Would have taken needle nose pliers with no grooves flat version pinched either end of the plastic that holds the carbon brush holder in place just so gives it a little bit more tightness that's just my opinion good job
When it comes to checking a fuse, I'd always recommend taking the fuse out of an appliance with a similar value fuse that you know is working and swopping them over with what might be the defective fuse. That way if the defective Item then works and the working item stops working, you've proved that the fuse it at fault. Very often people take a fuse from a packet or one lying around the house/garage and swop it over without having proved to themselves that the fuse isn't also a dud.
nice, but you could also have removed old grease with metal grit & changed with new white lithium dielectric grease, and oiled the rotary shaft. Its best to do these whenever you open the drill.

I'd put that in the bin and get something better, cheap ones never last and definitely not worth spending on when it gets to the point of the parts cost more than the drills worth, still yours was a none cost repair for now !
