Where did all of these eyeballs come from? 👀👀👀👀
Who knows?
Lord Oculon's servants are everywhere. Sooner or later, we track down everyone.
👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
This is some excellent work I'm watching. Very well done.
From the realm of the great Oculon, the multi-dimention of Leftist proeminence, projects that need visibility, such as your extremely well-put-together exposé.
(ok: ua-cam.com/video/mbHTQdQlBlk/v-deo.html)
The eyeballs have arrived, and they are now furious.
A legion of eyeballs, watching, waiting, and highlighting small leftist content creators, I am eager to learn
Where my slimes at!?!
Behold the views of the rod and cone legions!
All hail Lord Oculon!
Hey, it's the person SlimeLord called cutie
waddup cutie
Every time I think I've reached the depths of my sadness and anger regarding the AIDS epidemic, I learn more, and find it can go deeper.
How are you able to make something so complicated and unpleasant so watchable and informative? Fantastic video essay
I'm so devastated, sad, and angry I can't even make an Eyeballs joke. Thought Slime brought me here. I hate this planet and I want it to change!!!!
Don't hate the planet. Hate the species that makes it such a miserable hellhole in so many places.
Thoughtslime sent me. Thanks for the well-reasearched yet incredibly depressing history lesson.
Mind Piss sent me here. My goodness, how is it I find these channels this good with paltry sub numbers, yet “people” like Chowder and Ben Sha-P-word have millions. This world is odd
Right wing people are REALLY into having their confirmation biases catered to?
...Not to say we lefties don't do the same thing...I know it's a bad habit of mine...but just not quite as much.
(....Also...I love ellipses...they are...great)
@@grmpEqweer excellent self awareness comrade. We do have to watch ourselves. That being said, this video is awesome
I mean, when your goal is to make money, yes, you will make money than someone trying to spread information.
In many cases those people have incredibly well funded careers, with ties to the likes of Fox News and Prager U. It's not an equal comparison. I've argued with a number of right-wing people who on checking their accounts have been making videos for years and have a collective ~200 views on their 30 videos combined. They obviously think Ben Shapiro just did a good job or something and want to follow in his footsteps, though I imagine they're quite disappointed with the reality now.
@@Gaff.
Ben was born with connections. I don't know who he's funded by, but I'm sure he's funded by someone.
I don't know about Crowder.
Prager is funded by well-off far right people, although I'm not sure if he's still being funded by the Willkes.
It's amazing, seeing all of this, and hearing my father's voice in the back of my head singing Reagan's praises, after his own brother died in the AIDS epidemic. I wonder how much of this he's aware of, and how much he doesn't care.
I went after my parents on the misinformation they gave me on the AIDS crisis. My father, after claiming that he was there and thus my information is unimportant, even though I read all the fucking presidential memos that went back and forth between him and the CDC, his final conclusion was thus
"I don't want to know."
@@loorthedarkelf8353 that feeling is kind of prevalent among an alarmingly high percentage of Americans, especially older individuals.
This is an incredibly good video, and I'm glad Matt was able to succeed where the algorithm failed. You deserve a million views on this thing.
Matt sent me! Black+First Nations and Canadian. People ask me "Why are you so angry? Why are you sad?" I want things to be better. Thanks for the history lesson! (O_O)
"Why are you so angry? Why are you so sad?" *gestures broadly at everything*
@@hootsyoutube At 62 years young the only thing that I know for sure is that I do not know. Side note my people fled the USA for Canada for the freedom. I am sure we got it. Your questions are good. How are you not angry? Are you not sad also? ((o_o)
@@ed022859 I am, but I try to cloak it in optimism and hope. It’s our best weapon.
Hey guys! My video gets pretty Americentric in the second half, so if anyone has any input or interesting facts or documentary and book recs about the history of HIV/AIDS in the 80s-today in the rest of the world, please feel free to drop them in the comments and discuss! We always appreciate sharing knowledge here at little hoot studios!
Gaetan Dugas. Poor guy, wasn't aware he was harming anyone. 🌹
P.s. Rest in peace also Isaac Asimov. He was transfused with HIV+ blood.
So was tennis player, Arthur Ashe. He achieved the Grand Slam, winning singles titles at Wimbledon, the American Open and Australian Open. He was the number 1 player in the world in 1968. Due to a congenital heart condition he required a quadruple heart bypass in 1979 at the age of 36. This required a transfusion. His transfusion predated the early reports of Gay Related Immune Disorder (GRID) which was a term used to describe what would later come to be referred to as HIV/AIDS. He died in 1993.
These eyeballs are crying, holy shit i didn't think I could hate our healthcare system more than I already did. damn that video took me a while to get through.
My Eyeballs are full. My heart is sad.
Subscribed.
"History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes" was a great end to a great video. Really appreciate the research and time put into this, and now my eyeballs are subscribed 👍
Greetings from the eyeball zone, submit to our eyeballs, fear not
Never has the human tendency to turn a blind eye to "the other" been more pointed than here. Great work, Amanda.
Did you just say "EYE"?
It seems fitting that this video was posted on Jan. 25th since that date, among other things, is when "RENT" premiered on Broadway. It opened Jan. 25th, 1996.
I'm a millennial, too (I was born in 1988), so I also grew up in the shadow of the AIDS crisis. I heard things here and there about it as a kid and of course learned about the virus itself as a teen in school. But it wasn't until I was auditioning for my college's production of "Angels in America" that I started researching what life was like at the height of the pandemic and learned just how systemic the stigmatization went. It sickened me that people could be so willfully ignorant and have no compassion because, "Well, I'm not in that group, so who cares?" or, "It only affects people I already consider amoral, so let 'em die". And seeing these things rhyming in 2021 is just heartbreaking. It makes me wonder how we'll look back on the current pandemic. Hopefully those who are currently doing nothing will be put alongside Reagan as some of history's most callous monsters.
I come from the Eye Ball Zone. My brain and eyeballs are shocked by all of this! You did an amazing job with this. Liked, subscribed and sharing!
Eyeballs...eyeballs...eyeballs
EDIT: good video, and I appreciate you listing sources :)
Brought here by Thought Slime but Subscribed because of the top tier content.
Same here my slimy friend.
STAR BOARS!!!
*anxious looks around for Cody*
It's a damn good thing that the boars had nothing to do with this. But they have done too much already. Let's hope something can be done about them...
My eyeballs cringed out of my skull at that laughter by the press pool. The absolute callousness of it all
You understood what was said in that part of the video?
Thought Slime sent me and I'm so glad he did because this was an incredibly informative, well-researched, and captivating video. Finding out that HIV has been around in humans since the 1920s was a mind-blowing moment, and learning that the mass spread could've been prevented by something as simple as properly sterilizing vaccination syringes was heartbreaking.
5 minutes in and i'm subbed!!
Eyeball zone!
Here from Thought Slime, and ho boy, I don't even remember what the Thought Slime video was about after finishing this...
Infinite Growth is bad.
Capitalism is grey goo that can't be stopped by individuals because by this point it is automated.
The eyeballs admire your good work.
Really great video! It breaks my heart as a queer person how much of our history is suffering at the hands of ignorance and contempt, and how much that continues on to this day. I'd never quite considered before how much the anti-Asian racism surrounding the COVID pandemic echoes the homophobia surrounding the AIDS pandemic. It's truly disturbing how reliably we, or perhaps more to the point, the people in power, fall back to bigotry and xenophobia in situations like this.
Congrats on the eyebie nomination! 🥳👀
ThoughtSlime sent me thanks for your work our eyeballs are upon this!
Fantastic video essay, I'm so glad I was directed to your channel!
Matt sent these eyeballs. 👀 Subscribed.
Woah! Star Boars!?!?! Do I have to get Cody down here to talk on the boar menace?
Edit: 👀👀👀thought slime sent these eyeballs 👀👀👀👀
Lord Oculon sent me, but I decided to like and subscribe on my own.
I know I'm a bit late and this video is a bit older now, but I've watched a lot of your videos lately and I just wanted to say that I really enjoy how much effort you put in, how well researched, voiced, edited, filmed, scripted, etc, all of them are. Even when the content is a little heavier (I started on a Disney video and ended up here), you make such a great video, and it's like the best parts of an essay with the annotations/captions and the footage acting as footnotes or citations. Yes, I'm a bit of an essay enjoying nerd, but I really love your content
this is incredibly maddening. every single step was preventable, but stalled by inaction by those with the resources to stop it. just a mess of marginalization.
My eyeballs thoroughly enjoyed this content! I knew about some of this but the way you strung it along from colonialism through to the American AIDS Crisis filled me in on a lot and while sad and awful you made it very interesting. The point you made towards the end that a multinational corporation is making an _ideological_ choice to not allow generics/sell their treatments at prices affordable to certain people is a really great way to frame it. Reagan would be so proud of them, doubly so since his economic policies gave them such power in the first place!
Overall I really liked your style, you had a good talking pace and comedic timing, and I really liked your voice/mannerisms/way of speaking. My only critique would be to balance out your sound volume/quality, especially in the scientist and 80s-doc bits. I know you were going for a certain effect but I found myself having to adjust my volume at times throughout. But otherwise awesome vid (even if about a terrible ongoing tragedy,) and I look forward to seeing more from you!
Two more eyeballs here.
They are (currently) attached to the brain of a doctor in the U.K., and feeding him all of this information, filling him with rage and sadness. Subscribed.
Those eyeballs 👀 are everywhere. As someone who grew up around that time it’s with a heavy heart that I admit to falling in line with the stigmatised version of how AIDS spread and even (🤮) telling tasteless jokes about it. I say this to both honest about my own culpability and the stress the importance of good information in the face of things we don’t understand but fear. Thank you so much. Now where’s that bell ....
15:14 Wow. I've explained this basic need to others, but straight. I think it's universal desire not to be alone.
I'm so glad you got Eyeballs on this.
A while back my dad insisted that the government was heavily invested in treating & supporting people with AIDS, as though it was just a natural fact that the US government would obviously care about taking care of its citizens back then (he was making a comparison of how things were "so much better back in the day") and I was just absolutely baffled at how he lived through that time with no awareness of what was actually happening.
Definitely looking out for more of your content in the future!!!
EYEBALLS!! And a 40 minutes long video, great!
Fascinating (and enraging). Def worth a sub.
Also, I'm fond a turn of phrase from Charles Coleman Finlay : "those who do learn from history are doomed to see the repetition coming."
About to binge your videos this was really good
The eyeballs sent us, but we stayed for very smoothly delivered and well researched clip.
UA-cam made this video all but impossible to find; I had to search by content creator and video title, and it still wasn't the first result that came back. It's almost as if they didn't want people to see it or something. Regardless, it was worth the effort, and I'm thankful for it.
I have this trouble all the time, and I watch every video she puts out. 'Cause, Mom.
The Eyeball Zone don’t miss. Fantastic video, thank you for doing work.
When I first started watching thought slime, I didn't pay attention to the eyeball zone. Now it's my favorite part. I've seen so many interesting videos like this one I would never have found otherwise.
The eyeballs... I can't defy them...... *They're holding my family hostage.*
Congrats on getting eyeballed!! Awesome video!! 💗💗💗
I'd like to say I can't believe the price of AIDS medication in those countries but I absolutely can. It's abhorrent to see this negilgence over human lives persisting to this day.
Sadly yes. Fakking ultra-capitalism strikes again.
Hey just a friendly neighborhood eyeball helping out the only way I meaningfully can. TY for sharing your art with us/me and shedding light on this important issue.
Very good and informative video! Definitely subbed! Though I would recommended working on the audio so that it stays more consistent all throughout. It was a bit of a hassle constantly having to adjust the volume so that I could bring everything you said to a level I could hear.
But that aside, once again, great vid!
Lord Oculon sends their regards. Excellent video.
18:16 and we come full circle from 0 being O for "Origin"
Really awesome video, LH. Sobering and infuriating, but such an important story to tell.
This channel is criminally undersubbed. I hope the Eyeball zone fixes that. The video was incredibly informative, thank you.
Got dropped here from the Eyeball Zone. Subbed. This is really well done.
I'm learning things and learning is fun because knowledge is power
Came from Thoughtslime and subscribed. Great piece of work!
Well my eyeballs are filled with tears and bloodshot with anger after watching this. But keeping it real is the path forward to a better future so Thanks for putting this out there!
Sometimes I find leftist content that is interesting because it shows me a new angle to look at things, and I am satisfied with it. This is the first Time a UA-cam video completly blows my mind. I am at the same time astonished by this story and frightened by the fact I never learned it in school. Your work is just amazing !
Got here from the eyeball zone. Saw the video was 39 minutes long. Got concerned. After 39 minutes of this high quality presentation, I wanted another 39 minutes. Subbed!!
Here with 2 eyeballs and one new subscription! Heartbreaking but incredibly important video.
I'm going to binge the rest of your content now, thank you for establishing my evening plans :)
Came from Thought Slime great content!
THE PRODUCTION😍😍😍😍😍 THE TEA
I really enjoyed this. You have a very professional quality to your tone that sounds like a documentary I would see on TLC or The History channel in their golden years. The information was presented with passion and didn't pull any punches or shy away from uncomfortable details. You also have a great since of comedic timing and the whole video was written and performed beautifully. This topic is something I think everyone needs to more familiar with and you made it accessible. Thank you for making it. I can't wait to see what you do next.
This video is amazing
i'm currently reading And The Band Played On and I almost fell into the trap of thinking badly of Gaetan Dugas, so thank you for pointing out that he's not the monster some people painted him as
Fucking EXCELLENT content. Don't tone it down. Check out In The Mix, Andrew Huang, Eliminate etc or just UA-cam "sound leveling" or mastering or something or hit up Fiverr, that stuff could use some work. De-hissing too. This shit is too well written in research for mastering to be an issue for the reactionaries. Subbed, notified. Really excited for your other work.
Eyeballs! We are here to observe everything, whether everything wants to be observed or not!
It is the will of the ever present eyeballs. You can't escape!
I audibly gasped at that last line. Really excellent work here.
came from thought slime, and this is really great content! keep working, this is great.
"All eyeballs in you!!!!". I'm just 1 of many of those eyeballs ..... But please know that you created a really well done piece of work. And I thank you for taking the time and having the thought to do so. It's one of those things that tons more people, if not everyone should/ needs to see!! But then that would make it harder to keep these things "Out of sight out of mind." So they can keep going through their life as though it's all "Going to be ok , and everything is fine!"
Sadly for everything "The truth is out there." But people don't want the truth because it Hurts, Doesn't make people a tin of money , and it makes people that much more conscious of other issues that continue to take place. And thus they want to part in any of that !!!!
Can't think of an eyeballs-related comment that hasn't already been made. A brilliant, but harrowing video!
i just NEED to say: this was a phenomenal documentary, i learned so much, and you present it in such a good way. i will be watching everything you share, for sure!
I don't have words. The history rhymes saying, that was a gut punch.
You had me at 'Teddy Ruxpin on a shelf in the background'.
5 out of 5 stars. Anyone cool enough to be acquainted with one of the best parts of the 80s is clearly worthy enough to earn a play on my playlist.
Oh and the video was pretty based too.
Thumbs, thumbs for you 👍
This is so well made, I wish it had more views.
Like many other viewers, I was brought here aloft the winds blowing from the endless void known only as the E Y E B A L L Z O N E. I haven't quite finished the video yet, but I'm already thoroughly impressed - your presentation style, content, editing, and production quality are *excellent* for a new channel. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see you blow up!
If I could offer one critique: the "old fashioned vaporwave VCR" audio filter you used around 3:45 kinda makes you sound a bit robotic. It's not quite as prominent in other shots, but you might want to tone it down a bit in the future. That's it, that's might only criticism - excellent work, keep it up!
@8:46 i feel very conflicted because my brain says this is a serious matter about blood transmission but my body says it's time to bop
Fuck that was a heavy watch... I never knew where it came from, and despite knowing quite a bit about the 80s pandemic, every new piece of media on it just seems to reveal that it was handled far worse again and again than I ever could have suspected... Thank you!
One purely mechanical criticism: the sound-levels being so radically different in parts made it really hard for me to focus due to my auditory processing issues... So an edit that's leveled out a bit more or scripted subtitles would go a very long way in making it accessible!
Got sent here by Thought Slime. This is great work! I had no idea about the early origins, I've always had to shrug whenever people talk about the monkey sex myth.
everytime i hear about the aids pandemic, i just get so, SO angry at the individuals and systems that let hundreds of thousands of people die. i also mourn all the people who were abandoned by the systems meant to protect them and who were ostracized by so many members of their community. this is a beautiful and heart-wrenching video on a disease who continues to kill thousands, especially in regions of the global south. i commend you for making this video
Here from the eyeball zone in service to Lord Occulan. Excellent video. Thank you.
I'm prolly gonna hate myself for watching this. Thanks for making this regardless, I learned a lot :)
This was very good. Very sad and thoroughly enraging and deeply depressing, but also (or probably: therefore) very good.
The visual gags, too omfg this is the best new content I've come across in a while
This was fantastic, looking forward to more videos from you!
Really excellent work, I made sure to share it around. The eyeballs are everywhere!
Thought Slime promised this video would enrage as well as educate, and they did not disappoint.
We've got our eye on you
and geez...my gut clenched up at the mention of Helms.
I apologize for the late arrival. I got the eyeballs' call to action on time, I just was busy...er...doing laundry or something...Anyway, great video! Love your 70's get up!

Here from z Eyeballsss 💗 I hope you get a million views on this, thank you for educating us!
The production quality, the line delivery, the CADENCE.
High quality content, and very informative, big ups and I wish I could sub twice.
this essay was amazing on all levels
great video! it was well-researched and presented in an easy to follow and entertaining way. and well-edited too!
The eye balls compelled me. Great video.
Think of all the eyeballs that were lost to this crisis. Devastating. It makes me furious.
