I’m surprised that VTS knows the WGTT tune and plays their jingle in the same promo. (I still can tell these are the same singers who sang WAVY’s jingle “You’re Covered With TV10” a year earlier)
24:19 I'm interested to learn more about Farm Fresh Direct. I've never heard of this concept. I had heard there was a regular Farm Fresh store in Rocky Mount, but didn't know they had anything closer to Raleigh.
The Avondale Drive location is now a "Compare Foods" grocery store. I go there often. Wondered about that store's past. Glad i found some of it's past.
A Farm Fresh also opened in Raleigh at Wilmington and Chapanoke (now International Foods) and in Cary at Buck Jones and Walnut (now used car dealership)
Not related to your question, but my grandmother grew up in Rocky Mount, there were 9 children, and one of those when grown and married inherited the house. I wonder if it's still there.
Back then WRAL aired Y&R at 12:30 like most CBS affiliates; it wasn't until 1993 when WRAL moved Y&R to 4pm (to compete with Oprah on WTVD); the current CBS affiliate (WNCN) still airs Y&R at 4pm even though Oprah is long gone...
WAFB in Baton Rouge ran Y&R at 4 PM for years as a lead-in to their 5 PM news, beginning in the '90s and up until last year, I think. Y&R was a very strong lead-in, which definitely helped WAFB's news ratings (they're still #1 in the market).
@@MrIveyIsBonkers a couple months ago WNCN moved Y&R back to the traditional 12:30 slot in order to introduce their own 4:00 newscast to compete with WRAL and WTVD who have both had 4:00 newscasts for years
Ironically, the only one of the shows in reruns there at the time that actually would have aired on WRAL at the time of its original network broadcast was *What's Happening!!*
This was on the same day "Top Gun" was released in theaters.

Nice! I love it whenever people upload content from NC stations. Older content of the NC stations are kinda harder to find.
I got some but it's at my Mom's house.
@@Attmay Cool. At least you uploaded some in the past.
@@friesareyummy I uploaded those before I moved out of state.
Was WRAL the station that showed "Andy Griffith" in North Carolina for so many years?
Another great upload. I’m familiar with WRAL from this era. Would love to see the soap episodes someday on Archive.org
I had no worries in my life when this was live
"Magnum" on Saturdays?

Oh and WGTT= “We’ve Got The Touch”
08:50 Cherry Coca-Cola 🍒 commercial I love this late 80's Cherry Coca-Cola commercial from 1986 and I love drinking Cherry Coca-Cola 🍒.

My mother grew up in Gloucester County, VA and they used to have Farm Fresh there. Not anymore, it seems.

From what I can tell it's now airing Y&R at 12:30.

Being Born A Tar Heel, its always puts a smile on my face.

Who is the announcer at 8:36? He used to to the VO for WRAL for years and years.
