As a long-time member of the Hornby community, I thank everyone involved with creating and installing this major new island landmark. I am confident that this totem will be a big help with the healing of First Nations' adults. And just as importantly, it will foster a sense of identity in the young, and in the generations to come. Identity is key to a good life.
This totem will also encourage non-First Nations people to learn about the history of our coast, which will help relations among us all.
"Big medicine" has arrived in Helliwell Park.

Gratitude to the K'omoks First Nation for the generous welcome and opportunity to observe this sacred ceremony, and to the one on Denman later the same day. Wela'lin! Also to the film maker for this beautiful footage, thank you!
