thank you for supporting Goodwill. my son loved working at the Goodwill in our area. I look at my purchases from Goodwill as a way to recycle and keep usable items out of the landfill and providing work for people that may not find work elsewhere. thank you for sharing your experiences, the good and the bad.
Just a thought Chuck. Build another of those brooders along the wall. Leave it empty. WHen you need to get the poults out due to soiled bedding just set em up in your spare while you clean and reset the other one for your third. During the spring summer fall you can add it to capacity and have it for the winter mode. Hope all is well. If it weren't for farmers and truckers we'd all starve.
Good idea. We’ve build another, much bigger brooder, that will help us do exactly what you are talking about. It’s 8x8 and will hold 250 chicks. We are going to keep these 2 smaller ones for overflow and holding if we need to clean out or work on something. Great suggestion!
Raising turkeys for the first time is a learning lesson, the tim is very protective of his flock, my wife has to carry a rake to protect herself from rhe tom hahaha good video mate
I purchased your brooder plans last summer and I am so happy that I did! I absolutly love my brooder box! I'm planning on building 3 more this spring. I'm going to use two of them for Quail growout pens; one for maes and one for females.
Goodwill and Salvation Army has been my go to stores for years. GW Monday tag day $1.79. I have found bran new jeans, dress slacks, coats, farm clothes and coats, small appliances and spend a minor fraction of what the cost is in retail stores. Hope the turkeys are doing ok outside.
I sent you some hangers that I think are slick as snot on a door knob 🤪lol. I use to hang my light's , feed and water, so I can raise and lower them while my birds are growing. Says estimated delivery Monday . Great job Ryan 🤪 Todd
@@SheratonParkFarms I told ya to get some a couple of years ago , 🤪 have fun and hopefully you won't loose any more turkeys , in a couple more weeks ya can't kill them. They are like light switches either on or off. They go from fragile to hardy.
I put turkeys & broilers outside with lamps, cardboard, & tarps, in a more flimsy structure from day one-thats their brooder. Put no hay in corners, just under lights. This has worked for 20 years, no matter what outside temp is. They get grass from day one.
Turkeys seem to die if you look at them wrong during the first 2 weeks, they also like to pile on top each other and smother themselves… it’s actually amazing there are still turkeys in the wild, living without the help of humans…
You can use either a 10x12 or 10x14. The 14 go all the way to the ground and I actually prefer them to the shorter ones. www.amazon.com/dp/B0035RQLK8/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_glt_i_0AH9HSF7FH0CGGXRB7D9?linkCode=ml2&tag=sheratonpar07-20
Hello Chuck, New subscriber. We live and farm in the Texas panhandle northwest of Lubbock. Enjoy watching your videos. Your area is much different than ours. Where might I find links to North Carolina rules and regs for processing and selling farm raised poultry, beef etc to the public. Thanks!
great video! starting chicks soon, hope to add pullets later on this season. I know it's not the norm but I had to price out organic starter feed just for curiosity. Looking at the ingredients label, which has nearly 25 to 30 ingredients I'm a bit concerned. things like synthetic thiamine , l-lysine etc etc. If this is the jazzz that's in organic, what's in regular feed? Do any simple feed mixes exist for chick / layer feed? Thanks
At what age are these birds being processed? What breed are they? We started with 10 last year and 5 decided they no longer wanted to live and checked out. We kept one for ourselves and sold the others. Best turkey ever.
You are correct! It’s Zachariah Hickman. UA-cam has a library of music for video creators that is free to use. As you know, using others music without their permission is a copyright violation so UA-cam provides some options. I tend to stick with their “country/folk” genre as opposed to the “alternative/punk” tunes. 😆
@@SheratonParkFarms we just started a farm UA-cam channel and your music choices have always been a blessing! And yes definitely sticking with the good old fashioned folk/country.

love how honest and humble you are Chuck. Mistakes are all part of the game, as long as you're learning from them!

You are most welcome. Love the coat. It was like $10 and I wear it all the time when it’s really cold out. Goodwill is a great organization.

Very subtle but a great reminder that there’s always a lesson to be learned!

I got my copy of the brooder set up and I must say it’s worth the small price your asking for them

Hello great video. How can i get a copy of the pig meat cut list. Do yall ship the meat out.
I was thinking I could free range turkeys during the day - but do hawks take them?
Do you grind the turkey yourself or have them processed?
Looks like a tall chicken tractor.

Hey Ron. NC rules can be found starting here: www.ncagr.gov/MeatPoultry/info.htm
You may have to dig a little from there. Hope it helps.
Now my wife wants turkeys..maybe will do a dozen or so...we're can I get them up in New england??
Awesome. They are great birds. Most of the hatcheries have them. These came from Hoover Hatchery
What do you feed your turkey poults?
Great video! What is your most popular way to sell your turkeys at the farmers market? Whole half pieces??
Actually ground. People tend to like the ground because there are so many things you can do with it.
