    My daily driver for the past few years, and almost all throughout my university years.
    The SUV version of the venerable Toyota Hilux, the Toyota Fortuner is probably the most common car in the roads of Manila since its first generation in 2005 until today. It is a familiar sight that we have all come to know, but have mixed feelings on. We may say that it's far too common to be desirable, but we have to remember that this is what pretty much started the SUV craze in the country. Before the Fortuner, only super wealthy individuals got a chance to purchase full SUVs in the form of the Pajero, and Land Cruiser, with the occasional Land Rovers, but the Fortuner made the SUV accessible to the masses
    This 2nd generation Toyota Fortuner is a direct competitor to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Ford Everest, Nissan Terra, Chevrolet Trailbrazer, and the Isuzu MUX. It was released in 2016 as was definitely a beauty when it first came out, being leaps forward when compared to its predecessor in terms of styling. In the Philippines, it is powered by either a 2.7L Gasoline engine, or 2.4L and 2.8L Diesel. Other engines in other markets such the Middle East include the 4.0L Gasoline engine that also powers the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado LC150, and the Toyota FJ Cruiser. The car is also available in New Zealand, and Australia.
    2nd generation Toyota Fortuner 2.4 V 4x2 (AN150/AN160)
    Model Year: 2016 - Present
    Range topping 4x2 V variant with:
    2.4L Diesel engine
    4x2 Drive Mode
    Power tailgate
    Chrome door handles
    Leather interior
    18" rims
    Bi-Beam LED lights
    Automatic Climate Control (1 zone)
    37,274Km mileage original
    Toyota 2GD-GTV 2.4L I4 Diesel Engine
    150PS, 400Nm torque
    Automatic Transmission
    265/60/18 rims

    Kyle. We had the 2016 and now we have the ltd. Seems they retuned the suspension to eliminate the bounce. Its still firm but definitely not bouncy as before. The new 2.8 engine is a charm. Comparing it with our terra, its heaps firmer and harsher but you can feel that its a more solid machine.
    Your review of the 2016 is spot on re suspension, engine and jerky transmission. The 2.4 engine also loses steam midway. Great review. No sugarcoating.

    That grab handle on the second row. I have been looking for one like that. As an owner of a 2009 and 2016 Fortuner, I can tell you the first generation Fortuner is even bumpier. But a 2009 Montero Sport actually rides better than this one. The most annoying thing about both Fortuners is the noise the 3rd row seats makes when you stow them to the sides.

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  3 роки тому +3

      I forgot where we got ours. Some guy from Banawe who did home service installed it for us haha! I agree with you on the 2009 Montero. Driven one and actually reviewed one already a while back but I had audio issues with the video so I ended up deleting the video. For the 3rd row seats, I used to have that problem until I tightened the velcro straps on the locking mechanism for it.

    • @514broly
      @514broly 3 роки тому +1

      @@KyleLiongCars Unfortunately, those Velcro do wear out, and after a few bumps on the road, they easily loosen up. I just put my 3rd row seat down now, even though no one seats there 😅

    I love the fact na dumaan ka sa roads kung saan ako nagdadriving lessons 3 months ago around 8:56 to 12:10, the driving school let me drive a Manual 2017 Fortuner G and all the things na sinabi mo sa driving portion was right. It was bumpy, and the interior is a bit lacking compared to like, a Montero GLX Manual of that time. But the thing i loved about it is, malakas ang hatak nya pero i feel like it should have had the 2.8 engine na kagaya ng Innova.

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  3 роки тому +2

      Halos same lang sila nung Innova actually kadi kahit 2.8 yung Innova, detuned rin engine nun compared sa Fortuner na 2.8. Hatak pa rin nito overall, adequate, pero parang halos normal feeling lang for a diesel because torquey tlga sila.
      Yes I hate the roads there haha! Dating daily route ko yan to the office papuntang Skyway and di lang malubag, sobrang traffic pa :(

      @@KyleLiongCars Im considering the 2020 toyota Fortuner v 4x2 because it has a lot more features than the innova such as cruise control, led lights and drl, nicer wheels, higher ground clearance, nicer gauge cluster, and the design of it but I kinda of consider also the ride comfort because you know the Fortuner isn't that good on comfort and the 2.4 engine which the innova has 2.8 and I actually heard that 2020 toyota Fortuner owners complain about the transmission lag and also the 2.4 engine which they said we're kind of slow and underpowered considering the weight of the car.

    Is there a way to differentiate a 2.4 V and a 2.8 V? I cannot seem to find any exterior differences, also the engine bay. I'm skeptical that if I choose to buy a 2.8 they might just hand over a 2.4 with all the papers stating its a 2.8. Same may happen with secondhand sellers
