Hi Joshua, i tried 32.8 on a diatone roma f5 analog 6s. On pwm 48khz had issues like on a roll, going back to “0” the quad dip on a side, like i gave a pitch input. Same on clean pitch 180 or 360. With variable 24 to 48 it goes completely crazy and start spinning unpredictably for half a second. On blackbox, when the stick goes back to center, shows 1 motor spinning 100%. Had to go back to 32.7 24khz and is fine now. Anything wrong with my setup? I’m flying on bf 4.3 supafly preset. 8k/4k dshot300
When you say go to the lowest pwm value, does that mean as low as you can to 24khz, or even lower if possible? Is there a risk if you go to low, the pwm might not climb up sufficiently fast enough to stay above the resonance band?
I think that even at 24k the PWM will stay out of the resonance band. I'm not sure what ESC today go any lower than 24k. But this is just generalized advice and is not going to be right for every situation.
I need help! my music editor for bl heli 32 isn't working for note c. It keeps changing it to D saying that it has a bug! Any help is appreciated because therent arent many songs that dont use c

Hi JB, I have a IFlight SucceX-D Mini F7 TwinG Stack (Mini F7+40A ESC). The ESC specs state that it supports up to 48KHz PWM frequency. Does this mean that I can’t use the variable frequency 48 to 96? Thanks.
@@JoshuaBardwell Hi JB, You were right it only supports up to 48KHz. Therefore I set the min to 24khz and the Max to 48KHz. My problem though is that if I try to use Bidirectional DSHOT, all my motors are reporting 100% rpm errors in the motor tab. I tried it with both 4 and 8 kHz loop frequencies and lowered the ESC Motor protocol from 600DSHOT to 300DSHOT and no luck. Not sure why this is happening. I’m a big of a loss. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks, Sam

No I don't think so. I'm using both on a few of my builds. I do think there is an issue that if your music is too long, then the ESC can fail to initialize.
Yea unfortunately mine did too. And they made a chattering stuttering. It was literally my only change 24 to 48 variable and flew awful. Changed it back and it’s all good. Maybe it only works with certain esc? Or motors?

Hi Joshua, Could you please make a video about betaflight i2c errors? What is it and what causes i2c errors? In betaflight 4.2 i realised that i got i2c errors and I2C error count keeps increasing with every loop..Thanks
It's normal to see a few i2c errors when you first plug in. But the i2c error count should not keep increasing. If you are using an external i2c device like a compass, then that could be the problem. But if you are not using any external i2c device and you are seeing increasing i2c errors, then most likely the FC is damaged.

Drive signal: Dshot300-1200 / Proshot1000 / Oneshot / Multishot / PWM
MCU: STM32F051 Operation frequency: 48MHz
Peak current [5 seconds]: 55A
Mount: 30.5mm x 30.5mm
Continuous current: 45A
Firmware: BLHeli_32
ESC weight: 12g
Supports 3-6S
BEC: No
Pretty sure Pete wrote AM32 to cater for specific hardware that BLheli would not and does not do.
There is also an Australian company that makes ESCs with an F3 processor controlling it, has many of these features already, APD is their name, check them out.
Australian? I think you mean Chinese. Sadly, nothing is made here anymore.
@@STEDDiEFPV Thanks for the insight captain obvious.....
He didn't roll the intro?
*And we took that personally*
Throttle response feels way better, but my 3" Gecko now has a Trill sound and the motors are getting HOT! I don't know enough about filtering to fix it.
You need more dampening = more D
Yup, it's good😁🚀
I'm so excited about this. Am I a geek or what? 😂
Hello. I want to ask about it. My 6s 48k 96k motor is 1960kv. The motor timing is set to auto. This setting my motor is hot. How to make the motor not so hot. The flight control fl1. It is very hot before the pid is set. motor timing. Is it better to set it to 22?
My man, JB. Get you a lint roller! Just lookin' out for you brotha! ;)
So shouldn't you take the props off before you do this?? Useful! Gonna see if this works on 3d quads that desync during transitions. Thanks! Wondering if it will be possible to upgrade HGLRC TITAN 60A ESC
I had a smoke stopper.
But this is just generalized advice and is not going to be right for every situation.

so can we/should we be deleting older bl heli suites from our computers ? and only use the newest suite ?

I had thrust linear set to 25 to compensate for 48khz pwm. What should I set it to after flashing?
I need help! my music editor for bl heli 32 isn't working for note c. It keeps changing it to D saying that it has a bug! Any help is appreciated because therent arent many songs that dont use c

Is there a way of rolling back the esc software please
hey mate mine goes from 16 -48 kHz should i set my low to 16 you think??
i did this and it sounds horrible..like its dying.. had to turn it off
Same here. I literally only changed the PWM 24 to 48 and it was chattering and stuttering. Took it off and it was fine. Maybe only certain esc and motors will work ok with it
@@brendand.2269 i set mine as 24khz min and 48 max and it was horrible
Jb how do I know what my esc is running?????
In my tekko32 40A Desinc with this function active, on punch and on agrressive Roll 😭returned to 48khz stable and no more Desinc but i continue the test...
Its like digital transmission. Thats legit.
Hi JB,
I have a IFlight SucceX-D Mini F7 TwinG Stack (Mini F7+40A ESC). The ESC specs state that it supports up to 48KHz PWM frequency.
Does this mean that I can’t use the variable frequency 48 to 96?
Thanks.
You should look in blhelisuite at what it supports. That's the only way to be sure. It may only go 24-48 for example.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you very much JB!
@@JoshuaBardwell Hi JB,
You were right it only supports up to 48KHz.
Thanks,
Sam
Do the supported ESC's have telemetry, and the not supported do not have ESC telemetry?
Well I guess I'm one of the few that has had a bad experience with variable PWM. I got crazy oscillations and mid throttle oscillations. Regardless of pid or filter settings. 😑
My setup is the Aikon 20x20 35a stack and Xing 2306 v2s.
Same here. Tried to tune it out but without success. Tomorow i will downgrade to 32.7 and see if it goes away. I am using Tekko32 with Xing-e 2207 2350kv
@@TfourJFPV I found that just turning off Variable PWM solved the issues for me
vtec for cinewhoops?
Does it still hold true you can’t have custom startup music on your ESCs if you’re using bidirectional D-Shot?
No I don't think so. I'm using both on a few of my builds. I do think there is an issue that if your music is too long, then the ESC can fail to initialize.
so smooth and control at low throttle feel as good or better than kiss
My hobbywing 60a 4in1 esc doesnt have 32.8 available yet either
It's a couple of months away so I've heard 😏

Thanks for the video ....! Are you going to make a video with the results and the difference you notice with flying? @Joshua Bardwell
I just put 32.8 on my hobby wing esc but the pwm freq only goes up to 48khz.
That’s to be expected?
Each ESC has different parameters specified by the manufacturer.
Its vtech for drones 😆 Honda owners get it
Wish I would to of watched this sooner
Is this a windows/google tutorial?
Do I have to turn off RPM filtering?
For us newbess How do we know what he ESC we have?
bl heli 32 32.8 make my motor over heat.
Yea unfortunately mine did too. And they made a chattering stuttering. It was literally my only change 24 to 48 variable and flew awful. Changed it back and it’s all good. Maybe it only works with certain esc? Or motors?
@@brendand.2269 yea i flash back to 32.7 and all good.

Same, stuttering when throttle and hot motors... back to 32.7, I have an HGLRC FD60A.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks for your quick reply. I dont use any external device. It was a brand new t-motor f7 fc but i might damage it while soldering or flashing the firmware. Thanks once again
I've done lots of testing and Autotiming increased my Amps consumption during hoover. So it's less efficient! I know it should be more efficient than fixed value, but it isn't.
If you use your quad to vacuum, there's no wonder! =P But seriously, is that how you experienced it?
My understanding is then it should be more efficient for you at high rpm than your previous value.
