Hi Will. I just heard the playback of 'Dilemma' live from the Howard Stern Show. I had a copy of it but I was behind a little on the shows. The band sounded great. The whole interview was fantastic. They love going on Howard. They have been doing his show for years. I listened to side B. I really enjoyed it. This is a strong album. You were right regarding the political overtones on some of the record. Would you put this album in your top five favorite GD releases? Rob/Boston
Hi Rob. I'm glad you also liked the album. That is a good question. For me, it's probably in the top 6. It's hard to rank them because I like all of them so much. I have a Sirius XM subscription but it was not giving me access to the Stern interview. I think it's because I only have the Music subscription. Thanks for stopping by!
I enjoyed the review Will. I think it's a great album. One thing I really like about Green Day that I don't remember hearing anyone mention is the harmony vocals; I think I first noticed them on "Bab's Uvula Who?" (which I thought was called All Wound Up.)
That's a good observation. Yeah the harmonies are always a highlight in the Green Day records. Mike Dirnt does a great job in bass and vocal harmonies.
Loved the new Green Day record!! Has some great fast and melodic songs and some even better slow songs ! My favorite tracks are , 1981, look ma no brains, strange days, dilemma and corvette summer!!
Hi, love listening your review! you are very exhaustive on every topic like always. Personally i like this album and I agree with you, this is one of their best album since american idiot (even if i like Rev Red too). 1981 is also the birth of MTV... maybe the song is about that somehow. About the order of the tracks i found a interview (Rollig Stone France) where they discuss about the album and say that the track order is quite important. (i suggest you to search it, it's interesting)! :)
Thank you! It's a good point about 1981 and MTV. I have not read that interview. I will find it. I've been reading a lot of interviews from the band about the album but I haven't heard them talk about 1981 yet. Thanks for the tip.
I'm thinking about getting the Japan CD version which has an extra song 'Fever' which is really good. Shame it wasn't released anywhere else, Fever would have been one of my most favorite songs of the album.
I ordered the Japanese version of the album a few weeks ago on eBay. It's taking forever to arrive. I haven't listened to Fever yet. I'm waiting for it to arrive so I can listen to it. Can't wait!
Thanks Steve. I think you'll like the record. There's definitely more political songs than anything else. Hope you can still pick this one up on vinyl even with your move. I think it's a great listen.
A very great album, I bought the CD this week. But my favorite is still Insomniac. Great video 👍
Thank you! Insomniac is my favorite too :)
