff that happens.
The mom and son especially completely lose it during pivotal moments in the film. I think that is how an everyday person would react when unexplainable stuff starts to happen
ya especially when she started crying for like 2 minutes straight through multiple scenes after finding the daughter in the car. It was insanely cringey to me and made me laugh because you just never see that in films, but also at the same time felt real because i could actually imagine a mother completely breaking down like that. People experiencing real emotion rarely appear that flattering and Acting in hollywood has always favored dramatic performances that don't go overboard over pure real reactions of the everyday person going through a traumatic event.
*SPOILER* when peter cried like a little bitch hearing charlie's voice coming from annie lol it is a convincing portrayal of a kid being steadily pushed to his breaking point by forces beyond his comprehension
This movie was scary enough to make me feel comforted by seeing these children alive and well and normal in this interview.😁
He looks so much like his brother now, they even have the same voice lol shoutout to the naked brothers band and anyone who remembers that show
Stannis Baratheon I fan girl everytime I see either of them doing something big 😅
Stannis Baratheon oh my god is that him?! Loved them haha
they could be twins fr the only things that are different between them is their hair color and the mole Alex has on his face lmao
Stannis Baratheon oh the teen was in that?
I love the strokes!
Alex Wolf was increadible in this movie. Everyone is talking about how good Tonie Collette was in this movie, but his depiction of a teenager going through a kind of trauma that none of us could even fathom, I think he was just as good if not better then Toni Collette. Especially when you consider that some of the powerful parts were done without a single word spoken.
barkon34 he was incredible but theirs something about that science were Toni is screaming in such a blood curdling fashion the just tips it for me when I think of this film I think of her scream and cry’s of saying she wants to die, just so haunting
@@MrKg1991 Oh I totally agree, i in no way think Tonie Collette dose not deserve all the praise she got for this movie. I just feel Alex Wolf didnt get nearly enough for his performance, and some people actually thought he was to whiney in the movie.
I think everyone was great, but Gabriel Byrne's character is relatively unimpressive compared to everyone else. He didn't do very much but stand on sidelines and react to other people.
moonlily1 agreed but that was very much his character he technically wasn’t a main character and was really there to be the skeptical person who stays fairly grounded and uses logic for the whole situation until he died by supernatural causes. They probably wanted to make him like this because you don’t know for sure if there is a devil involved (until the end) or if mental illness runs in the mother’s side of the family so the kids have it and the mum has is but the dad who does have mental illness running I the family is in such big contrast to them. But even though he was in contrast it didn’t make him that interesting at all compared to the all the other crazy/possessed characters so that’s why the character will fade into the background not Gabriel’s fault.
@@MrKg1991 I forgot she says that... It streaks to the whole Charlie possession thing and the events are just biding time until they give in 🎯🎯🎯
5:28 was i the only person who sympathized with Alex Wolf's character in that scene? I keep hearing people say he was an asshole for just going to bed, but im thinking what the hell would you have done if you were in that situation. I mean its obvious from his face how traumatized he is and that he cant bring himself to accept what had happened. He even shakenly asks if she is ok at one point hoping to god to get an answer and for it all to be ok, but knowing full well that the responce is never coming.
barkon34 Nah, you’re not the only one. Let’s be real. No guy in high school would ever want to take their little sister to a party. It didn’t mean he didn’t love her...she was a kid. He left her alone for a little while. Given that she was 13, you’d think that her knowing her allergy to nuts, that she would have been more careful with that cake, or is it just me? May be just me. Not blaming her either...just sayin that everything...the entire string of circumstances was just so unfortunate. He wasn’t a bad human. Just a teenager who did what most teens would do. I felt for him, too.
100% agreeed. It was almost the most normal reaction in my opinion. It was him trying to postpone the external consequences of what happened because it was already unbearable internally. I also don't get why people are mad, it was one of the best character actions I've seen in film
ThatgirlwithLocs You were dying to tell that, right? You just can't pass it, you have to say the spoiler. What are you, 5?
no, we want and _expect_ superheroics all the time! (i'm being ironic, if that eludes you)
THANK YOU FINALLY SOMEONE FUCKING UNDERSTANDS
I would love to watch the uncut version since it was 3 hours originally!
Alice Lin I watched on a plane and it was seriously cut. I need to find the uncut version
2 hours is too long for horror n it was slow paced
@@sapnesuhaneladakpankeallep8828 It was too long cause it was so scary. I just wanted it to end 😂 3 hours would've killed me.
@@sapnesuhaneladakpankeallep8828 Doctor Sleep begs to differ.
@@GeorgeMillerUSA Dude Doctor Sleep isn't super scary unlike this movie. This movie was disturbing. I still liked Doctor Sleep but Hereditary was made to disturb you
Alex is brilliant in Hereditary. He will have a long and successful career as an actor, future leading man of Oscar quality. Wish u the best, Alex.
Alex Wolff is seriously talented.
HELL YEAH he is!!!...
AND HOTT
@@armandoosuna6525 Agreed!!
I dont understand why people are upset about the scene where he goes to bed. He was in shock.
yeah i found it to be the most realistic anyways, and it made me feel even more connected to peter
It’s what the guy did, as this was a real story (the car scene, not the whole movie) but in the movie, it’s fictional, so getting mad at the characters for being selfish and irrational, I think that’s a key part of watching horror movies, getting mad at the characters and thinking about how you would react etc.
Haha well she's really off to a good head start in the film industry... she's very mature for her age she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders. . . Sorry, ill head out now.
Oh lord
I just can’t seem to get a head of things.
im gonna head up stairs and watch this movie again
how dare you
Mario Uribe you tried hard to squeeze all of that in one comment lol
Heads off to this comment.
Milly is brilliant beyond her years. She’s so refreshing to witness as her own being in this interview. Alex is also so very wise and extremely expressive. I’m looking forward to seeing both of them in more films in the future.
Cali_Flower chill bro
I want to see the full 3 hour cut so badly. This is a film absolutely worth dedicating 3 hours to.
Dave Bryan I bought the movie on iTunes/Apple TV. The extras include deleted scenes, but I haven’t heard anything on if a directors cut is in the works yet :( I wanna see it.
Spoilers kinda --
I heard that like, at the end ritual, the original version had Peters eyes cut or removed or something. You know how Charlie’s notebook has the pictures with his eyes crossed out? It wasn’t originally just to signify death or something. The cult did something to his eyes. But apparently it was the one thing that test audiences were like “NOPE. Too gross” about.
HOWWWW is this little girl SOOO incredibly intelligent at her age? I am obsessed, lol !!!!!
Seriously!! She's like a 35 year old in a 14 year old's body!
Theatre work. Starring in plays for years does that to an actor I think.
+ Derek Fisher It was a figure of speech. Get over yourself.
Derek Fisher Oh wow. Project your own perversions much? Go find something to do with your time. I refuse to even explain the simplicity of my comment to you, which others clearly understood.
+Derek Fisher You must be a senior citizen. You've never heard someone say, "I'm so obsessed with _____!" It's meant to express an exuberance for a person/place/thing - it's not LITERALLY supposed to mean you're psychologically obsessed. Seriously, you need to get out more.
She's 15, I thought she was younger
Remember...most of her scenes were shot at least 18 months or more ago.
I think she has dwarfism.
Khang Ho hahaha lol wtf
Khang Ho no
Its cleidocranial dysplasia
And its nothing that serious
Like Gaten Matarazzo from Stranger Things, right?
Jeez, Milly Shapiro is an impressive talent, wise beyond her years and so well spoken. Her parents should be proud. I wish her a successful long acting career
Milly is so intelligent and Alex is so cute. Love both of them.
SomtumAngel we can know from what she is talking
Alex was very kind to Milly asking for a round of applause for her. And taking the lead in the interview questions. This is a lot for someone Milly's age and you tell he's trying to make it easier for her.
So sweet!
The car scene and the later funeral scene made me cry in theaters. Just knowing the mothers grief and poor Charlie, even if she was creepy she was still an innocent child. I did not expect that at all
Avery Hodges agreed! I teared up on both those parts
Me too! I also felt so bad for the dad having to hold it together for everyone else. This better win at least one Oscar or I’m gonna💩!
Charlie was never innocent. She was the embodiment of Paimon the whole time
The grandmother put the Paimon the demon in Charlie and Annie brought it in there home 😳
Josh Turenne I think she was her own person combined with the demon. Paimon couldn’t exercise his full possession/influence until a person was very mentally vulnerable. I take at as she’s like half possessed her whole life and then becomes fully possessed in the movie timeline, if that makes sense.
Worked in public defenders office for many years. Alex's reaction to the trauma... I was like YES. Finally a film depicting that people react like humans. Real world kid would have been charged for manslaughter.
Oh no would he really? How would he have gotten off?
I guess I should ask under what circumstances would he be free?
jerrylharbin I think the biggest issue was he was under the influence while driving/taking care of his sister.
It would be involuntary manslaughter, def some time in prison
probably just a few months with a plea and good behavior - and *SPOILER* perhaps he would've delayed or evaded the cult's scheme
i loved this interview so much that it felt like it was only 5 min, i'm seeing this tonight, wish me good luck.
SaloNecio Enjoy! It’s fantastic.
SaloNecio how was it?
Your world is no longer the same.

My gosh, at 15 years old Milly Shapiro is already almost as poised as Meryl Streep.
Karin Allen the next meryl!
give me an audience bigger than five and i'm a blubbering idiot
why would you insult her like that?
Not even close lol
She definitely has an old soul
They were both big time careful on giving away spoilers.
Steve Johnson unlike tom holland lol
The movie title is a spoiler kinda
I love how Alex sticks up for Milly because he was really treating her differently
Fun fact: Alex and Charlie actually went to high school together before they made the movie
Toni Colette was just SUPERB in this movie. Give her that Oscar already!
amen 🙏🙏
That mom in the corner scene got me like "no no no no nope" until it ended
That clicking noise will always make me want to punch whoever makes it in the jejunum
In the what now?

I woke up my fiancé (who I forced to watch this film against her will,) making this noise. Lol poor thing had nightmares all night!

atomixfang Yes!!!!
atomixfang To see Ari’s entire script come to life!! Omg I wish.
I *LOVE* THESE TWO ... so talented, congratulations to them both on this film.
she is ADORABLE!!! unbelievable she was the scariest kid in the movie.
I didn’t find her scary.
His awkwardness is adorable
What awkwardness? He’s super charismatic
@@IvoryMane i think he meant In the movie. Idrk
jennifer half Ikr I’m catching feelings ngl
I love Alex Wolff, he was the best dude!
These young actors are brilliant in this movie. Great film!
I havent jumped or screamed at a horror movie in a good while, but that shot with her from the ceiling to her in the corner charging at him was so well done. No cheap jump scares at all
In the exorcist heads spin,
In hereditary heads are ripped off.
for me, the moment Charlies head got knocked off, and when he was going to bed, Alexxs' emotion was so intense, and so real, I knew EXACTLY how Peter felt. And that part in the film made me feel it too, I could feel the utter panic , because we've all felt it sometime or another in our life, and Alexx portrayed it so perfectly
When a kid is more mature then you..........and I want her dress
Great interview! They’re both so humble and intelligent. Makes me love the movie more.
The movie is originally 3 hours long !? I would love to see that !!!!
Hereditary was such a great movie. I'm usually not thinking about movies after I leave the theater, but the characters in that movie really stuck with me. very creepy.
the next few horror movies I'm looking forward to are Halloween and End Trip.
Kristina Arntz Suspiria should be on your list too i think
I agree with you. This movie was epic and will definitely go on my favorite scary movie list now.
MILLY’S STYLE SHE SNAPPED QUEEN OKGKJFJD
Wow, I wasn't expecting Milly to be so vocal and expressive, in the film as Charlie she always looked so disturbed with that dead look in her eyes
The girl acted brilliantly. Probably one of the best horror films ever. Dare I say, even beating The Exorcist
Cedric Koh woah now
Fever Blanket I'll afmit The Exorcist holds up pretty well in terms of scares and suspense and I'm not calling it bad but the plot and characerisation needed a little more depth for us to care for the characers to make it even more tense. I think Hereditary did well in both terms of plot and horror
I would almost say it stands toe to toe with Exorcist.
Fever Blanket lmao stop overrating the exorcist, it’s not even scary
Fever Blanket but if you compare hereditary is miles better. Hereditary is more brilliant and have more layers compared to the one dimensional the exorcist w/ 1D characters with no depth. The exorcist wasn't scary at all and a scare is not an opinion. The exorcist was scary and that's about it
I hope they do a director's cut of the 3 hours of film.
She is so well spoken and sweet. She is absolutely amazing.
I lovee how poised and articulate Milly is in this interview. Reflecting on the impression I carried into watching this of what I knew about Charlie?...Now that's acting!
I love how this movie descends into madness. :)
Adam Block yes! Very Shining-esque
Totally
“It just smokes crack halfway through”
The acting in this movie is next level, so well done! Doesn’t rely on cheap theatrics to scare you either
look at the way he looks at her while she's talking! he's so proud
This is probably one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. These two kids are amazing.
the burger king story is one of the best things i've ever heard lol. i think that's such a great way to build characters
The scene in the car that they’re taking about is one of the most intense and stomach churning things I’ve ever seen. This movie has a good amount of gore, but they using it so sparingly. This scene scarier than almost any other horror movie I’ve ever seen.
BEST horror film I’ve seen since Sinister. Sooo uneasy and creep factor on 1,000! I’m so impressed and happy with Toni Collette, too. She’s a badass!!! I mean DAMN!
This movie was so disturbing. I love horror movies, but this one was just off the rails crazy intense. It's one that will always stay with you no matter how many years pass by.
Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor right here people. Make it happen.
TheatreofSymphony can they just give all the awards to all those involved in this film?!
All of the awards please!
It's so nice to see the chick who plays Charlie be alive and well after having watched the film.
Totally
Ikr lol
She's so smart and charming
Oh come on, she's cute. She has a unique prettiness to her.
Milly is absolutely adorable. I look forward to seeing more of her work!!
Both of these kids did an astonishing and believable acting job, I especially appreciated the scenes with Millie in the car Alex in shock after the incident and in the classroom. I really hope they get cast for great movies in the future
That my favorite actor Alex Wolff of The Naked Brothers Band and Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle, I like him! Alex was rocks awesome!! 🎼🎸
TJ Radway oh my gosh wat he’s from the naked brothers band awwwhaha I love that
Omg he’s from naked brothers band I’m shook
Alex is phenomenal and Milly is so adorable. Two absolute show stealers. ❤️
HOW DID ALEX GO FROM FISHING FOR LOVE TO BEING A DEMON KING?!?!
Demon *kween*
I hope we get to see Alex Wolfe in more films in the future he’s honestly such an incredible actor
omg they’re so cute I love their dynamic
Two amazing actors in one outstanding movie!! Alex's acting is of the charts!! When his mom is possessed by Charlie, and his reaction in the classroom, are 2 scenes that stuck with me afterwards.
Alex wolf did an amazing job. Specially when he's sitting in school and bangs his head on his desk. Wow..he did awesome. Loved it! It really was so psychological thriller. It gave me the creeps.
Milly and Alex are so awesome and worked together great with this film... I really felt like they were brother and sister, and it broke my heart with what happened on the first true scene in the beginning... I cried for Milly... I couldn't quit thinking about this film emotionally until I looked up this interview of these two together... It made me feel better knowing that they are both doing great and no harm was done to these two in this film... I was simply heart broken about what happened to Charlie... I can't say that enough, even though I've said it twice now...This is a must see film of all time. I loved it so much even though it brought out so many emotions that I honestly didn't want to touch upon. With that said, I'm glad they did and I will never forget this epic movie experience...
Wonderfully precocious is the perfect way to describe her
The part were the mother bangs head nonstop has left me scar ...very good movie better then those cheap jumps cares in other films
i flipped when i found out he was the little brother from naked brothers band. he looks nothing like he did as a kid
Yes!! Thank God you guys go these actors for an interview
This film really got to me. Absolute masterpiece.
During the first half of hereditary I thought the boy was being played by Nat Wolff (Alex’s brother) and I was so proud of him for picking himself up after the disastrous Death Note movie and actually doing a good job on this one. The only thing I couldn’t understand was how his mole had moved from his chin to above his lip.
It took me way to long to realize that it wasn’t him at all.
The biggest mystery of Hereditary is that Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne somehow gave birth to Alex Wolff.
I mean. I know I'd want a paternity test done if my kid looked that different.
Will McEwan Same, I thought the twist would be that Peter was adopted and the creepy stuff was some inherited mental illness that he’d be immune to, or something lol.
Lol
Also, Odelay ❤️
Steve and Annie probably adopted Peter to avoid the curse.
Alex Wolff is sooo cute and adorable ughhh love him protect him at all cost ❤️
I’d die for Alex Wolff and Milly is precious
god I'm in love with Alex
Milly's dress is so freaking pretty!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
No he and Toni Collette are co-stars. Her screen time, her role and her performance was equally and important and impressive
Excellent interview with two very lovely, talented actors. Alex's performance in that scene after the accident was superb and haunted me for days.
ironic how he refers to everything being ‘nuts’ hahahahha
Can’t wait to see where Milly goes from here!! Fearless and flawless talent. She killed it.
I dragged my feet seeing this movie. Finally saw it last night. Blew me away. Tension made me squirm and the payoff is jaw dropping. Creepy imagery stays with me far longer than jump scares.
I find him so handsome 😍
I really hope Milly continues doing great stuff. Would love to keep seeing her decades down the line.
26:12 "I'll be there girl" 😂😂
I think Milly and Alex already have a bit of a brother/sister dynamic to me in real life, maybe that's just me but the way they seem to interact with each other here is very friendly and very supportive of each other; perhaps that's just a byproduct of the fact that they played those roles in the movie
The scariest part for me is the grandma in the beginning appearing when the lights are off and disappearing when the lights are on
