    If you saw this or commented and your comments are gone, it's because I had to delete and reupload. For some reason this video has had a rough go of it... I apologize for the confusion!
    Also, there was a comment on the first upload I want to reiterate here - the black ink is actually really great for people with low vision! I hadn't considered that, and a commenter (I didn't remember who it was, so if it was you please let us know) pointed it out. I think that's a great thing to consider, and I'm grateful they brought it up!

      Cindy Guentert-Baldo So interesting to know about the low visibility issue! I’m also not a fan of lots of black ink, but now it makes sense!

      This is true! Not that my mum is a planner, but she really struggles with grey writing and needs high contrast due to various genetic eye conditions (so I guess I have that to look forward to too!)

    I 10/10 recommend her budget by paycheck system. It’s amazing. I bought the digital version and print it on A5 paper so I can toss it in my rings and carry that month with me...when I’m being super diligent about my budget. 😅
    Thank you for this review. I’ve been following TBM for over a year. Love her and her BBP system, but I just can’t get down with this planner. If it were more neutral (more white space), I may be tempted, though.
    The thing I really like about her is that she LISTENS to her audience. And the next LRP will likely look different based on the feedback she gets on this one.

      I was really interested to see what this would look like too, having followed TBM's system for a while. But I was really surprised that the budget portion didn't look more like her monthly budgeting pages. Getting a good look at the pages makes me wonder if I would have enough room to write.

      Anna Belle did you send the printable to staples or someplace else to get it printed in A5? I want to purchase the printable to discbound punch and am wondering if it could be printed to fit in my Inkwell disc planner. Thanks!!!!

    This is one of my favorite planner reviews of yours! Can’t say why necessarily. I WISH I had a life that needed this planner because it is full of goodness! This planner is 100% functional (with the added bonus of helping with low vision), and if I was in a place where I was truly serious about getting my shit together, this would be the planner. No frills, just function. I am confident there are many people for whom this planner is perfect. Again, I really want it.... BUT I have learned that my brain thinks ACQUIRING the perfect planner will automagically perfect my life. Heh, heh. Screw you, universe; at 48 I’ve finally figured out that ain’t true!! And thankfully, my life doesn’t need this level of planning. My shit is actually together everywhere else except my brain trying to keep up!
    PS - Cindy, your Skillshare class is excellent! You should be really proud of it because you put together a solid class - professional, articulate, and still the Cindy we know and love. 🥰👏🏻

      I'm in it! Mine graduates this year. My advice to you: start saving NOW! What they don't tell you (or I missed the memo) is that you pay for almost everything at the start of senior year when school starts (Senior Picnic, Safe & Sober Grad Nite, Cap, Gown, Announcements, etc, Senior PICS- big one for me) Not to mention the regular things like event card, dances, proms, etc... Whew! Super exciting, but soooooo, expensive!

    I've tried the paycheck budgeting method before, and it's a good concept. However, I suck at budgeting altogether, no matter which form of it I try! lol
    Personally, even "on sale," I think the price for this planner is a little steep--ironic, considering this is from The Budget Mom. I like the layouts, but I agree they could use a little more flexibility. To be completely honest, I might end up rewatching this video, pausing on spreads I want to customize, then make my own in Microsoft Word for my personal use. Keywords CUSTOMIZE and PERSONAL USE! lol
    Seriously, that's a tip for anybody who knows their way around a word processing or desktop publishing program--make your own planner pages! You can steal ideas from planners you like, or you can come up with something entirely on your own. Either way, it's a lot cheaper than spending money on a planner, only to end up not liking it for one reason or another. Just a thought!

    I started budgeting in the EC Deluxe Monthly then got the Budget by Paycheck Workbook and it was a game changer. The way she budgets is super motivating (she was still in debt when I discovered her so I feel like it was more relatable) I have since moved back to the EC Deluxe Monthly (frankenplanned) bc I wanted more room but I still follow her system. 😬

    I’m a bit like you I did purchase this and will be using it as my ride or die one plan for next year. I’m tired of carrying around two or three things that have pieces of all my planning and budget and schedule. Although not perfect nothing is I’m going to give it a shot and hope that this fulfills that.

  • @mariplansalist

    Here are my aesthetic issues with this planner:
    - I love blues and greens, don’t care for succulents but doesn’t really bother me
    - dislike the wire O binding
    - (I love black and grey in general) and am totally ok with so much black
    - agree with the mindset, I can’t think of a mindset every single day 🤷🏻‍♀️
    - love the personal planning, but I don’t clean things daily (#cleaninglady) so I have to repurpose that
    - it’s huge BUT you probably couldn’t get all that info on something smaller. I’m using it as a home planner
    - I greatly dislike the big ass logo on the back cover
    I love that she tried to make it hella functional but again everyone has different uses tastes so this isn’t useful for everyone.

    Thank you for reviewing. I think this planner’s main focus is financial with the addition of “regular” planner pages. So I’m guessing the creator didn’t consider decorating a priority. Understandable. I know there are many who do decorate their budget books (I’ve seen the videos), but I’ve always wondered about buying kits, which can get expensive, to decorate budget books for the purpose of getting out of debt. I scratch my head on that...but maybe it’s just me! I enjoy your videos. Thanks!

    Thanks for showing us this one. I'm thinking this would work well for my life and I'm less concerned with aesthetics than you are. I'm really considering this one for 2020. The layouts look very useable. I love the colors and succulent illustrations. I also like a larger desk-sized planner. I use my phone for portable planning so I love having something pretty like this on my desk. I would like a little better coil binding like you prefer, but it's not a deal-breaker. I also agree with you about the black being too much, but I could live with it for the functionality of the layouts. I'm almost convinced to give it a try.

    It is a nice planner but I don't think that would it be the planner for me. I agree with you about the black was a bit overwhelming. I also would have preferred a blank page with a suggestion on a good way to use it rather two whole pages for tasks and trackers etc. I didn't like the weeklies the hourly set either. I think it should have been blank as well. I guess I am still sticking with my bullet journal. I did like the color scheme though.

    I budget off each bi-weekly paycheck. I was having too hard of a time trying to figure out my expenses on a monthly basis with 26 paychecks in a year with a quarterly incentive. I currently budget in an EC deluxe monthly with a ripped off system I modified after watching JenPlans and other budgeting videos. When I get paid I divvy up the net received based on a zero-based budget. It has worked ouch pretty well for me- I have been following this system now for about 4 years.

    I track all of our spending and savings but would never use a planner to do so...it's soooo much easier to use a spreadsheet and/or Quicken or similar program. I know...different strokes, yada, yada,...Although if you are into time blocking this planner might be ideal...

  • @TinaThevarge
    @TinaThevarge 5 років тому +1

    Thank you for sharing this. I hadn’t had a look at it yet or watched her video. I used to watch The Budget Mom, but now that I've found my own groove with the Budget By Paycheque method, I don’t watch her as much. The method has really helped me out, but for the most part my system uses an app for all the recording. I only use paper for the rough calculations on payday. Now, if I could only reign in my husbands impulse spending we might be able to get ahead... 💰 💴 💵 💸🕯🔥 lol 😆
    Her expenses section, I think is more based on the Dave Ramsey (sp?) system. In her older videos she lists her Bills, the does an estimated total per “Envelope” for variable expenses. So her expense section here is smaller. Before this book she had printable’s that included a chequebook register type sheet to track the actual spending. I didn’t watch her release video so idk why she changed that.

    • @CindyGuentertBaldo
      @CindyGuentertBaldo  5 років тому +2

      I've been looking at the budget by paycheck worksheets to talk over with my husband (we need to be better about savings) - hmm

    • @TinaThevarge
      @TinaThevarge 5 років тому

      It’s definitely a good jumping off point. Just the paper cheque register didn’t make sense for me because my husband does the majority of the weekday spending, picking up odds and ends like milk and veg. There’s no way I could get him to write everything down, it’s not his thing. We do 1 big bulk meat shopping every pay period and I tack all the other necessities in with that.
      The paper cheque register makes sense if you need to identify the areas of over spending. I used to be in bookkeeping, so I’m used to doing the bulk of things on a computer. Her worksheets are a good start, but they were too big for me.
      I prefer doing my calculations in my A5 notebook or on a page in my Filofax. As you see with some budgeters, in a notebook you just need 4 columns. Description, Budgeted, Actual and Difference. There’s allot of youtubers who use the notes pages in an erin condren, but even that’s more space than I need.
      With TBM's system, the main thing is to follow the boxes so you’re calculating things in a sort of order of importance. Income minus Fixed Expenses minus Variable Expenses. If there’s leftovers after that minus “Sinking Funds” aka savings, then if there’s anything leftover make extra debt payments or boost a savings account. As with the Dave Ramsey system, you’re Debt minimum payments are listed with your fixed expenses so at least your not missing payments. He calls the Extra Debt payment a “Snowball”. They’re good templates, I just didn’t want to use a big letter size binder. But if you want to or have the time you can draw out the basics in a notebook and use her calculations as a start.
      Idk, I think I started rambling. I hope you find a system that works for you.
