For what it's worth, I'd argue that this is essentially how Pokemon is intended to be played. Pokemon's initial success was in large part the way it encouraged social interactions between players, particularly trading and battling Pokemon. This helped cultivate a very solid fanbase.

I've done the exact same thing when I was a kid with my brother while playing HGSS Every badges we battle and the one who win choose a pokemon of the losing team to take (excluding the starter) in exchange of his own. Was a good time, happy to see other people do that kind of challenge too :)
This is genius, really. It takes points of challenge and strategy from nuzlocke, adds a social component and spices it all up with a unique metagame dynamic.
When you want to do this with your friends, but they just mindlessly rush through all of their play throughs with one or two Pokemon in a couple of days. T-T My brother beat Sword in 1 day (16 hours of play time) for crying out loud. I took around 33 and like a week. This video is how Pokemon is meant to be played.
Dude, what a amazing video! This is such a great eay to play Pokémon... And as someone said in the comments, this should be the "the" way to play it with fun! Amazing content :)
Given the astronomical amount of diverse Pokemon you can catch prior to the first gym in Sword and Shield, you could have 6v6 battles from the get-go in that game.
Gen 3 was so much fun, even if there was too much water lol I'd love to do more Pokemon content in the future, though, especially if a topic like this comes by! Unfortunately it looks like this content is getting a small fraction of what my TF2 content usually brings in, though.
@@noitsjustcody Thanks for clarification. We thought he playing ruby because he using shiftry who has a 1% encounter in emerald while in ruby it's more common.

This is essentially a codified version of playing pokemon with siblings as you grow up. :-)

Do it! I promise you it's so much fun. I've done it twice now and each time was almost like playing a new game.

I did this last year with my best friend on white2, and it was a blast. Thank you :)

Just found this channel, I loved to play that way with my friends when I was a kid!
I mean, that's cool and all, but you still need a friend to play this way.
Wish we could see you do this again with other generations of Pokémon
Spoiler alert: we have a HGSS randomizer in the works!

I have no good reason lol
Me and a good buddy of mine are actually going to start doing this in Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire

Also, yall have anything on the line? Loser buys drinks?

Wait... How did Nico had a Shitry before the fifth gym... leaf stones are only avaible after that gym
Were the rules used ever written up for others to follow? Thinking of doing this for the newest games.
Wait, how do you play HeartGold/SoulSilver without Nintendo WFC??
Dude mb, I only just saw this comment. Tldr we uploaded our team and their stats to Showdown and battled through there after he moved.
What were the cumulative level caps?
