@@charliefen I didnt play Animal Crossing so I was not aware they also have cards. But the actual method is irrelivant in my opinion. I just want to have more ways to interact with the switch and the Pokemon franchise.
@@yotameshel7876yeah it's a big oversight in the video tbh. Animal Crossing has had official amiibo cards since like 2015. They released series for Happy Home Designer, New Leaf Welcome amiibo, New Horizons, and Happy Home Paradise, and they were pretty consistent with releasing them for a long time. I think there also might have been an amiibo festival series but don't quote me, it might've just been figures. The cards were however compatible with amiibo festival and all of the above games.
When the Switch lite came out, I knew that was the death of Nintendos interest of doing anything creative with the joy con sensor or HD rumble. Some games require a separate pair of joycons and something tells me that's why there's not better motion aiming for some games that don't really make sense without it (getting rid of resident evils 4 motion aiming makes it harder to play for me). But like, why make games that have unique features if a bunch of kids with budget consoles can't play em? I bet it affects any indie or 3rd party developers decisions to try anything creative. I bet we could get games blind people could play with sign language and HD rumble sensing.

The IR camera is pretty accurate to evaluate your heartrate in RFA. I have a heartrate monitor on my chest and both give a similar reading. I was surprised this was the first thing you reviewed. XD
Regarding the ring fit heart rate monitor. You have a faint pulse in your thumb but do not in your other fingers so the joycon may have been the accurate reading. To make a fair comparison youd need to use both thumbs.
If you counted all four Labo kits, there would be 16 in total. Hey Wood! Great video and learned a lot about the IR that unfortunately is not being used a lot since launch. Same with HD Rumble. Maybe a do a video on that next??? That would be so cool!
the QR reader they could of had it in the switch Pokemon like they did for sun/moon games (scan a QR code either get the pokemon as a gift or have it spawn in the wild, but the added gmax/tera dens, but it could of been in BDSP or PLA)
So... I hate to break it to you, but you missed at least three games, and didn't show all of the IR camera features of a fourth. And... yeah, it's all Nintendo LABO stuff. In Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit, you showed the "car", but you didn't show the way the LABO uses the IR camera for both the piano and the house, which detects reflective tape within the cardboard machines you build to do various functions. In Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit, LABO uses the IR camera to detect reflective tape within the cardboard robot backpack you create to do various functions. Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 03: Vehicle Drive Kit and Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit, LABO uses the IR camera to detect reflective tape within the... okay, look, I can tell you're sensing a pattern here, but even if it's using the camera in a similar fashion, the different ways it uses the camera detection of the reflective tape is all really creative. Plus, both Ton-Con 03 and Toy-Con 04 include a custom-build software mode much like Game Builder Garage, and these also let you use the IR camera like in Game Builder Garage. And actually, I spoke a little too soon, because Toy-Con 3 *does* use the VR camera in an *extremely* unique way - in Battle mode, you can use it to import a fully-3D object (even your face) into the game to do battle on. Now, I'm sure some will argue that "well, Wood mentioned Nintendo LABO", but the four LABO kits included four separate pieces of software, they are four different games. This is further demonstrated by the fact that the latter releases in the series included additional functionality like the aforementioned game builder mode. And in any case, the *many* IR functions that series made use of weren't mentioned in the video. So... sorry to "um, actually" you here, but I think the Nintendo LABO series isn't getting quite as much credit as it deserves for just how truly creative it is.
I'm not your target audience, but I have to admit, this was pretty enjoyable. Loved your energy, loved all the dedication you put into finding all the games and going through all the hurdles, and loved the gotcha moments with actually buying those stuff for large amount of money. 8:22 Oh so they were able to make it work as a QR code scanner, but when i ask the people behind Nintendo Labo to make an HD version of Face raiders i get the SILENT TREATMENT!?
It could work if the console had a sensor bar, but the issue is that this sensor is ponted downwards from the joycon, making it cumbersome to use with conventional Wii games. What COULD work however is making a sensor bar to make light gun games work like House of the Dead and Ghost Squad work on the Wii. It was unfortunate that Sega didnt do this because I saw many complaints with the new House of the Dead for the Switch
Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher kind of uses it. In the same way you scan Amibo it allows you to scan NFC devices(IC cards, etc)to create monsters. I use my Suica cards.
Labo VR Kit also used an IR sensor for a gun minigame aswell as an "elephant" "accessory" to give the switch 6dof controller ability for one puzzle game and a paint game.
Send the cards to PSA, CGC, or SGC for grading and then they will be saved in a safe slab forever. You might be the only person to have them like that as well. Kinda cool
They just announced the Switch 2 and it lacks the IR camera on the new Joy-Cons. They also said that "Certain games may not be fully compatible with the new system". I know titles like "Ring Fit Adventure" and the Labo Kits were out of the question because they were accessories built around the Switch 1 hardware, but it seems like a backstep to not include it for titles which still use the IR camera without any special accessories for regular gameplay. Even newer versions of the 3DS maintained little-used features like the two outer cameras for full comptability.
lol! You're insane, Wood! We would have understood you not buying LABO again! I would have just said 'deal with it, I'm not spending almost $100 for another one"! LMAO! You're too good to us! This was super funny and cool! Seeing you play Trombone Champ was hilarious!
to be fair, since it is not medical rated device, having the controller take higher rate is better since it is safer for you. Imagine if your heart rate is more than 140 bpm but it shows 130...
An Oximeter uses Infrared Light and Normal Light to measure both the Oxygen in the blood, as well as the Heartrate, so it's not surprising that the IR Camera could also do the same thing!
I just got the Warioware game and I love it. I had no idea the IR camera even was there and then the game tells me to play rock paper scissors with the joycon. Truly a wtf moment.

The IR stuff in Labo was I think the best use of it by far. The way it made it play a whole piano with reflective stickers? So cool.
and the pedal and the backpack was SOOOOO fun
you could make custom maps to drive on using it. we IRd a egg carton and it made a crazy map
All of the labo sets using IR felt insanely responsive, it's surprising how well it works
The lack of attention Nintendo has given Ring Fit Adventure and the ring itself is nuts. Imagine Mario Kart + Ringcon support
