I use a diy leather thimble. It's just a small rectangle of leather (I used soft leather for my first one) and punched two holes on both short ends. Then I laced thin elastic through the holes and secured with a knot. So easy, so comfortable and still have dexterity.
@eblake3617 I've sewn several leather thimbals at this point, each one more closely fit to my finger, and they have made such a difference in my hand sewing. They feel like my natural hand, but I don't have a permanent wound in my pushing finger ( because I have no self awareness and don't realize something's a problem until I'm really in pain)
My first leather thimble was made with elastic but now I just cut them a little bit shy and do what I call shoelace stitch with upholstery thread to put them together, so if they stretch I can just tighten the thread when it starts falling off. I learned after my first leather thimble attempt that I can't stand not having my fingertip free. all I need is something on my middle finger so I don't push the back of the needle through my skin.... The leather patch off old jeans is what I'm going to start using when I run out of the leather I use, I go through (literally) a leather thimble in about a year.
Oh my, the Ashverse is expanding! I'm so excited for the Royal Ash. Oh my gosh, your birthday must be within a day or two of mine because I'm the last day of Leo!
This was so cool! My husband watched with me and enjoyed it too. Also i think that, like me, you are not an early bird or a night owl but are in fact some form of permanently exhausted pigeon 😂😂
Seratonin from the mug, extra boost from you holding the little hand T_T! Gifts AND a sponsorship! Congrats! You deserve it so much! I forgot to mention last video, but I love that the finger lamp is here to stay. Welcome to the Virgo club, we're very organized. Welcome to the ADHD chaos crafting section, we also drive ourselves crazy impulse crafting with no plan, but also an insane desire to plan, but also half going with the flow. You're in +30c and I'm currently in -30c. The dress is amazing! You could always do an anniversary photo shoot to recreate your wedding pictures.
Yay!! Congrats on the 10K subs, this is very exciting! Also, my best friend loves practical magic, she also has ADHD, and a very similar aesthetic to you haha... gonna start a conspiracy around the movie now
Congrats on 10k! ;D I'm so happy for you [; Congrats on your first sponsor and gift! You deserved it [; I really like your style of reveal (in every video). As always I spend a really good time watching you. Kisses
That CAPE! You need to find an occasion to wear that cape to some event and make an ENTRANCE. Maybe make a parasol out of more of that lace and be the vampire royalty who comes in to make AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF GREAT IMPORT.
@ it’s really nice to see a quality channel getting the love it deserves. And as a fellow aussie who is a similar age and chaos level I feel a particular kinship 😆
CONGRATS ON 10K SUBSCRIBERS! God, I LOOOOVE Silk and Stitch so much! I spent $300 recently buying mystery boxes from them and I do not regret. Everything they have sent me had been gorgeous every time. I love what you have done with that gorgeous lace. Great work, Ash! Oh, I'm a Virgo/Leo cusp, too 20th August, Woooo! I'm very much between both, but I'm leaning a little more Leo.
Last time when you did the capsule wardrobe, I thought how much your sewing skills had improved and now this . . . Standing ovation! Also congrats on the 10,000 you deserve so many more BTW and sponsorship too! Im so flipping happy for you! I'm trying to decide which nosey question to ask for the Q and A . 😂
20:52 I *am* in Bath. Somerset, England, with adhd and I’m hungry. This is for me. The hunger is caused by one of the first statements, I wonder which one?
Just found your channel thanks to recommended videos, so much fun! I follow so may sewing creators but it's nice to see a fellow aussie. I'm so tempted by this mystery box
I feel like you have the opposite kind of adhd than me, I'm definitely more lazy, if I would have 3 more hours left I would go to bed and forget to film an outro 😂 I laughed at the scene where you did all the extra tasks because I'm even too lazy to set up my camera at different angles haha! You put in so much effort and I'm so proud you got a sponsorship! All your hard work really shows I'm honestly impressed
That doesn't sound lazy to me, that sounds like you know how to listen to your body and REST. That is something I struggle with. Then hello random crying because I'm so tired 😂 And thank you so much! It definitely felt like a big deal getting my first sponsor 🥰
@ashbentley Yes it's always hard to find balance, I might do an emergency resting day and then cry because I got behind of my todo's and still feel overwhelmed. Moral of the story is we all cry I guess hahaha 😂😂 adhd can be such a blessing and burden at the same time!
The dress turned out soooo good! Vampire bride for the win. Also, happy 10k! I know this isn’t the 10k video, but you deserve every subscriber, so congratulating you a little early 🤭
Im faffing about on my Christmas sewing RIGHT NOW by watching your video. Your panic is pulling the panic out of my body like a really hectic asmr video 🙃
@ashbentley she doesn't suspect a thing. I took a measurement off her waist to make sure the pattern was close and she said she likes sneaky women, so clearly she's got no idea what's up 😉 good luck on your own Christmas sewing!
48 hour challenge, amazing! It’s gorgeous. I wish I lived in Australia as I would love this mystery box or anything else from silk and stitch, dang shipping fees 😢
My thoughts thought the video: YOU GOT A SPONSOR????? I'M SO PROUD OF YOU AHHHH - Also iconic ad read 🙃 "Instant ADHD panic" is a whole mood. Okay given we live in the same city, buying such a mystery box is overwhelming tempting... But also idk if I'd actually use it... But maybe...? I could be convinced.. lol like I'm not engaged (yet - I have a bf I want to marry tho) but surely I could make my own dress with next to no sewing experience... Right? CONGRATS ON 10K (defs already commented that somewhere, cause as you were explained, I remembered I submitted a question lol) You were taking guesses about what I (I being the generic viewer) am doing. I am lying in bed (it's 12.39 am) procrastinating going to sleep. Which is an issue cause tomorrow is meant to be a 40°C day and my room heags up in the morning and so I won't be able to sleep in... Time budget is a good way of describing it. I think you were looking for time constraint though? You still made perfect sense (maybe because I also have ADHD) THE DRESS IS SO PRETTY. like its wear in an abandoned castke and run down the hallway and up yhe stairs kind of pretty. OOOH THE ADD READ HAVING A POST CREDIT SCENE WAS THE BEST I've not seen that before
Thank you, I appreciate it so much! I'm so glad you liked the ad read and the post-credit scene! I'm going to do my best to make them entertaining even with my very limit acting abilities 😅 Omg the HEAT today 😭😭 40 degrees is so unbearable, I hate it so much. Omg thank you yes, time constraint was what I meant! 😂

Once you find your thimble no other replacement will do. It becomes apart of you. Sorta like the hair tie most women have on their arm and forget that it's there. I hope this helps.
Oh that is very helpful! This one was somehow how too small but also continuously falling off. I think I'd like one of those open thimbles that allows for longer nails :)
@ashbentley that's called a Taylors thimble. It's a different way of holding the needle and protecting your finger. So, just like your pencil grip, or how you hold a crochet hook is different to someone else- the same applies. You may benefit from looking at some hand sewing tips to see which method works best for you and purchase a thimble that fits your grip style.
Congratulations on your first sponsor!!! You deserve it :) seems like just yesterday you ordered a ridiculous number of jingly shiny things for the 1000 sub dress, and now look at you 10k!!! They grow up so fast 😢🎉💚 Also yes I'm panicking while watching and yes it's because I'm ADHD working on my own time-limited project while watching / listening to your chaos, and YES I also just casually stabbed myself with needles for the past couple hours because how can I not when there's like 31822482256247258 pins involved. Now I want ice cream. 😢 Kudos girl, you're doing fantastic 💚💚
@@ashbentley Honestly before you know it you'll be at 100k and then 500k and then!! the 1mil... 😲 IDK if you realise just how relatable all your chaos is, and it just makes your content feel so much more like hanging out with someone while crafting and cursing the wrong-direction demons. 😂 My current project is about 24(?) christmas stockings for friends and family! I think I'm almost half done; all the fabric cut out and the nametags sewn with felt, and I think like 10 of them are final-assembled. I'm so ready to be done and stuff them and mail out the ones going to friends in the USA 😵😵😵😵
I DO have ADHD 😁 so your video was with my while preparing breakfast, tidying and then eating it in the bath because in the winter it's hard for me to eat something in the morning and also and being higenic ENOUGH (transition from water to winter layers of clothing? Ugh...) so two birds with one stone while I was focused on your project 😅 I love the final product! Also that size on lace fabric looks like enough to cover my whole apartment 😂
Soo I wrote a super long comment about of my thoughts throughout the video but I think it got lost because the video ended before I posted it. Rip me. Highlights included congratulating you on your sponsor, something about I relate cause ADHD, the dress SLAYS, and a like post credit ad read scene is absolutely iconic and I have not seen that before.
The dress and cloak are both fabulous! I made my own wedding dress and lace cape and it took me A YEAR (because of ADHD and disability) and here you are making something just as pretty in 48 hours. You don't have a giant hoop skirt that was almost as wide as the chapel aisle though. 😅
Hahaha omg I am SO intimidated by hoop skirts! But also, I'm sewing almost full-time at this stage, and it makes a huge difference. Also, I bet yours was finished much better than mine! 🖤
Congratulations on 10k subscribers 🥰 This turned out soooo pretty. It might be a good thing, that Silk and Stitch is an australian company and it would probably bankrupt me to get a mystery box shipped to me. But still, I'm so jealous of all that beautiful fabric 🤩
omg the black tie top you're wearing in the beginning - did you make it or buy it somewhere? neeeed omg. been looking for diff sewing channels as i get into it, glad i found yours, love the chaos - you're so talented!
I made it in my last video! I think it was the second top I made in my speedruning personal style video. And for more details on the patterning of it, it's the top part of a dress I made about a year ago in this video ua-cam.com/video/DL9Eg6BkN7c/v-deo.html I'm so glad you found my channel too, welcome! 🤗
I just wanna share my own story time, I got a new job as a dog groomer at a vet clinic and today my client was the tiniest little yorkie mix fella of a wopping 2 kg named Alfie and he was sooo sweet and I kept calling him Alfmalf❤
The cookies I made in the video are super easy and tasty. It's insane that they don't have any flour in them: www.taste.com.au/recipes/peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies-2/f75a1a19-5849-446e-b39a-7115e72f67fc
Your reveal GAVE ME CHILLS! So fricken good! Also that dress is prettier than my wedding dress. And also it's hot as balls here in NZ too 🥵 yet my 3yo thinks it's going to snow on Christmas day 😂😂😂 (southern hemisphere things)
Dude. I wish we were friends lol. I don't sew anywhere near your skill level (minor projects in the past) but I found your channel from the vid where you make your own wardrobe and all those outfits were, to quote you, "mwah 👌" (this tablet doesn't have the right emoji but ~chef's kiss hand lol~." So I ended up binging like...9 vids at least in a few hours and some i ended up rewatching because I was doing othert things. It's just comforting having you on the tv like we're facetiming without the pressure of me having to reply or be "on," do you know what I mean? I don't have any friends but I feel like you would be a cool one to have. I'm a 30 y/o American scorpio and I despise leo's (ex best friend), so glad you're a virgo hahaha! This is a long comment but i am SO glad i found you while you were still a small channel (seriously could not believe you were under 10k when i got here), because i know in a few years time, you're going to blow up. Hopefully even sooner than that. I like every vid you put out, hoping it gets you some more views. Congrats on your first gift and the sponsors!! Nik
Ok I'm back having just finished the video, I wasnt going to comment again (I rarely comment and this is I think the 1st time I have ever commented TWICE on a YT vid), HOWEVER...Oh. my. God. You just keep getting better, Ash. This is GORGEOUS especially with the cape!!! No plans on getting married for me but I sooooo want to wear this and just run through the forest 😲💚 Your filming & editing are improving too. Loved the Xmas party scene at the end. And yes. I AM going to tappy tap and say...we need a 24 hr challenge!!!! Please ❤️ Xmas IS just around the corner...couldnt think of a better gift for your subscribers. Maybe that's your "10k milestone" ? A 24 hr "sewing/making" challenge where you try to make 10 things to giveaway...10 of the same thing. I think that could be doable if its something simple like a t shirt or a skirt? Use up some of your fabric pile, celebrate your subscribers, challenge yourself and giveaways always do well to grow channels (7+ yrs digital marketing experience). Additionally maybe a collaboration with another sewing channel where you both sew part of it, or a subscribers pick what I make vid? Interact on IG (pink or blue, shirt or skirt, long or short) polls etc. on your story and let them "design" what you end up giving away? Okay, the introvert is going back to her non-commenting lair of darkness. Looking forward to the next vid. xo Nik
Nik, I have the same fillings about Ash and her videos as you ;o I'm an introvert from Poland and have no friends in real life (I recover after narc) and when I spned time with Ash I feel like with really good friend [;
Aw, that's so kind of you, I'm so glad you're finding it all comforting! 🖤 I really want this to be a safe cozy place on the internet. Thanks for watching so many videos! I am also a binger lol. And I really appreciate the support, it's a little nerve-wracking putting out my first sponsored post 🥰Welcome, I'm so glad you're here!
It so awesome that we're building a lovely little online community of (I believe) mostly introverts. Honestly I don't socialise much in real life, but I'd love for you to add 'at the moment' to the end of that sentence, because there are definitely friends out there that you just haven't met yet 🖤
This was lots of fun to watch, and it turned out so well! I would also make the mistake with the lace, honestly 😅 I don't think it's noticeable though😁 (I live in a different hemisphere, and kept getting confused about the season/temperature difference, lol. It's snowy where I live rn, I think that's what's throwing me off)
Damn woman, how did you do that. I watched every second of the video and it still is magic to me. Would be insanely cool to photoshoot you in that dress. Could you build a transportation device in the next video maybe? 😅
They are the easiest and best cookies ever. It's literally 5 ingredients, here's the recipe from taste.com.au www.taste.com.au/recipes/peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies-2/f75a1a19-5849-446e-b39a-7115e72f67fc
The mystery box is already sold out but maybe that's good because I don't live in Australia and idk about how shipping would end up 😂 It looks sick though!
😮 It wasn't sold out when I was editing! Wow! probably a good thing for me too, because I was considering getting another one even though I definitely shouldn't!
Dang, I wish something like Silk and Stitch was available in Canada... I'd get one twice a year, for birthday and Xmas which are 6 months apart, give or take a week and a half. I dunno if I'm ADHD but I feel like I need to be doing something while watching videos so right now I'm working on the hand stitching (hem and felling) on what I drafted from a Victorian jacket pattern from the Keystone guide and will be using it as my soapmaking lab coat becuase apparently ridiculously poofy sleeve shoulders bring me an absurd amount of joy. Is alarm clock anxiety a thing? Kinda feel like it is, cause I either can't sleep when I've set an alarm or I start waking up three hours before it goes off wondering if I've missed it. This from a person who will hear water dripping in the master bathroom from sound asleep and will wake up if the garbage truck drives by, just in case I've missed something... Wow, that turned out just stunning, great job!!!
We are very lucky to have them. Also what a super cool project you're working on! I love the idea of using a Victorian jacket for a lab coat! We all need more things that bring us ridiculous amounts of joy. If you have instagram please tag me in a photo of it when it's done, I'd love to see! 🤗
I'm not celiac! It's complicated but it's not the actual gluten that's the problem, it's the galactooligosaccharides (a carbohydrate) that are present alongside gluten (and beans and soy and most nuts) and I can have tiny bits. So I can eat a maximum of 11g of pistachios in one sitting. but then no other oligosaccharides. It's just easier to say gluten free and avoid most of those foods 🤷♀️

Haha yay! I had soo much fun with this new character 😅 Yes we must be just one day apart!
I love how you did the shaping of the hips. That must be so much fun to play with the silhouette in this way. Great job!!
So much fun! It was so freeing to have so much fabric to play with 😊

I love it! It's so beautiful! It's crazy what you were able to get done in 48 hours!
Thank you! I honestly surprised myself 😅
Ah I love Silk+Stitch! I actually bought and am using the silver sequin version of that lace right now on my wedding dress, so fun!
Congrats on 10000 and a skill share sponsorship! The dress turned up beautifully
This dress and cloak are STUNNING!

Congratulations on your first sponsor!!! You deserve it :) seems like just yesterday you ordered a ridiculous number of jingly shiny things for the 1000 sub dress, and now look at you 10k!!!
They grow up so fast 😢🎉💚
Also yes I'm panicking while watching and yes it's because I'm ADHD working on my own time-limited project while watching / listening to your chaos, and YES I also just casually stabbed myself with needles for the past couple hours because how can I not when there's like 31822482256247258 pins involved.
Now I want ice cream. 😢
Kudos girl, you're doing fantastic 💚💚
Aw thanks! So many milestones in one video 😊 I'm so glad you're enjoying the chaos! 😂 what are you sewing at the moment?
@@ashbentley Honestly before you know it you'll be at 100k and then 500k and then!! the 1mil... 😲 IDK if you realise just how relatable all your chaos is, and it just makes your content feel so much more like hanging out with someone while crafting and cursing the wrong-direction demons. 😂
My current project is about 24(?) christmas stockings for friends and family!
Ugh...) so two birds with one stone while I was focused on your project 😅
I love the final product!
The comment worked! But I super appreciate you coming back and trying again, you're the best 🖤 Best of luck with staying out of the heat today x
@ashbentley I'm glad it worked - I couldn't find it! I did pretty well staying out of the heat but I think sleeping is going to be tough.... Oh well
The dress and cloak are both fabulous!
It's definitely dangerous having them so accessible! And thank you so much 😊
omg the black tie top you're wearing in the beginning - did you make it or buy it somewhere? neeeed omg. been looking for diff sewing channels as i get into it, glad i found yours, love the chaos - you're so talented!
I made it in my last video! I think it was the second top I made in my speedruning personal style video. And for more details on the patterning of it, it's the top part of a dress I made about a year ago in this video ua-cam.com/video/DL9Eg6BkN7c/v-deo.html
I'm so glad you found my channel too, welcome! 🤗
@ thank you so much for that info!! Glad to be here 😊
I just wanna share my own story time, I got a new job as a dog groomer at a vet clinic and today my client was the tiniest little yorkie mix fella of a wopping 2 kg named Alfie and he was sooo sweet and I kept calling him Alfmalf❤
Any recomendations on glutenfree cookie recipies?
Stovetop oatmeal cookies? I know, not the same texture, but very easy to find a receipe
.
Woah! That's amazing!
Thanks, I'm really happy with the results! 😊🤗
No plans on getting married for me but I sooooo want to wear this and just run through the forest 😲💚
Your filming & editing are improving too.
Looking forward to the next vid.
xo
Nik
Nik, I have the same fillings about Ash and her videos as you ;o I'm an introvert from Poland and have no friends in real life (I recover after narc) and when I spned time with Ash I feel like with really good friend [;
Also thank you for all the digital marketing advice! I'll probably use much of that on future vids!
It so awesome that we're building a lovely little online community of (I believe) mostly introverts. Honestly I don't socialise much in real life, but I'd love for you to add 'at the moment' to the end of that sentence, because there are definitely friends out there that you just haven't met yet 🖤
Gorgeous!
This was lots of fun to watch, and it turned out so well! I would also make the mistake with the lace, honestly 😅
I don't think it's noticeable though😁
(I live in a different hemisphere, and kept getting confused about the season/temperature difference, lol. It's snowy where I live rn, I think that's what's throwing me off)
Damn woman, how did you do that. I watched every second of the video and it still is magic to me. Would be insanely cool to photoshoot you in that dress. Could you build a transportation device in the next video maybe? 😅
Ok I gasped at the reveal, could not have known it was lopsided unless you told me so
It looks fantastic! Also, those peanut butter chocolate chip cookies look amazing can we have the recipe please 😅
They are the easiest and best cookies ever. It's literally 5 ingredients, here's the recipe from taste.com.au www.taste.com.au/recipes/peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies-2/f75a1a19-5849-446e-b39a-7115e72f67fc
Me crying as soon as I saw the pasta in frame with the corset because I knew what was comng next.
And yet I didn't see it coming 😅
@@ashbentley I guarantee you, we only knew it was coming because we've made that mistake. It's a very hard lesson to learn 😫
It was a design choice not inside out, but it's very pretty dress and the clock is beautiful. ❤
Ps have a merry Christmas and a happy new year ❤
Amaaazing! and now I want cookies
Yes have cookies! ❤
Very tempted to order 2 mystery boxes since I have a wedding dress to make. (Eventually when I'm not knocked up😂😂)
Love it!
Thank you!
Lol, the mystery boxes are now sold out.
Good job, Ash!
Woo well doneeeeeee
This looks bloody amazing omg
Very cool!!!
Thank you! 🖤
you be crazy for this but it turned out amazing but my brain is just like dye it black or red and it really would give vampire bride
OOh red would be stunning. But I might already have a red gown coming up soon 😉
@ oooo can’t wait to see it.
You look fantastic!
Oh thank you!
WELCOME TO THE VIRGO CLUB WHERE WE OVERTHINK EVERYTHING AND HAVE BAD ANXIETY!!! 🤗🤭🤩😍🥰😘🥳😇😊❤️🔥
Hahahaha thank you! I'm very pleased and anxious to be here 😂😂
Awe, too bad im in America.😢
i'm currently crocheting a star bag :3 almost done even :3 and yes i also have adhd xD
Hang on - 5 minutes down the road from me and I didn't know it? MYSTERY FABRIC FOR THE WINNNNNN!
OMG I'm also NOT a morning person, but I'm MORE PRODUCTIVE in the morning. 😏
It's such a confusing space to be in 😂
@ RIGHT???
Gorgeous!! 👰♀️🍝🧛♀️😄👋
Thank you! 🤗
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤ love Anita uk
grats on the sponsor.
Thank you! 😄
Beautiful dress, and if you didn't point out that it's lopsided on the sides probably no one would ever notice 🤭🤭
You know I actually forgot it was lopsided until I started editing! So you're totally right 😊
Dang, I wish something like Silk and Stitch was available in Canada...
Time crunch?
OMG yes that's it 😂😂😂
How can you have pods if you can't eat gluten? I'm soooooo jealous
666th like haha perfect for vampire gown
Hi!
Hello!
20:52 I *am* in Bath. Somerset, England, with adhd and I’m hungry. This is for me. The hunger is caused by one of the first statements, I wonder which one?
