As people around the world watch this, take note. This too is California. This is the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Not the biggest in North America, but many of us feel it is the geandest. Thank you for visiting my home.
Great music, beautiful scenery... Thanks for taking us along where many of us will never see... now we have seen... may it inspire some of us to go out and see it in person.
Great taste in music spectacular video beautiful scenery wow that water was really flowing way cool to see thanks again for another great video have a good weekend tell the next time
Now you're in my neck of the woods, Juan. I go target shooting in the woods just around the bend from that first pullout at Yuba pass. If you saw the yellow diamond sign, "beware of Dead Man's Curves" sign near Bassetts or over near Satley, those were put up by my dad and his friends years back, after too many bikers were dying there every year. The Buckhorn is back in business again, after being closed a couple years when the owner passed away. Sierra City has been changing these last years, as too many older residents have passed on. We lost a historical building to fire on 49 a couple years back as well. But the river abides, and the seasons continue. Loved the video.
I did enjoy this video, Juan, but not nearly as much as you did in moving around the countryside building this report. Peace, Love and Happiness to you and your family.
Juan, I left California last year, but rely on your videos so as not to forget California's beauty. Thank you for reminding me. I wish to come back. Your videos make it tempting. Thank you!
Thank you, how refreshing! Makes me homesick for the the trees, redwood forests, rivers, reservoirs and lakes. I used to ride those gorgeous two lane roads on a motorcycle. So much more enjoyable. Miss that too. Thanks for all your hard work. what I'm homesick for the most is to be Home with my Lord Jesus...OH WHAT BEAUTY HE'S RESERVED FOR US...we can't even conceive of it how beautiful it will be. He's coming soon.
omg, this video made me long for a river! living in so cal is so disconnected from it all. funny how your vids always lend themselves to more self knowing. i will be someday in a more nature rich locale. thanks for the light bukb moments. you are wonderful!thank youfor the journey.xoxok
Yer Killin' me....... Nice ride this morning....... Great Music along with the gorgeous views.. Weav PS.. I thought that Mandolin guy looked like John Paul Jones!
Such beautiful country. As one man once said, this is truly a part of California’s gold. Loved the Led Zep too! Thanks Juan, it’s always a pleasure to see your reports.
Oh my gosh. You’re right. That IS JPJ. So cool to see him playing. I’m so sad that my favorite band never had a meaningful reunion ala The Eagles, etc.
You Know we loved it, that was sweet you have a good eye for putting a story together and enhancing what is there, plus appropriate accompaniment with a pretty little rendition of a Zep classic, that takes a lot of us back, thank you!
Great video, Juan. I'm so happy for all the rain this year in San Diego (about 20 inches, twice normal); all my oak trees have lots of new growth, in contrast with them very stressed last year.
I lived in Graeagle two years ago full time. That was one my favorite rides.. Hwy 49. I absolutely love your videos, always looking forward to your next one.
I too have always been intrigued and have sought out that beginning trickle of various river basins. Supplemented with a great band and an all star lineup. Another great contribution by the Blancolirio Channel. Thanks Juan!
Beautiful scenery Juan. Kinda eerie your motorcycle ride was on the same day that journalist Davey Johnson was last heard from during his ride to the south, after he stopped along the Mokulumne River. It has been reported he was in the river. Your comment at 6:04 was absolutely spot on. "Stay out of the water here in the mountains".
Hello Juan, my name is Ed and I'm coming at you from across this great country where I live in New York on Long Island, Suffolk County, Port Jefferson Station 11776. I really enjoyed your videos especially the ones that show the mountains and rivers and of course your aerial videos over Oroville Dam and flying that Great plane of yours. Anyway, just wanted to thank you and let you know that I appreciate your videos and keep up the great work. Warm regards, Ed
Beautiful filming. Thanks, Juan. Showing us where this water comes from is excellent;I, like many others, really don't realize where our water really comes from. Perhaps, it is sad to realize that most of this water eventually winds up in the Sacramento Delta, where it is divied-up, with some going through the pumping system to be sent to Southern California via canal. The water is pumped out of the Delta, goes by canal to the San Luis Dam , then sent onwards to Southern California, again via canal. When the canal reaches the Grapevine, large pipes are used to pump the water up and over the GGrapevine. Once on top, the gravity again takes hold and the water continues its journey to water SoCal's green lawns. It's a sad fact, but true, some of the beautiful water seen in the Yuba watershed will eventually make it to SoCal, to be used for ? Thanks again, Juan. Your videos are always appreciated for their objectivity, as well as their artistry.
Looks like some COLD water there. A little further south in Bakerfield, CA the Kern River is absolutely raging right now coming down the canyon from Lake Isabella. It’s quite a sight to see how swollen all these rivers coming out of the Sierra Nevada mountains are! What a change from two years ago!
Say hey, Juan, thank you so much for taking us on this beautiful ride along in N. Cali. This is an adventure I hope to make someday. I was born in Orange and for my nine young years in Cali we just never got to take a trip up north, kinda of too bad. Any how Stay Safe, Bee Well. Regards, from N. Tx. Doug/Sylvia
JUAN, Thanks for the trip, that water velocity, was quite something , here it is JUNE, snow on the ground in CALIFORNIA, but 6000ft , oh well, GOD BLESS YOU ALL THERE , Cheers from NJ
Wow, didn't realize that was John Paul Jones there! No wonder it sounded so great! 😎 Rivers are crankin' out there! What an amazing volume of water farther downstream. Thanks for sharing!👍👍 Your bike reminds me of my old '94 CBR600F2, because of the colors - it was white, black with a little bit of red in it. Loved that bike. Owned it a bit over 7 years after buying it brand new (first new machine I had ever bought before). Put 13k miles on it the 1st 5 years in MA ... then when I moved out West and lived in Phoenix and Livermore for 2 years, I put 25k on it! Had a lot more favorable weather to ride out there than back here, that's for sure! I could never put those kinds of miles on a bike that style today - even in my 20's, that thing would make me stop and take many breaks, and that was considered a comfy bike as far as sport bikes go.😊
Love it! Was just up at Sardine lake for the night a few weeks ago. Hwy 49 is a great ride! Wanna try going over the Sierra from Yuba City through La Porte maybe next weekend.
Thanks Juan. As expected, the water is flowing mightily! I just hope it calms down in mid-August when I start my hike from Mammoth down to Mt. Whitney via the JMT.
I like it. Break out the road tyres for a change. The roads look sweet and the scenery sweeter. Reminds me of the kawarau river here in nz although it’s in a deeper gorge, but road follows it for a while. Same gold mining country and snow melt and pines mixed with our native beach. You’d enjoy a tour around our South Island. Be like a home away from home without the big open spaces or deserts. Pity American don’t fly LA to AK? Family holiday must see. ANZ orders for 787-10 to replace their 777-200s. Aiming to fly direct to NY from AK. 14200k non stop. Makes the pacific crossing to California seem like a short hop! Nice rendition of a LZ classic. See ya here!
Thanks Juan! It's great to see the rivers so nice and full. Man, is that rushing water loud. Couldn't hear everything you said. LOL What a beautiful ride you had. There's nothing like California. Plus I really liked that music. :-)
Highway 12 through the Napa Valley is gorgeous, too. I love that drive when it gets too hot in the central valley to go anywhere. It's nearly always nice, with a lovely sea breeze that cools you off very nicely.
Nice video, Juan. I grew up in California and love the Sierra's. I miss going up there. I've been in NM since 2012 having spent my first 55 years in the Los Angeles area. Don't think I'll ever move back though. Thanks again, Juan.
Nice reporting... we are having a hell of a runoff here in southwestern Colorado... my local river usually runs at 4,700 CFS and right now it's nearly 8,000 CFS. Water is cascading off every hillside, even in the mid elevations, it's totally awesome! Here's hoping the dry conditions in the West end for awhile.
Thanks for bringing back some memories from my childhood way back in the 1950's. We visited some family friends in Downieville a couple of times where I got to swim in the Yuba River just upstream from town. Fast forward 30 years when I took my kids for the same swim much to their delight.
Juan im.not sure it's your great information or your love for music that brings me back but brother I'm with ya! I wish I could donate but work and doc bills have kept me poor. But I always like and comment.

I disagree about the singer being off key. There were a couple of very brief and minor "pitchy" moments, but he was almost note for note with Robert Plant's original recording. I know because I have everything Led Zeppelin ever recorded, including interviews. I think that this is the prettiest cover version of "Goin' to California" that I've ever heard.

Very nice, calming I bet...
Nothing like rolling water
Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, Juan!

amazing... just amazing. great video! Still a lot of snow here in the Utah mountains.
Wow! John Paul Jones!!! I was a big Led Zep fan back in the day.... Still feel sad about John Bonham's passing. Impressive video - thanks.
I dunno, Brownie. What you call "muddy" is crystal-clear when compared to the Missouri here in St Louis ;-) Thanks for posting, good music too!
The flooded Arkansas River in my backyard looks just like dirt. Lol. That Yuba is CLEAN!!
Beautiful. Reminds me of the Frio River here in Texas after a significant rain.

Good conditions for some rafting, or kayaking.
Juan why not try panning for gold on the bends in those streams.
Beautiful. It looks raft-able?
