Thank you so much! I’m a 58 year old women that was diagnosed with rectal cancer 2 years ago. I really don’t feel like my home health nurse really showed or informed me as much as you have about the different types of bags. I’m a 2 piece bag person and use hollister. I’m probably going to request some samples of some different options and brands. I love your videos! I wish I would have watched your videos in the beginning of my journey. I felt so lost and scared. Even now at 2 years I’m still learning about products from you. God bless you sweetheart for guiding in the right direction. I will refer to your videos as needed.❤️
Hi Fonda! Thank you so very much for your kind comment. I am terribly sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but I am so happy that you're conquering your illness. It warms my heart that my video helped you. I think it is always good to experiment with new products, especially because samples are pretty easy to get. If you like having a 2-piece system, which I've been using more and more lately because 1-pieces require more frequent changes, I would highly recommend giving Coloplast's version a try if you're looking to change things up. I love Coloplast's two-piece systems because they're a little better with leak-protection in my opinion. I will put the reference numbers for the 2-piece Coloplast system I like the most so you don't have to fret about matching the wafer with the pouch, but if they are too small for you stoma they also have larger wafer sizes available. You've brightened my day with your story--sending love and prayers of healing ❤️ Mio Click Cut-to-Fit Standard Wear Skin Barrier 3/8" - 1-3/4", Red: 6210512 Mio Click EasiClose Wide Outlet 2-Piece Drainable Maxi Pouch with Inspection Window 50 mm, Red: 6211472
Thank You VERY MUCH. IM A CAREGIVER FOR MY WIFE AND SHE NOW HAS A STOMA AND ITS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE RIGHT BAG AND WAFER SETUP. It’s a recessed stoma. I did not know you can tear off the opaque part of the bag. EXCELLENT VIDEO. MAY GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE INFORMATION. I WISH YOU GREAT HEALTH AND HAPPINESS
I appreciate your channel and information so much. I'm scheduled for APR surgery and a colostomy in Dec. 2021 and I don't know the 1st thing about all of this stuff. Watching you has been so educational and I am thankful there are people like you that are REAL and not embarrassed to share your experience with those of us who are ignorant to all that goes along with having an ostomy. THANK YOU!!!
Hello Fonda 😊 You are sooooo kind, thanks! I promise that it gets easier and easier to cope with bowel disease, and I expect that you will never look back after getting your colostomy in December. For me, it's been nothing short of a miracle. In any case, I am so happy that you've found my channel informative--but don't be too hard on yourself for not knowing much about this stuff. It's a complicated life adjustment and believe me...it's taken me a long time and a lot of practice to learn what I have. You're in my thoughts and I hope you'll keep me updated as your ostomy journey gets underway. I'll be here if you have questions. Stay strong and know that there is immense hope for a better life on the other side of your operation!
Hi Cecily - thank you so much for this video. I'm a recent ostomate using Coloplast items and, embarrassingly, I had no idea that I could modify the opaque bags to become the clear bag. So helpful - thanks!
Hey Cecily, Very nice job on this! I had my permanent ostomy crated back in 1987 at the age of 19. No UA-cam back then so I had to learn by trial and error, which is not fun. One thing about convexity I heard: I believe shallow convexity is best when you have a short stoma, and deep convexity is for very short, almost flat stomas. Normal height stomas may work best with flat pouches. Have you heard that too? Shallow convexity is perfect for me, and I'm a bit on the short side.
My pleasure! It’s a huge problem for me personally. I hope it was helpful for people with the same issue. Most ostomates have some sort of scaring on their abdomen...bag companies should frankly do a better job of making them fit to bumpy stomachs!
I have a urostomy. A year and a half out. Still learning and have just started watching UA-cam videos on the subject and have learned a lot of new info so thank you! My stomach is flash if not a little indented. They sent me home with 2 piece Hollister and I started leaking. Boy did I freak out because I didn’t really know how to change it. The home health nurse came at 10:00 pm but still couldn’t make it work. This was a Saturday night so I sat there with towels until Monday morning when I could call a stoma nurse. She had me come in and fit me with a one piece Coloplast and that has worked well. I recently went two a convex coloplast and that seems to keep my wear even longer. I recently started wearing a light wrap and that helps even more. I always add the barrier extenders but am now going to try the sure seal rings. The hardest part has been the sleeping. I have seemed to leak the most trying to sleep any other way than on my back. I’m hoping with the new tips, sure seal rings, the wrap and whatever else will continue to help. Thanks again, even though mine is a urostomy, I’ve found your videos helpful!
Which bag is good for kids asking for my 5 year old daughter. She is using a 2 piece bag from colaplast. This is what the hospital provided and still waiting on insurance. What kind of bag is good especially when she will be wearing it to school. The bag does tug down, need help with that issue.
I know this is an older video, but just in case a Hollister user sees this video and this comment, Hollister does allow you the option to pull the opaque material off to allow a window to see inside.

Thanks so much. No one else has ever mentioned that opaque bags could be so easily transformed! Not even when I spoke directly the Coloplast rep!

Thanks for addressing the “bumpy ridge” issues. I think a lot of ostomates struggle with bag adhesion and new scars. #gutsquad

Thank you for good information.
Thank you!! You rock!
You're a life saver.
Many thanks..❤
What about if you take a ton of baths? Which one to use?
