Punk hasn't even been back for that long and he's pretty entertaining lol. If they push him, he's "burying talent" -- if they take their time with him (which they have) it's now "underwhelming". At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what the IWC thinks because they'll find a way to hate/complain regardless.

Rollins RKO at Mania 31, RKO to Bourne was the first of its kind, his entire feud with the McMahons in 2008-09 was golden, chokeslam reversal at Mania 21, the list goes on. Anything innovative? He was one of the only wrestlers at the time to go completely mainstream with his "RKO Outta Nowhere" meme. And if you say he hasn't contributed that much to the industry, then you're just completely wrong, he's paved the way for most wrestlers in the 2010s and is continuing to do so.

I was there for his return. Never heard a bigger pop in my life. The return itself was awesome, and his first match back was great as well. But I think too many people are used to the automatic World Title shot like with Lesnar and Goldberg whenever they "return". Punk has been doing some great work, and is now going for the AEW World Title. So no, I don't think it's a "failure" at all because imagine Punk never returned to wrestling? That would have been a bitter way to end his career and his in ring legacy.
To be fair if he never returned his legacy would be heightened and people would be still talking about him as if he was in his prime, today's cm punk isn't as good as he was 10 years ago (obviously) but most people didn't know that before he returned.
I think the reason why he hesitated at first to go to aews because he had bad experience with WWE the reason why he lost his passion for professional wrestling was because of the crap you have to wear through at WWE they even fire him on his wedding day and we know he had his problems with Vince but it's good to see him back in professional wrestling because he found his love a professional wrestling again because of aew and working with Tony Khan

I think Shawn Michaels is the most influential from an in-ring standpoint as a lot of younger wrestlers just getting their start tend to model their work style after his. He's an easy top 5 pick for sure and I don't think placing him at #1 is too far fetched.

The midcard comment is 100% spot it, that was the secret of the attitude era. There almost wasn't ANY low-carders, that was like Sunday Night Heat if it existed. The entire roster was made up of midcarders who brought us entertaining matches and segments, making the whole 2 hour show watchable and then some. It was super easy to go from segment to segment because you actually wanted to get this week's update of each storyline.

His return has been nearly perfect. Everything from the Last Dance to the build to All Out > him struggling for a couple months to get his footing back > the Eddie Kingston program > the feud with MJF which in turn made Wardlow as well. Punk just gets pro wrestling. The only minor gripe I have was he should have just taken one or two powerbombs by Wardlow in their match. Taking ten and then somehow winning with a roll up was unrealistic

For me, the feud with MJF alone has made CM Punk's return super amazing. It was (so far) the best American pro wrestling feud of this decade.
I absolutely love CM Punk's current run, but I can see why people say it's been underwhelming. The reason is, when he went away CM Punk was a molten star held down by management and misused in a system that the fans were turning on. When he came back he was in a promotion that featured him, treated him as a top star and listened to what the fans want. It means his work is just as good (if not better), but without the us against them story that made him such a big deal in the first place he's not as impactful people wanted him to be.

It’s a failure because it’s not with WWE. People wanted him in WWE feuding with Roman, Seth, Vince, Triple H (the last two using proxies). Hell, if he returned to WWE he probably would have faced Stone Cold in the main event of WM Saturday.
Unlike the rest of the IWC, I actually think he’ll return to WWE. But he’ll be too old to really have a proper run.

I have loved his run since he came back and he is the most over now then he has ever been in terms of constant massive pops and fam engagement. His feud with MJF is one of his best ever and I even loved his short feud with Eddie Kingston. He hasn’t buried anyone because he is a massive name in AEW that whoever he wrestles feels bigger by association.
However, I think the wrestling fandom was more interested in seeing the initial return and pop then the run that would follow it. That’s been my opinion. I thought the AEW debut was perfection and whilst I think it took maybe a tad bit to long to start the Kingston feud I felt like everything from when the Kingston feud started to now has been great. Really excited for Page vs Punk because of how unpredictable it is. It does feel like the two biggest stars fighting and no one really knows who will win. The more proven draw and bigger star or the home grown talent that the company spent 3 years building up? Both are good answers and I genuinely don’t know where they will go

Punks return is literally everything most of us wanted, and exactly what he himself wanted. He wants to have good matches with good wrestlers, good storylines to build up to those matches, and to put over good talent in the process. Punk is literally having one of his best career runs ofc behind the 2011 run. I think the best way to make it even better, is to have him turn heel and hit a low blow something at double or nothing, then he wins the title in dirty fashion, and then builds up a new stable like straight edge society. Either that, or have the bullet club come in and then he becomes the new leader and jay white let’s him become the leader. It would make the bullet club a massive thing in the wrestling world once again, and it gives a spotlight to jay white. Plus, there’s only 4 guys in the BC rn, they can fit another, and we gotta see heel punk one more time. I think him being that badass, yet weasel type heel would be fun, and they can have jay white become tnt champ. They can also have Serena deeb join too, and have all 3 OG members of straight edge society back together again. This storyline right here is what would elevate punk’s comeback to wrestling, and make it even better

Ever since Cm Punk made it into AEW, he was one of the reasons why many of the 13 million people worldwide tuned in watching the program because that was the smartest thing that Tony khan had ever did for signing him after wards punk was never boring to when he legitimately put on a lot of banger matches since he’s fued with Darby Allen now this is where it’s gonna get fire for punk to take on Adam page as a big dream match for the AEW heavyweight championship.

Me personally, my problem with the 2015 RR isn't necessarily Roman winning but the fact that Daniel Bryan got eliminated too soon. If they had Roman and Daniel as the final two in that match it would've been more exciting but with Daniel being eliminated early in the match it made it extremely obvious Roman was gonna win.
I mean I totally respect your opinion but I have to disagree because the way he won it was just absolutely pitiful. From the dreadful booking of the match to having The Rock come to his aid which didn’t help either because he also got booed as well. On top of that, Roman it just wasn’t ready at the time because how WWE completely rushed him to the main event instead of just letting him get over organically.
It is your opinion so I am not going to say that it is absolutely wrong, but it feels like it was not "perfect." They could have built him up way better than that, he was pretty much pushed too fast that no one was on his sid, especially the fans. They could have let him go after the mid carder championships first, since he have won the tag team championships as SHIELD. Then he could have been a popular star that people stood beside with. And then winning the RR, making the wrestlemania spot that made him the main eventer. It took him too much time to just make him suddenly getting all of the stars as his victim, and failed to push someone that people would think that he is "THE ONE" to dethrone him where he is at right now.
His return has been damn near perfect imo. His pop on his hometown return was amazing, and his matches are great for someone who had a 5 year layoff. And that long-term storytelling with MJF is beautiful. CM Punk vs MJF is one of the greatest pieces of storytelling I've ever seen in profesional wrestling. Now it seems a path to the AEW championship is inevitable, and I think it's been a nesr perfect return.
Punk’s return definitely isn’t a failure. He’s been doing exactly what he needs to do. It was a little rough at first with him cutting the same promos but he’s found his groove and its been great since then. His feud with MJF was incredible and one of the best feuds of 2021 and 2022. I’m looking forward to see what he does in the future.

I can agree with the guy that talked about the mid card needing more love. Although, for us to treat the mid card as something that is prestigious WWE needs to treat it as such. There are very key moments when they do like having Big E win the IC championship on the main event of Smackdown or what just happened with Austin Theory in making it a big deal that Vince is mentoring him and as a result he won the US championship.
However, the issue comes in where they have things happen like not having the US or IC champions defend their titles in a high profile match with a good storyline at WrestleMania. The other thing I think about is the fact that we have those champions lose on TV in non-championship matches which really hurt the credibility of those champions being great, Finn Balor as the most recent example.
I think other than his arrival and the MJF form it’s all been really boring, I also don’t think he’s as great as many wrestling fans try to make out.

That was more then the title, that was about family. So they can use a similar story for the Rock.

Punk has had a great balanced return. He had great matches against pillars in Darby and MJF, had a good match against powerhouse Hobbs, his promos have been great, and he’s gonna get a title shot next with the feeling I think he will lose to Adam Page but in spectacular fashion (next person I see getting the AEW title is MJF).
I hope punk wins the, AEW world championship at, Double or nothing.

Ever since Punk came to AEW. He did an incredible job there. Did they fell asleep from his rival against MJF,which is one of the all time best things happened in AEW. He did a lot of great matches and he still does. I can’t wait for his match with The Hangman at Double Or Nothing.

I've seen very less matches or storylines of CM Punk, and in any day of the week i'd say his best rivalry was with MJF, after that nothing is that exciting, i had tried to watch more of his matches but at the end i always dropped it, maybe things would get intresting after Hangman Page versus Punk, but as of now, Punk's All Elite's run is not that much intresting as we imagined it to be before Punk debuted in AE DUB.

When CM Punk returned to wrestling, only at AEW last year in in the summer of July/August 2021, I wish the surprise hadn’t been spoiled due rumors, and where he was, this and that. Like, if someone was being attacked or someone like MJF cutting a promo, and eruption happens, that would’ve been 10x more better. Though, Cm Punk is back, and he’s better than ever, still is in great shape, I just hope AEW doesn’t ruin him and give him potential. And I don’t think WWE is gonna ever want CM Punk back for sure. Though it is highly a big POP, if that were to happen. I think not. I do have hopes of seeing Chris Jericho and CM Punk feud one day, especially after their feud in WWE 2011

i think CM Punk's Return to Wrestling was good in my opinion but i feel like and i knew he was never going back to WWE because he said in many interviews that he doesn't really see his self back over there like that so i think he made a good choice by joining AEW and now Tony Khan is letting him go after the AEW World Title now

Things that CM Punk said with his own mouth, and Twitter posts that he posted that were not really understandable, and the actions that he did in ROH, is something he has to carry and have it as a scar in his life. But right now, his recent feud with MJF was very good. Sure is a fact that he can make few scenes interesting. AEW is just starting to be good as the time goes on. Not that they are doing best on everything, still needs some adjustments on few things.

Realistically, what matters the most is if Punk is having fun wrestling again. People have wanted him back for years and now he's back. He's having fun in the ring again, but he knew early on that people's opinion of him will change over time because that's just how it is.
Aside from Punk, the midcard in WWE needs some love. Maybe Theory being the US Champion could be a start, but he still needs some work. Hopefully with Vince McMahon by his side, he would see that the midcard titles need some love. On Smackdown, if everyone from the Bloodline are still holding the titles, Solo Sikoa should move to Smackdown when the time is right and win the IC title and help elevate that title as a group.
