Most people could not live the life that you do. But I think most of those same people, myself included for sure, could benefit from your core message of improving your life by simplifying your life. Stay happy and healthy bro!

I can't have a fire in my camp so I have a one burner propane stove. With the filling adapter for a barbeque tank, I refill the small green cans over and over. My camp box is a bear and mouse proof cooler. One pot for Hot water, french press, fried sausage and potatoes, cleaned regularly with no soap. I cook my pan breads in a toaster oven!! I sit cross legged like you are so much I have a callus on my ankle?! Love the lifestyle! Pork fat is better than beef fat. I use coconut oil ( just because I live on an island! It tastes awesome. I pay others to cook for me a lot! I also cook for others, but too lazy to do it for myself! Lost track at around day 2700 lost outside. Cowboy up. What's the Horse doing??!!

Ive watched a few videos you've mentioned that you do not wash cooking utensils. Can you explain the reason? I'm intrigued. I do the dishes in our house and I am on the cusp of never doing them again. Also, what does being "dirty" most of the time do as far as your mental state/health? I find when I eat food with dirty hands for an extended time, I start to crave a wash.

    • @OverOnTheWildSide
      @OverOnTheWildSide  Рік тому +1

Yes I’m happy to share… first off, this is very important, I live in a dry climate. The danger of not washing dishes is bacteria growth. But just as I can dry meat safely, I can also leave a spoon out and it will dry and not grow harmful bacteria. As an alternative example I used to live in Seattle and my bottled I reused for water would grow bacteria. I barely have that problem here because it’s so much drier.
For cooking pots and pans it’s even less worry because when I use them after I’ve eaten out of them, they get heated up to destroy any bacteria.
So the only time I’ll do any kind of washing is if I’m afraid there’s too much flavor from dinner that will effect my breakfast.
I’ve never minded dirty hands as long as they’re dry. I figure if I can’t scrub the dirt off, it’s not gonna come off onto my spoon. And some gals like my rugged hands. I don’t smell bad, if that’s a concern. My hair and myself smell good. People actually are drawn to my aroma because I smell like campfire.
After that the only reason to clean is aesthetics. I do like cleanliness and I’m finding the balance of practical, lazy and being dignified.

Fantastic. Your bread is similar to Ghakku here in Scandinavia. My mother is a native Scandinavian (Sami people)
    0.3 cups milk powder
2.5 table spoon dry jeast if you want to.
    3.2 cups wheat flour
    Salt
    5 table spoon syrup
    Water
    Stock, broth or tasty fat
No need to freeze it or anything. Holds for days and is exceptional good as trail bread when hearding reindeer, hunting or trailriding

black pepper for the apocalypse. that got a laugh out of me. ive had the same thought. that's an interesting set up you've got going. i like that box. simple. i notice you didn't mention beans. do you eat beans, lentils or split peas? those and dried chillies, rice, cornmeal, wheat flour, bacon, duck/goose fat are what i keep on hand. enough so i wouldn't need to go to town for a few months if i didn't want to. i grow garlic, onions, various herbs, pumpkins and fingerling potatoes. all those keep for months if not up to a year possibly. im keeping it pretty simple myself. take care man. good to see ya.

Excellent, you’re further along than I am in some ways. Beams are a frustrating one for me, they’re such an excellent food for simplicity- storage, cost, availability but they give me gas so freaking bad I avoid them. Sadly it’s the same with lentils. Split pea I may try again, it’s an excellent food source for sure.
Pumpkins or some type of squash are high on my priority list if I start gardening. Cornmeal is hard for me to digest or I’d be using it a lot. On the other hand I do like that I’m able to buy so few things.
I’m glad the black pepper got a laugh 😂

Love your lifestyle. I make a biscuit alternative because I like the flavor of Hoe Cakes. 2 part cornmeal, 1 part flour, baking powder, salt, and water to form thick batter. Cook like a pancake. The wheat gluten in the flour is the binder for cornmeal.

    • @OverOnTheWildSide
