  • The cluster doesn’t light up sometimes. When it lights up, it stays up until the ignition key is turned off. Then it’s iffy if it will light up the next time the key is on. Also…the backlights on climate control and stereo buttons also do not light up when the cluster doesn’t light up. When the cluster lights up, the backlights on climate control buttons and stereo buttons light up. Whatever is failing affects the cluster and the backlights.

Are there any updates on your Cluster? I had to send my 91 Reatta's Cluster to be rebuilt. So far, everything is fine.

It's obviously excessive heat build up from defective muffler bearings..

The issue is not heat related. The problem can happen when the car is cold and not yet driven. Muffler bearings? What’s that?

You've never heard of muffler bearings ?They're on the same row as blinker fluid !!

@@Volterrific That's a rough one,, you need good wiring diagrams to trace down where the lighting gets it's voltage then start trouble shooting ..
I looked online a bit and that cluster is notorious,, lots of really old posts talking about it with tons of dead links.
It's has the look of a challenging repair.
      Good luck !!

@@2packs4sure Cluster Fix repairs the clusters to like new. But I’m guessing the problem isn’t the cluster itself. More about the power feed to the cluster and the climate control and stereo button backlights. When the cluster doesn’t light up, neither do the button backlights. I will pull the cluster, clean the male and female contacts, and maybe do the same with BCM behind the glovebox. The dimmer slider might be the trouble as well.
