Is it 10 years or 30 years long dated bonds they invested?
A small correction dear doc saab, our RBI gives bank guarantee to all it's retail customers upto 5 lakhs instead of 2lakhs only as u said sir. So if deposits r maintained upto 5 lakhs and below then their money can be guaranteed if deposits goes above 5 lakhs then one has to bear the loss on insolvency by the bank

Not situational. It is clear case of asset liability mis management. Every one knows interest is rising or going to rise last one year or so. They could have shuffled the bonds from long term to short term.
By this situation you called every US Bank should fail!!!! But it is not the case.. let's see
It's long term bonds,Not possible to take money whenever Want.Till maturity they have to wait
They invested in 2020 itself
@@jagadeeshjaga75 Long term bonds also traded. US treasury only. They did not react properly.They should have booked small loses in 2021 at a time when they knew about possible interest rate hike. But allowed to pile notional loss and they sold this in mach with huge loss!!
