Movie released in 1973 about 1962…..I was born in 74 (my mom graduated HS in 1957, dad in 1962) but I played this soundtrack over and over and over as a child. Great memories…RIP mom and dad 😢
This Movie supposedly took place in 1962, so technically Falfa's 55 Chevy couldn't have a Big Block (396-454) in it. the 396 didn't come out till 1965. So in reality it had to have a 283/327 or 348/409 in it. Those were the Chevy Engines available in 1962.
Big Mistake at 1:22. Look real close and real fast! That’s a 1967 Chevrolet parked! The film was supposed to take place in 1962! You wouldn’t see that car for another 5 years!
In fact now that I look even closer, it’s a 1967 Chevrolet Caprice! Just by the rear side quarter window, and the bright work molding on the bottom along the whole body!
I really noticed stuff like that the first time I saw this movie, when it was new. There also were some signs and storefronts which were very obviously not from 1962 as well. I was always nitpicky about things like this, and still am, and they annoy me when I see them. Sometimes I wish I didn't pay such close attention and wasn't so critical because it gets in the way of just watching the movie.
And also - at 1:44, the '56 Chevy on the left has its actual yellow-on-blue California plate instead of the correct (replica) black-on-yellow plates in use in 1962. I caught that when I saw this in 1973 and have always remembered it, although I didn't remember exactly when this scene happened.

Why not just show it full screen instead of that awful double fuzzy vision???????

I don't know why, but that bothered me a little, because you really want to believe that's a summer night in 1962!!... I hated seeing that
