So great to see a man, at the zenith of a career, having done everything someone can hope to have done, and here he is with three amps and three basses basically saying "I can do pretty much everything I need with this stuff right here."
    Tremendous!

As a guy who goes on the road with a small local group, I really appreciate the "I don't want to give the sound guy EQ issues", as well as keeping your gear to a minimum. That makes loading and setup alot less work. You can enjoy the music more. Thanks again!

Leland before i came to your channel i had no glue about your musical history and so on.But a few weeks ago somebody gave me a dvd from Toto live and i saw you playin on there and it blew me away.
I'm a musician (Bluesguitarplayer and Writer, singer, but im not in the public)i'm just doin it for myself and i played here and there in my area germany small gigs in pubs or on the street)However i started when i was 14 and by now i'm 54.As time goes by.For a few years ago i'm fighting with some health problems which are a really drag sometimes. But i try to keep the good spirits up.Apart from that a few month ago i started an old hobby again, and i'm building ship modells. So i had totally forgot how much i missed it.The good side thing about building these modells is that i found out that these work is good for my fingers. It changed my style on guitar in a interesting kind of way.
Anyway.Take care of yourself and stay healthy.Have a nice day an God Bless You🙏Thank you for this channel and sharing your expierince and knowledge.

Thank you for showcasing your equipment arsenal, Mr. Sklar. Additional thumbs up to anyone that has owned and played Taurus pedals.
You may know by now (9 days out from Easter) that you were perfectly visible at the beginning. One could hope that you’re showing up on camera if you can make eye contact with the lens. That’s how I perceive it when I shoot Facebook live clips with my iPad (I detest selfie mode). Signed - a legally-blind musician.
Perhaps, you could help me out with a query. My old instrument retailer told me playing slap bass on a fretless fingerboard has a deleterious effect on the fingerboard. How true is that?

It's cool to see a world class session and touring musician to have just a few basses and amps, nothing too fancy and not 100 different basses and amps. I have 3basses myself. A Fender Pbass, A Warwick 5 string Corvette, and a Warwick FNA Jazzman, looking to sell the Jazzman for a EB Music Man Stingray. And I play a through a Mesa WD800 tube amp, beautiful sounding amp. Each Bass sounds completely different and serves a different purpose. I have just a few pedals, DG VMT overdrive, DG DI pedal, and Compressor.

I think the pickup placement on traditional basses was to cater for early muddy bass amps (same rationale for Strats and Teles) that needed all the treble an instrument could muster. These days, I'm totally with you: pickups want to favour warming up the tone towards the treblier strings by moving them closer to the neck.
