the worst part of aftermath is after you've bought all of the knowledge upgrades. by that point you've likely already reached the final area and your sense of progression slows way down. i love the game and keep going back to it every so often for a maxed out difficulty run, but it's never as good as the first 10 to 15 hours. it's a truly good game that feels like it could be great with just a tiny bit more polish and a bit more endgame content. to me, it's easily worth the price as it stands, but i can't help but hope for some dlc that makes it the game that it feels like its so close to being.
tfw I managed to beat the game with the first ever survivor, very poorly armed because the rushing but end game loot drops are insane enough to give you a chance at the final arena
This is great to know. Been eyeing this game for awhile now and is often on sale for $12.50 or so. Even for good 10-15 hours, assuming I’m over it by then, sounds like it may be worth it. Thanks for taking the time to
I played Dead Zone on Kongregate. It was amazing. I remember as a leader, I had a machine gun and every class for every purpose. I even tried raiding some of the player's base. It was much harder than I thought, because of the fire suppression. I also had events from Christmas, Easter and 4th of July, good times. Everything was expensive as heck tbh. Sadly, the creators of The Last Stand: Dead Zone announced that there was no other way to keep the game online, sooo they shut down for good. :(
I wish for The Last Stand: Aftermath to add more contents. We really must support this game. I do want to play more, but already beat the game and got everything what I wanted. We need more updates! The game is too good to be forgotten.
best beginner upgrades are infection spread redaction, knowledge points increase, radio upgrade and bag capacity. With it you'll have much more time to explore and place to loot also you'll gain upgrade points faster and level up without spending precious batteries. second best upgrades are melee weapon durability and chance to find ammo. after that feel free to upgrade whatever you want
Holy shit thank you for mentioning Dead Zone! I've been trying to remember the name for months now and my 10 year old self never realized it was part of this franchise
This game is like the combination of Dying light and project zomboid! You are infected, need some kind of meds to not turn, fight off the medical team keeping you away from freedom just like in dying like and on the way explore the ruins, gather materials and slaughter zombies just like project zomboid! i love it
I started DF in 2007. I was 8 or 9 years old. I remember admin posted df 3d was free for everyone but of course, we were Rick rolled. Plan on starting up again, ill always come back to my childhood game.
To think this series inspired one of the best zombie shooter in history. This hurts how low it goes under everyone's radar and for sad good reason......
i haven’t forgotten about what last stand dead zone was like it was my introduction into base building games and i haven’t played a base building game nearly as good ever since and i am really starting to think that it’s impossible last stand aftermath is not bad but nothing will top last stand dead zone i was hoping that someone would revive the game and i had hope seeing that the image on the cover of the game is the exact same one from last stand dead zone but sadly i have realized my dream will never come true as they usually don’t
This is essentially death road to Canada not to say anything negative about either and they are a bit different but I think it'll be good for a quicker series like others said once you play through and get all your upgrades it'll give such a different feel so I think it be amazing
the sad part of this is that most people can't even play the game cause of a bug that crashes after a black screen at the intro so most fans can't even try out aftermath because of it i'm surprised you were able to play this game unless this is pre recorded gameplay but the developers haven't said anything about fixing the problem for years. It's sad but anyways the one game I miss is dead zone it was just really addicting to play even when you didn't choose to buy in game items you could make it pretty far without paying
I wish listed this game a while ago, And bought it just yesterday. Played it, Had a Ton of fun for the 3 hours I played it for, but never looked at or saw the reviews. I found the gameplay pretty fresh from the other rogue lites I've played recently. And this game just Scratches an Itch in the back of my head For Post Apocalyptic Zombie games
the only game I haven't 100% completed (or played, for that matter) in this entire series is deadzone. I really, really want it to come back so I can play that too.
I don't play zombie games anymore. In fact, I don't play games nowadays. But still misses loading up the gears, filling gas in the car and going for missions.. living in a neighborhood infested with zombies and enemies. Deadzone❤
I was just hoping for an open world version of this. I do like the roguelike element but around this when it first came out there were plenty of them. Heres to hoping the next game is a bigger.
tbh for me the only miss for this game was the lack of coop. but dont get me wrong I own the game and already have 100hrs played time. I've already cleared finished the game 3 times the game dont really go stale really fast and replayability was great but once you've been running it down on each run it just feels lonely. having someone to cooperate while scavenging each area would make it a lot fun.
Project Zomboid is what I've expected from sequel to Union City in all honesty. Aftermath is kinda okay, but it really didn't fill the shoes of the predecessor which is a bit shame.
Ah yes, the game which turns from barely scraping by for survival to a fun romp through the countryside. Just be wary of one hit kill crap. Also, the M82A1 is a disappointment but the SR-110 and the Flamethrower are OP. EDIT: Because the SR-110 ignores armor.
Was trying to play the demo right now, and in all my life, I've never had an issue where trying to play a game would give me a literal black screen after the intro text (which seems to be a long running issue within the community, and a fix was promised by the DEVs within a pinned thread on Steam). Just the buggiest hunk of cow manure among all the cheap, soulless cash grabs I've played up to this point.
1. The game's graphic is uninspiring, compare to the strong art style of the previous games, Aftermath just looks like an ordinary indie game. 2. Although the melee feel satisfying, the gunplay in Aftermath is just painfully mediocre, there is basically no knockback on your character, and the sound design is lacklustre. 3. The game doesn't feel finished, especially on how empty the late game content is, what you experience in your first 3 runs basically are what all you will get from this game, they show their full hand way too early and no hidden ace to back it up. 4. Rogue-like (arguably) just doesn't has that many popularity compare to other zombie game format, I really hope they would go back to the survive adventure style of the first 3 games, like PZ

I wish they'd bring Dead Zone back. I spent so much time on that game...
Heck no, that was just them trying to get people to buy in game crap.

We need more updates!
The game is too good to be forgotten.
Fun Fact: The "zombie jesus" has been a part of the game since early access. A buggy boy that's never been fixed lmao

This game seems nothing at all like zomboid other then the sameish camera angle and having zombies.
The zombie infection in Dying Light only came up when the story demanded it to, otherwise it's a none factor.
This is what Dead Frontier 3D should have been like... And I loved spamming Union City out of all the Last Stands cause of customization.

The Last Stand franchise had a glow up with this game
I hope you check out the warfare game series next. It’s made by the same devs for this series and it’ll soon be brought to steam.

One of the few games that had me so hooked I 100%d it in under 10 days, game just gave me so much nostalgia to the old ones and was amazing
I really wish Saga of the Dead get this kind of treatment. Both this and Saga of the dead are my Favorite Browser/Flash games from the past❤
Sadly never managed to play dead zone, but aftermath sure is a blast.
If I could take this combat system and drop it into Project Zomboid it would be amazing
1:05 that mechanic reminds me more of gears of war, in fact it's pretty much the same exact thing.
the sad part of this is that most people can't even play the game cause of a bug that crashes after a black screen at the intro so most fans can't even try out aftermath because of it i'm surprised you were able to play this game unless this is pre recorded gameplay but the developers haven't said anything about fixing the problem for years. If they could count hours in The last stand union city I’d have hundreds.
Dead Zone was probably the best one I've played in this franchise.

I know it's nothing, but it's wild that the active reload mechanic is now only recognized by EA's Battlefront 2 and not Gears of War anymore
I miss deadzone.
Same :(
Loved this game beat all of them and played going through every path. Amazing game series and very addictive
I've played the demo of this game
Btw the game is gonna be free on epic from September 19th to the 26th I know Ill be trying out the game

Deadzone❤
I wouldn't call the melee combat satisfying, but most other aspects of the game are. Truly a well made game, I wish it got more updates.

Would love to see story type video of this covering all zones!
they just have to re-release dead zone, even as just solo only, i loved that damn thing
Feels like state of decay. Very cool
That Shane Gillis edit. 😂
This game is soo good but suffers from lack of content. An expansion will greatly increase the appeal of aftermath
Thank god he did aftermath lol. I was hoping for this! Love this game so much!
the last game ended open and i felt it needed more
just use Knife it durable and really light u can carry multiple knife for Gun wise only use when there's 20 zombie in the same place or during a horde
This feels like one of the games that would be even better with co op
No I did not forget it. Best game from Armor games
Edit: this new one does not convince me...I'll continue playing Project Zomboid woth mods❤️
How is this game for console ? I wish this game had coop would be fun to play together with someone.
