I do the Boots, saddles, belts and maybe even a chair ..those saddles look good, I really like the gold champion saddle that is a beauty. Congrats on the 10 grand subscribers!
I was taught to use a cloth or two to wash saddles and bridles dipped in the same oil that you are using after cleaning them.I love the way that you and the family take care of them as a team, beautiful job and your saddles and bridles are in good shape.Hi casey
Hi, Palmers. OMGosh, congratulations on hitting 10K!!!!!!!! That's wonderful and so deserving. I bet when you were all around Grandpa's saddle, he was smiling down on you all. Love you all.
I love the horses, ponies and the other farm animals including the dogs and cats,I learned to to work safely around horses and ponies, handling and riding them including cleaning saddles and bridles as well as cleaning stalls, paddocks etc.I miss equine therapy in edmonton
Yeah, when I had horses, we lived in a damp climate near the Gulf Coast, it's just as important to keep them clean and oiled...oil seals it from mildew...
Nice and relaxing to watch thinking back in the day maybe it would have been nice to oil our leathers but wgo knew, on other hand it would have been another chore for me and my siblings LOL. Congratulations on your 25 years of marriage the silver anniversary.
What a difference that oiling made! Great story about Vicky’s dad’s saddle. Y’all made it a fun family project. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇺🇸👍❤️🐎🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Compound I have been told will rot stitching. Use the pure neetsfoot oil. Also I recommend using a glycerine saddle soap first. Tack care is so important, learning to take care of what we have. Also to investigate any safety issues! Congratulations on 10 thousand subs! Put some new rubber on horn. 😊 I would take off stirrup hobbles and undo metal part to really soak leather under there. I saw a bad wreck from someone who put off replacing a girth and off billet that was worn. Not good! I did cringe when oil got on seat. 😢
I've been told neatsfoot rots the sticking over time but my saddle is 50 years old and I found the neat shoot allows mold to form more quickly than rots the sticking. Mold is a trouble near the rivers in Illinois, especially if you don't get to ride every week.
I use spray saddle soap and a rag and foam it up on the tooling on my saddle and it really gets all the dust and dirt out of the details. Also I really like y’all’s videos 😁
Congrats on 10k! The only thing I’d suggest(and let’s see if I can describe it right) is cut a 4 -5 inch piece of old latigo, poke two holes on either end and thread them up under your current latigo and off billet where they rub against the D rings. Your billets will never wear out and you can replace that little piece of leather whenever it gets too worn through. Something my grandpa taught me and thought I’d pass along. Have a good day!
One thing to keep in mind is to pull the stirrup leathers out to oil where they come up over the saddle tree. This is the most common place for saddle leather to break because people dont see it and thus don't oil it. All your weight is on that leather and can break easily if not oiled. Just give the fender a hard tug or two and oil where it has been bent over.
Congrats on the 10K! When I worked with horses we used a cloth to put the oil on. Does using the paintbrush help get in the groves better? Teamwork is way the way to go. Thank you for sharing. Hugs and love to you and your family. Have a beautiful and blessed week my friend ❤️✝🤗
I use to use the broom handle on the stirrups but on a quick change stirrup it's easy to turn the connection and it automatically changes the stirrups hanging to the needed direction. It took me a couple of tries to change the direction the right directio but it's quick, easy and permanent.
According to don Gonzales veg oil works fine. On that rough out seat you van take a wire brush to it a clean it up real nice make it look real nice there are a few videos on it
You can also use Mink Oil on your Saddles and Bridles. I use to use this product called Smiling Mink on my Saddle and leather goods. It works really well for keeping your things protected.
Good morning Farm. I love your videos and always looking forward to what you guys are up to. The animals look healthy and happy and I just love the way you have it out there. As I said earlier, I hope someday my guy and I can travel down and visit you. I would probably love it so much I will have trouble leaving hahaha. Anyway, Keep up the good work! Hugs from us in Clarksville TN. Mai Larsen & J.K. Coltrain
1st Smalls is looking great. 2nd thanks for reminding me about the saddles. Mine was lite tooled leather, and keeping it lite was a challenge. I think it was a product called Leather New., And Neat Foot oil . Wooh thats going back 40 or so years. Congrats on the 10k.
I usually brush saddle off, then damp wipe saddle; before putting beats foot oil on it. Reason I do that; I get deep into the tooling & crevices to clear all dirt & dust from saddle before the oil. S o the oil gets deeper into all areas of the saddle. Try it, you’ll be happy the treatment lasts longer cause you got deeper in the leather. Good luck.
3 in 1. Oil.....just oiled..the first saddle ive done in. Yr.s......... Always used 3in1 oil on my baseball gloves as long as I can remember..always kept the leather soft..kept the rain out...
I have been away from horses and ponies since 1991 and I am sort of rusty on riding as well as unfit to go riding after several years of not riding a horse mare that I used to lease, hopefully I can get riding fit and ready to lease a large pony or a horse by this summer( 2022 )
Awesome video a good reminder for everyone that have saddles, I thought about doing a couple of saddles when I was home but this is a second thought now that I have to get my saddles done lol .. and we probably won some ropings with your dad, and if y’all see Rusty DeSpain tell him hello for me RMurphy he’ll know lol .. have an awesome day 👍🏼
Awesome we for sure roped with him 👍🏼.... yup Rusty is an awesome person, haven’t seen them all in awhile since I got a job from livestock, rodeos, ropings 9 yrs ago .. y’all have a good day 👍🏼.
Hey.!!! I'm wondering if you every had or have a horse stable. Since its winter . they are just standing all the time. Having a stable they can lay down on the hay. And block some of that wind. If you dont have one this can be your next project. Because you have a herd.🥰🥰🥰
Alan or Vicki,What if the rider is short statured and has a hard time getting on a horse or pony, what is a better or safer way to mount them?My friend has a 15.2hh horse gelding and I am 4'7" adult and I tried to mount her horse with a stool and I still couldn't get up on him after trying a couple of times
Just wanted to pass along leather and tack care that I aquired from helping a very good saddle and harness maker .....the best thing you can do for leather ....even dry cracked leather is a brush.....a little saddle soap and water.....yep water....as he showed me dry leather will not pull oil down deep into the leather.....when you wet and wash the leather the water soaks the leather.....then as the leather begins to dry you start applying the neatsfoot oil and S the water dries out if the leather the o in l will penetrate deeper because the leather fibers have been rejuvenated and will now act more sponge like absorbing the oil......just FYI

I put a little oil in a spay bottle so I can get underneath the flaps and hard to get places. Works great.
Well try that next time

I've never thought of using paint brushes, what a great idea. Thank you. How are you giving the hat away?
During our live on Saturday evening at 8 PM Arizona time
I used to use black rock to clean my tack
Whats that?
@@TheFarmonRoute66 Blackrock

👍👍
Not telling you what to do but looks like it would be easier to get a rag oiled down well and do it that way, you get both sides with one swipe.
Don't forget to do your baseball gloves.
Great idea thanks!!
🎉👏👍👌💯

Can I see your barn.???🥰🥰🥰

Try a fence or a couple bars of hay so you are Higher
Can also twist the leggings.. there's a cool video about it

When are u going to do more cow riding
We need to do that soon
Could u possibly do it tomorrow just asking
No sorry we have to plan videos out a week or so in advance and then editing and publishing takes time

Around 2509
2500
Can you have Casey ride salt with a saddle
We need to work with salt on reining before she can be ridden with out just being led
those latigo billets break too often. Both sides of a cinch deserve a cinchstrap.
Don’t the Animals get cold
they do great!
They grow thick winter costs that keep them warm
