your snap on dealers never going to go hungry with all the stuff you seem to have haha
I’m really worried now about the actual cost of the T.I.G. Welders consumption ,what did it use.?
That's a loose definition of a shed... It's about 8 times the size of my flat.
I have just shit a brick as my shed is three times bigger!!
🤣
I live in a truck , my shed is many, many, many times larger than it.
That's only a fraction of it too.. The whole place is huge
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Guy Martin is so cool. A world champion, yet so humble.
NZ - We pay 14p per kW, so that's a plus. Biggest issue is companies gouging for profits.
Oh this is gonna be worth following. Oh and Guy have you heard of a Thermos 🤣❓️👍
Yeah I did the same thing with the power meter 🎉
8 weeks into the year in a 2 bed flat.. lekky stands at 540 so far .. 25 quid over on the emergency.. sharing a bath using tea lights to see at night and a motorcycle battery to charge our phones..forget about any heating or cooking .. absolutely ridiculous.. thinking of growing dope outside to help cover the cost of living NGL😅

Money saving tip number 1: Spend £25,000 on an air-source heat pump, second hand generator and servicing, and fuel storage for the red diesel. Also make sure your Small Waste Oil Burner hasn't been made illegal by the government.
Go guy go...top man
This guy has lots of money, we would all be lucky to have all that gear and property!
It’s odd how lots of celebs go out and buy a farm….could it be the tax breaks and subsidies?
YES BUT he is a 'MADE MAN' and th efreemaso nswill take it ALL BACK ONE DAY.
@@JohnnyMotel99 Yeah and the fact the price of land allways goes up. In guys case, i would say there is passion in him to run a farm. Unlike that nob from top gear.
@@ivgotballsofsteel4048 "Unlike that nob from top gear." hehehehe, so true!
Guy loves his toys.
So Guy gets to have his car run on red diesel but I can't?
You can do what you want if nobody is looking, no harm no foul
Bro... dont be dumb, his cars are fully electric. What runs on red diesel is his farming vehicles which is legal and the generator
He powers his electric car using diesel! haha! He also did 4 x 10 on a calculator lol, brilliant! ; )
Actually still a massive more efficiant system that putting the generator in the car and using a drivetrain,
@@BugattiONE666 I’m just messin’… 😉
He's built different for sure!!! ....also at 04:37 he's paddling through a wet workshop floor in just his socks?!! ...and then jumps on the welder too!
Does tha' nor'av any flipflops lad?! Haha, what an absolute legend!
@@chris4536 Agree! Haha, there’s no one like Guy! His enthusiasm for everything is off the charts! 😂
The diesel hybrid he drives, the one which starts the ICE using 12v of electron juice?
Hybrid Diesels have then existed since Rudolph booked that ferry ticket 😚✌️
Guy’s joie de vivre is infectious. This man is a ball of life - seen how he jumps around in excitement showing around his place.
Just image how much money he's spent on all the money saving things to save money......
Fake crisis being used to generate massive profits and manipulate the public.
And all the energy it takes to make them, so he can save energy...
I'm 100% behind people doing this and creating better systems, worked for a farmer that was totally into it, he had 4 tesla batteries at 20k each, plus outbuildings covered in panels, he was well over 100k invested to save money 🤷♂️
@@ukmud6218 did you see any panels on Guy's roofs ?
28 average cyclist! Are they still in primary school?
Around $2.00 pound per day, sounds more than reasonable?
That's stupid cheap, basically were all getting overcharged loads for our monthly electric bills
And here's me thinking it was illegal to burn waste oil!
....... Still what they don't know, eh!
Due to the, regulation changes made in 2016 mean it is illegal to burn waste oil.
UN-less a permit is obtained under Schedule 13A of the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010
Because Guy! is a Independent garage owner. He most likely has obtained the necessary permit in accordance with Schedule 13A of the Environmental Permitting Regulations, meeting the requirements of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) for the operation of waste incineration. Therefore allowing him to burn the oil Legally!
Australia they buy left over oil or get it for free ....from fish & chip shops to make Diesel "it takes some magic" but it's 20 percent of the true cost and illegal "Some people have been making it for years" Disclaimer - I don't know of these people I've just heard about it . "Saving Energy is a Thing.....but Us people can't be having that power for free! ☺
@@nigeharris1651 Not just in Oz eather!
tbh the emissions when they run are low but the laws in the UK are daft!
Pay roughly £1400 (not exactly) and you can
@@hausmaster9801 .... for the license?
Was considering running a diesel on heating oil (Kerosene) - All the heat to the radiators for cooling the engine, and all the power the house required.
In 1974, Fred Rudling heated his N. London, Enfield garage on the waste oil, using a burner he designed.
What about the exhaust heat as well. I suppose there's only so much heat you can use though.
@@joejoejoejoejoejoe4391 Through a water jacket maybe, to increase the incoming mains water temperature, or a large insulated tank (with a vent in case of boiling)! Would take a bit of designing to avoid choking the exhaust, and ensuring the water doesn't become a breeding place for legionella, etcetera.
I have a fan taking the heat from my boiler flue, from the small boiler room space, to my hall. Quite amazing how warm my hall has become in the morning, and how much heat was being lost to the roof.
@@tommiller1315 You would have to transfer the heat to water though, I had a FIAT 126 (air cooled) and the cooling air could be used to heat the interior (after the engine heated the air), but there was a special hollow bolt that would vent gas just in case the head gasket went, as if it did you'd be gassed, the same would apply to using the exhaust, any leak could be harmful. Another idea would be to use the waste heat to drive a heat engine (like a Stirling cycle), but you're chasing a small gain.
@@joejoejoejoejoejoe4391 I'd never run an engine indoors. Oh, and I got pollution problems from my car, a 1963 "Hillman Imp", as the heater air was taken from low down in the front of the car! Main problem would be the engine noise, so keeping it as far from me and my neighbours as I could.
How has a bulldozer in there garage only guy 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Electric is more than his mortgage. £500...
Imagine having such a low mortgage lol.
I can't even get a shed to purchase let alone a farm with a shed on it.
yes BUT thefreemasons will TAKE EVERYTHING FROM HIM when he stops 'FEEDING THE HIVE' never think he can leave his assets to his kids. freem asonry DOES NOT ALLOW THAT.
Wow. I’m actually impressed at what this doesn’t cost you. Privatized energy in the US means that in some states, like the one I live in, I’ve seen shops like this one cost over $700 a month. In fact, in my years sizing solar systems around energy bills, it seems like a lot of people have gotten used to absolutely obscene energy rates. .34/kWh (which must include supply & delivery,) is actually a comparative bargain, relative as these things are.
My mates a builder and he spends £12 in costas every day 4 large latte
then he is not building wealth 🤣
@@destickert1307 good comment !
last year I installed 2 x 235W solar panels, a 20A solar charge controller, charging 4 110Ah batteries and from that I run most of my shed equipment (except the big lathe) using a 1kW inverter, now I only use my shed a couple of times a week for a few hours, and this just about gives everything a chance to get back to full power- in the summer time, I have only recently started getting any charging over the winter, and its only a few watts, but its watts that are not coming from the grid, so its watts I am not paying for. (its set up as a totally separate system, not tied into the house mains.)
Blooody Hell .... loved this one .. let's investigate together like Sherlock and Watson
Robert Murray (tnt you tube) as Watson ?
his mate pays £500 a month for electricity for his house and Guy's 'shed' costs him only £730 a YEAR ???? I call BS.
Air heat pump.....generator.....red diesel burner.....old oil burner.....plus installation and upkeep.....helps if you have alot of cash you can sink into these things.....
Bloody nice shed Guy, don’t worry about the cost, at least you’re happy 😂
Charging an electric car with a diesel generator. Gotta love the future...
Hate to be a killjoy but it is only legal to heat using waste oil with a permit and it cost £3200 for the first year and £1400 per year thereafter, so I think it might cost more than £700 to power the shed 🙂
Hi Guy the price cap is 34p per unit but add the standing daily charge and VAT it increases to 43p per unit EDF prices, so increase your figures by nearly 25%. John
not that bad, in Nicaragua for an avarage flat You pay aprox 150-300$ a MONTH!
motion detecting lights? just a thought
Convinced guy is the walking talking doing living computer hes has 2 brains legend
Gay do you still work on the truck as much as you do mate can you please let us know brother ?
Burning waste oil is banned in UK since 2016!!
Great video. Will there be a dvd coming out?
I'd buy the entire collection! I don't know why the seem to be so closed on such a brilliant man?!?!?!
And you get paid for these tv shows ..............
So many buildings, so much roof space - Not a SINGLE solar panel in sight.
No small scale wind generators.
You can power everything with your 20kv generator using red diesel , then why are you still connected to the grid ?
Surely it would be far cheaper for you to burn red diesel.
I'm betting Volvo gifted you the xc40 for some Volvo truck event or sponsorship you did for them.
Feckin love this man
Fred Dibnah, the next generation.....
Haha 😂 that’s what I was thinking what a legend 👍🏻
I lived in a totally solar powered house "with battery back up" 16 yr old system 940 mah, batteries, totally off grid, "Top them up with demineralized water paid Zero power for 7 years.....42 inch Plasma TV, "not LED" Washing machine, vacuum cleaner 27 inch imac computer, + USB charging for phones boil the kettle for your tea guy martin, etc Zero mains power ran everything 6.5kw OFF GRID standalone system. Now you can buy 1400mh batteries $2000 for 4 batteries in Australia that was 10 years ago,
Only thing with your place I can see is insulate your pipes "so far"
P.S your a Fuking Legend & A Top Bloke! If the rest of the world could be like you and understand damn near everything.....The World would be a better place!
I'm an old fan back when you didn't even want to be filmed fixing lorries, trucks 🤪👌🙏😎😎😎
Perfect candidate for solar power there.
Using energy during the day, while producing it.
It may be grim up north but solar does work still.
Im off grid completely and run my workshop on solar power and lithium batteries.
Welders, compressors, table saws, everything.
He needs to get a flask .
It's amazing with those power meters... their cheap enough now to get a few of them to analyze the power draws from a bunch of equipment...
Did that to a previous landlord, him thinking that my welding was costing him alot of money... Then hooked it up to his ac unit...
Quieted up after that...
I don't think you can use red diesel for non agricultural use
do you want to know ? .............. "The new rules state that there are two elements to be considered when deciding if a vehicle is eligible to use red diesel or not. These are what type of machine it is and what it is going to be used for.
According to government guidance, the types of vehicle that qualify to continue to use red diesel after April 2022, include:
Vehicles designed to operate on a railway
Agricultural vehicles
Special vehicles
Unlicensed, including SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) vehicles.
However, being in the above list isn’t by itself enough to qualify the vehicle to use rebated fuel. To qualify, the vehicle, machine, or engine must also be involved in at least one of the following activities:
Agriculture, horticulture, aquatic farming or forestry
On land maintained by a community amateur sports club (CASC)
On a golf course or driving range
On land occupied by a travelling fair or travelling circus
Heating or generating electricity in a non-commercial premises
Cutting hedges, verges, or trees that border public roads
Clearing frost, ice, snow or flooding and for collecting or returning necessary equipment or materials to carry out this function."
That’s a very mean looking mini just inside your garage. Is that a race car you have been building?
Very cool bro with climate change and solar flares of the sun New Zealand we’re noticing the change cyclone Gabrielle cause havoc bro
Guy Dibner lol
Wait, is it legal to charge an electric car off a generator that runs on red diesel?
I thought red diesel had been done away with🤷♂️
@@resisantcubegaming983 yeah now you mention it, I thought they were getting rid of it
Yea you can. You can use red diesel as much as you like as long as it doesn’t get put in a vehicle that will be used on the public roads (unless it is an agricultural vehicle). You can have a Land Rover on a massive farm that never sees public roads and run it on red.
It’s only been outlawed in vehicles on the roads due to emissions, other than that you can use it as you please.
My diesel generator is ran off the stuff, if you think I’m paying forecourt prices to run it you must be joking
@@hausmaster9801 👍👌 nice man, everyday is a school day
"As a result of the changes in red diesel laws in 2022, some people mistakenly think red diesel is banned altogether. However, this isn’t the case. There are still circumstances, for some sectors, where the use of rebated fuel is permitted, and the good news for many of our members, particularly those involved in agriculture, is that they can continue to use it."
Higher energy bills are more to do with government printing money than owt else. Bet they don't get back to old levels too fast if at all.
I want to get a look at that mini when he opened the shutter. Looked flared as you like!
I want to see more of the volvo amazon estate wagon !!!!

he isn't deciding whether to cook a meal or heat the house anytime soon that's for sure.
34p/kwh, criminal. Here in Western Australia it's 27c/kwh (15.4p).
Then go to UK and do it cheaper and start selling cheaper electricity. Ohhh, you can't? Shame...
@@darekmistrz4364 Electricity in WA is a Government owned monopoly and it's cheap and reliable. Private enterprise competition is just a con to generate profits and feed the middle men.

You'd have to give your hands a good scrubbin' after! lol
Nah, he's still an engineer doing what he loves and this just happens to be an engineering project that goes hand-in-hand with the problems of modern life.
Is it correct that if you burn waste oil for heating you have to pay for a license from the Gov, over two grand a year or some such?
Yes it's true. As soon as I saw Guy using waste motor oil I wondered that. Equipment has to undergo an inspection too, I think that's an annual thing too.
@@shanehogarth6373 thanks, but will it just end up as the same as many people getting log burners now, you’re only supposed to burn certain things, yet people are burning any old shit in their fires, who’s going to be checking the emissions on joe blog’s house?
The more these fuel companies are screwing people into the ground, the less of a Fk the people are going to give when it comes to keeping their families warm in the winter. Just like the rest of the country, the whole thing is a complete mess. People are going to burn anything they can get their hands on, hopefully including a doorstep politician or two!

NOT A FAN of someone with a distinctive brown mark on his nose telling us how great everything in britain is. how cheap electricity is and got 'ALL THE RIGHT PALS' in armed services who get instruction from a 'LODGE'
I wonder if guy has a permit to burn waste oil! It's against the law. They only give the permits to power stations !
