Hybrid Turbo & Full Suspension Fiesta ST - One Take

- This Fiesta ST, despite its in-your-face Ken Block looks, is the most well balanced and fun to drive Fiesta ST's we've seen It balances big power with a finely tuned coilover suspension, the right tires, and the right exhaust, to bring the whole package together really nicely.

Matt if you started with a fiesta all over again would you go hybrid turbo or with the bigger turbo ?
TheSmokingTire
just pin it.
TheSmokingTire want to sell your Boomba shift kit?
Is this a 1.6? Or higher?
Never mind... But question: How the F*** can you squeeze that power from a 1.6 without blowing it? I mean, i would never try this under 2.5. I would b to frightened to do it! Any thoughts?
Matt Is the main reason I bought my 14 ST after seeing his video, I have a stage two Cobb tune 3” exhaust, short shift kit and sticky Michelin pilot sport tires, it has 102,000 miles on it and it still runs great, my friends can’t believe my clutch is stock, these cars are Tuff and you can beat on them, it’s 9 years old now and I’m 74 years young and love driving on three wheels, as I’m on my 6th set of tires. The Fiesta Flash
Thanks for the kind words about our shifter! Glad to hear you liked the feel of it.
BoombaRacingInc any chance for a discount on the same kit ?? 😀
If you buy before the end of today and enter the code "TAXSAVE" it'll take 10% off your whole order!
Your shiftier plate and bushings are great. I only grabbed the plate and bushings and wouldn't fuck with a thing. The car shifts as smooth as butter. If I had any problem with your kit, you would have heard by now, that should say something.
I love my boomba shifter and plate bushings.
I've got the same kit and its an absolute must have upgrade!
I think I just completed Smoking Tire Bingo. I got Fiest ST, On Center Steering, Corner Balancing, trashing an E46, Pilot SuperSport straight across.
What about mid-corner bumps?
Love the color and wheels first off! The mods are well thought out and you can clearly see the results!
This is in my top 3 favorite cars so far on TST!
Just picked up a fiesta ST last night and everything I’ve heard about these things being so fun is 100% true!
I love this Fiesta. This is the perfect template. So happy I picked up the FiST over the FoST.
Johnny CincoCero you would recommend the fiesta over the focus?
Absolutely. It's a friggin go kart! And you don't see as many on the road...which I like!
I drove both at the dealership before I made the decision and went home with a Fiesta. The better car of the two is the Focus, but the Fiesta is much more fun. Though I honestly have to say that the Golf GTI is so much nicer and I would've bought one if it wasn't so pricey.
Johnny CincoCero that’s funny I went to go by a Focus and after driving both ended up buying the FiST
@@sales8026 I've heard that alot from others....drive both and end up in the fiesta. If you only care about having the most options and something a little more fancy and/or larger the focus is the better car but the better drivers car is the fiesta. Its alot easier to add decent amounts of power (especially cheaply in the fiesta st) than it is to drop 500 lbs from your curb weight. I have about 4 grand total in go fast parts and in making over 280 to the tires with an x37 turbo custom tuned by PD tuning running full bolt ons. It's more than powerful enough to take down basically any focus st that has the stock turbo regardless of mods. It is also now 600 lbs lighter than a stock focus and it is so fun to drive it's like a real fast go kart lol. I still prob have about the same invested total that I I'd have in a loaded bone stock focus st
It looks like a little Focus RS
I agree, because it's a 5 door probably so it's a longer wb
Same wheelbase as the 3 door.
I am now sold on the cpe exhaust, sounds so perfect!
Every time I watch one of your Fiesta ST videos, I have to physically restrain myself from running out and getting one. Damn you, Farah! I don't NEED another car!
I love these one take video. It just gives you a nice peak at what these cars are like without the full review which are often full of a lot of stuff that I don't care about.
Good morning everyone
Eric Sade good morning eric
what's this, a pleasant exchange on the internet? Quick, someone bring up Donald Trump
Andrew D. Royappa Donald Trump
Not my hotel.
I can see the Fox in the background. Glad to see Matt still enjoying it!
6:50 "This ones tighter than it looks" always a pleasant surprise down there..
;)
Oh god one of matts favorite cars... I already know he's ganna have a good day in this video
I'm just in awe of how quick that thing turns. I don't think I could live with one but I'd love to drive one.
Joshua C they are a blast
I love seeing Matt still get so excited about these things. You really can't compete with the zippy, rotating, fun nature of the car. Really looking forward to slowly transforming mine over time
How i love these one takes. Such a joy to watch after a long day at work.
this build is dialed! great job Daniel. thanks for sharing man
Those turbo noises from the outside are intoxicating.
Gotta love that Caralho plate, genius.
i would love to see a whole build breakdown, i have a 2019 st and this is literally the perfect setup
Now I'm from the UK and I own a fiesta but not the ST, I have the little Zetec S with the 1L Ecoboost engine. and i think its the most fun car I've ever driven. Plus its no slouch and has some victories under its belt ;)
DestroPlays I’ve got the 1.4 mk6 as my first car, do fun
The colours on this thing. Looks dope.
Enjoyed this one take a lot more than the recent ones for some reason! Nice car
You can tell it's a fun car at 8:05 when you can hear the tires squeal and then they both laugh in unison like there was a joke that no one else heard in those tires, and then keep talking without missing a beat.
I test drove a stock Fiesta ST and loved it. I can only imagine how fun it would be to fully enhance the car all the way around.
I would never make a suspension any firmer if I tuned a car - love the driving style of for example a miata, little bit of lean, easy to throw into a corner, still very comfortable
Well, love the plate (portuguese word) xD
Jose Pedro aqui é um pouco do Brasil poha! Opa, caralho! Nice fiesta, clean, loud sound, but the wheels it's so so, Ken Block liked it!
Noticed it too! Wondering if he's Brazilian or Portuguese...
there's a Brazil's flag in the back plate. Pay attention to the fist seconds of the video.
Yeah, this was the first thing i've noticed.
Nahhh... can't have a positive id on the Brazilian flag... it surelly looks like it, but even in 1080p i couldn't be positive on that...
that car makes the right sounds
That was a great ride. Thanks Matt.
love what u did to this car..and color on point!! A baby Focus RS:)
I can't wait to see this car at the ST meet this Saturday
Dat bone stock Eclipse at 3:49
ya I'm going to go get it tonight ;)
***** I miss proper eclipses, they were so cool.
Not a GSX unless they changed the wheels
GST was turbo FWD, early 2nd gen cars had straight 16" 5-spoke wheels, while the GSX was turbo AWD and had curved 5 spoke 17" wheels.
Later 2nd gen facelift models had different 16 inch 5 spoke wheels for the GST (the ones on the car in this video), and 17" split 5/10 spoke wheels on the GSX.
The one briefly seen in the video is most likely a GST, facelifted model with the taller rear wing. The non-turbo facelifted model had the lower rear wing from the earlier 2G cars.
this is by far and away the best looking fiesta I've ever seen. dat color doe!!!
Amazing, from a uk fiesta st 300whp X47 owner
Those X-37 hybrid turbo's from Pumaspeed are pretty good , they need to open a shop in the USA.
This makes me want to get a Fiesta ST. Great One Take as always!
the fiesta st, to me is such a cool car. Ford took something that ordinarily wouldn't be that cool and just made it so awesome. it's a small economy car that scoots around! love it!
The only thing I would add is a pair of matte white racing stripes, Cobra style but that's just me because unlike stripes. man I really love this car!!
those wheels are SO sick
That stock interior is killing my eyes, but the exterior and Sound is very cool!
FORD! Keep making these affordable fun fast cars!
Introducing the new Ford : Middle Finger Mach E
That road and scenery just damn awesome and im from wales but this road looks fantastic :)
@8:04 That bro moment was legit
I didn't like the Fiesta ST and then I watched this video... Nice car man! Well done! I'm a Subaru guy but I can appreciate tastefully modded cars like this one.
Makes me want to go drive my fiesta ST with 350whp :)
Tried to talk Matt into installing a hybrid on their car like 3 years ago on the forum when they claimed “242whp” on the stock turbo which... btw.... no one has come even remotely close to at all since lol. Race gas or rocket fuel, the stock turbo is done at 195-205whp. Nearly 5 years in fiesta ST and I STILL LOVE IT.
Love this car
The real star of this video is at 3:49!
Damn, I'm thinking my stock ST is pretty much enough power to use on our roads. This looks insane!
Love this car, this is almost exactly how I WOULD like to spec mine out (plus LSD and maybe bigger brakes) but this is supposed to be a low key DD/commuter car for me. Trying to resist but the temptation is strong, especially after this video!
Matt, you managed to somehow get me to test drive a Fiesta ST, and it was everything you said it would be. Currently own a TT 225 and it's making me question trading it for one. Damn you!!
This is my favorite color for this car
Haha the "in-your-face Ken Block Looks" comment in the description! That was my first thought too
this wrap reminds me of the nitrous blue on the RS
i was always interested in fiestas, but the looks never really convinced me. But somehow this one really tickles my fancy.
That number plate doh, only the good ones understand
Lol, Matt will drive the E46 community crazy once again.
I'm getting my x37 installed tomorrow I'm excited
That's the perfect Fiesta ST
Nrvous 30 should have got the 3dr though
@@ikebuttle360 3 door is not available in the United States
Daniel really put a time on getting his Fiesta right. Glad Matt liked the set up!
FYI I took the night photos of his car including the one in the intro of this video. Anybody in OC with a nice ride who wants a shoot let me know on my UA-cam channel or instagram @photos_by_rob
Thanks again for everything you do man. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have this car.
Anytime.
Daniel Lopez ST meet this Saturday in LA?
Matt, how do you guys deal with police patrolling those roads? I'd be scared shitless there's a speed trap around every corner, honestly.
Walker Carroll there aren't speed traps around every corner. If a cop wants to write tickets he (or she) will just sit on the side of the freeway on the edge of town. Much easier pickins
But you do this everyday to make videos on a popular UA-cam channel. Surely the CHP are aware of whats happening. In NY if the cops got word of people driving 100 mph on the goat trail, they'd call about a dozen cops to set up road blocks and give everyone misdemeanor reckless driving charges.
Doctor Ferdinand You think someone is gonna sit up there every day, with 250 miles of canyon roads, and wait to see if on the off chance I might drive by while filming? Please. What a waste of time.
TheSmokingTire These are cops Matt, wasting time and money is what they do best. Maybe it really is different in California, but in NY the cops would happily waste those resources if they knew enthusiasts were driving triple digit speeds.
Come to LA man, these cops have real things to do. The forest is a huge, unpopulated area in which police radios Do. Not. Work. It would be very dangerous for a cop to choose those roads to catch speeders where they can't call for backup, when the alternative is sitting on a safe freeway for 10 minutes and picking off people all day. A ticket is a ticket; cops aren't vindictive enough to target enthusiasts specifically at the risk of their own safety. And as someone who grew up driving the Bear Mtn roads, trust me, the goat trail is nothing like the ANF. California is the only reason I can make these videos. That's why I almost never do them anywhere else. I'm taking advantage of specific unique conditions which exist for me.
the Fox body at 1:35 😍
This thing is a little beast! Damn!
The sky had me trippin
great looking ST! awesome wheels too
Awesome ride. Thanks for sharing.
Guys, your sky broke.
Brought to you in rainbow-tastic Shroom-O-Vision™.
Sounds amazing
When i see fiesta i instantly like
Looking to get a fiesta ST and checking out so many videos. Don't know why though because I've uploaded a bunch of videos on my mates ST230 lol
Nice video, Matt.
Matt seems stoked af
This might be old news now but as a new 2017 FiST owner, I sure would like Daniel to post his build sheet. This is another great video by Matt with almost 140,000 views. Sure this channel is entertaining, but it also serves as a source of great information for enthusiasts. That is, of course, if the car owners share information. Matt--is there anyway you can get specific information about the suspension mods on this Fiesta? As much as you liked it, it sure would be nice to know what Daniel is running.
I can't get the Fiesta ST out of my mind...replacing my daily in May and while things like the Jag XE, BMW 2/3, Mercedes C-Class, used 997s/Caymans, etc. are well within my means, there's just something I absolutely adore about the Fiesta ST. It's gonna be a tough decision, the only thing holding me back is road noise, and in terms of appearances, non-car folks don't 'get' the Fiesta ST...just something I need to get over I suppose ;)
Dollar for dollar fiesta st all day over focus st and pretty much any other new comparable car in the 20k price range.. Fiesta is also holding into its resale value very well and I'd suspect when said fiesta or focus is paid off with 100k miles, they'll be worth close to the same if not fiesta will be worth slightly more! Great video Matt I watch everyday greetings from Ohio and Vegas I travel between for work!
Love those Turbomacs.
Sounds pretty good for a small 4 banger
looks and sounds epic, great car!
Nice plate choice
At 08:05 you can hear him hit that squirrel going into the corner though... :-) Sweet car and great video, Matt. That Robin's Egg Blue is butt ugly though, imo.
That's an angry little car, Jesus.
haha 283 to the wheels only solid for this paperbox :) ? Thats a lot for Fiesta's weight, around 265 per tonne. Focus RS has "only" 222. Though it honestly didnt seem like it has 283whp, shouldve been a handful with fwd. Did it feel that powerful?
Can someone explain to me the hybrid turbo type?
Petar Bogdanov ah I see. I thought it was perhaps like a twin scrolled turbo but with one of the scrolls being electrically spinned instead of standard exhaust gaz
could be a mix and match like housings and wheels from diffrent brands or an electric motor/fan assisted turbo wich reduces spool times/turbo lag (like they use in F1 these days)
generaly u keep exhaust turbine and change only compressor side on stock turbo. It allows to keep turbo manifold etc.
LOL at electric fan..haha its a stock turbo with modified compressor, bigger and better design.
Yeah, that makes sense. Iirc, I think the Fiesta ST has a K03 where the turbine housing is integrated with the manifold, so there's an obvious incentive to keep the hot side when upgrading.
I've heard a lot of good things about these cars, but have yet to drive one. And, they are FWD...do they have a magic diff' that makes them deliver the power effectively??
Justin's Pit Lane Nope, they come with an open diff from the factory. They just work. Light (relatively) car with a small, quick-spooling turbo combined with a balanced chassis and good factory suspension set-up make for a fun ride, and great template for modding.
Dan Miller Thanks for the info, interesting. How about the Focus ST, same diff? I guess I could go search myself 😆
fiesta bro
Both are open diff with "torque vectoring" which is a fancy term for using the brakes to control torque steer.
The Fiesta handles incredibly well for what it is. In my experience, it really only understeers if you come into a corner too hot. It rotates like crazy. I loved mine, very fun car. I do enjoy my BRZ more overall though, but the Fiesta is a better daily.
Yea, that's what I hear on how they drive. Very popular in autocross which is where I have seen them the most, just yet to drive one. Thanks!
Is the fiesta st one of your favorite cars Matt? I feel like I always hear you talking about them
love my fist, especially since its the 2 door just waiting for warranty to run out so can throw bigger snail in it.
Abu Jason Al-Blahino na we call them fist as in short for fiesta st
You seem like a person who enjoy's their own fist, you know your driving a girl's car right?
Vax Buster Yeh love fisting myself. Couldn't give 2 fucks of its a girls car, I enjoy the car a lot and for me its a lot funner to drive compared to my r33 gtst and rx7.
Spud Dog judging by your channel description you clearly don't own a r33 or rx-7 I doubt you even own a bone stock fiesta.
Dodge 318 Cummins LMAO
When you said "Hybrid Turbo" I thought he managed to get his hands on one of the upcoming electric-turbocharger from Honeywell. Bummer. But, awesome ride.
Wears a mountune T shirt but uses Cobb and Pumaspeed.
Dat loyalty.
Loyal to the speed gods, pay homage to all of them.
I have parts from both companies.
D O P E
I love my ST
someone give matt a properly built 7r or gti MANUAL!
If you or Rob are ever in Florida and want to test a 2017 BRZ stock but with a catback exhaust, let me know! The revised suspension is really well-tuned for street driving, I think!
Wow, dope fiesta.
Matt ever thought of getting another Fist? As you seem to love them so much.
Thks guys.
Cant wait to get my TypeR
Seems like a great car. grats man.
Can you update the build link at Wheelwell in the description? It just goes to the main Wheelwell screen for me.
Hey Matt, you still have yet to test a Fiesta ST with a Torsen LSD in it. I've got an M-Factory diff in mine and honestly its the best bang for buck modification you can do. A friend of mine who spent $2500 on an Intake, downpipe, exhaust and tune drove mine and he attested to the fact that the difference is phenomenal. It completes the car. Until you've driven one with an LSD (either Quaife or M-Factory) you haven't done justice to the car's potential.
Hi, I'm new to cars and recently bought a 2015 Fiesta ST, I keep hearing about how it's a big drawback that it doesn't have an LSD. From a daily driving standpoint, what does an LSD make? Or is it primarily for performance driving?
