Astra Mk2 , 3 and upcoming brahmos NG will greatly improve the weapon package of Tejas MK1 and MK2, not to mention that Su 30MKI and Rafale will be the beast of IAF and I hope the MK3 will be production ready in 3-4 years
Hopefully that doesn’t happen. We need 2 solid platforms, 3 is already overkill. Rafael was supposed to be a mirage replacement and mig replacement but because of 30MKI underperformance its now used as replacement of 30Mki so thats the high class. Low class fighters we have the LCA program. What gov needs to do is mass production and standardisation of 2-3 solid platforms to get the manufacturing know how

Su30 is still a MISSILE TRUCK, its not good in omni role or interception, but its great as a JAMMER AIRCRAFT (if we upgrade few batches of them, just like China has done with J16D), a great MISSILE TRUCK and a mini AWACS, even a mini bomber
so how the hell is Su 30 bad? after Super Sukhoi upgrade, 80% of the aircraft would be of Indian origin parts, the only things which would be Russian would be the engine and the design, and a few key technologies, thats it
Su 30 is an AIR SUPERIORITY fighter
Tejas is a point defence aircraft to be used in smaller radius, Tejas Mk2 is an almost medium weight fighter, Rafale is an omni role fighter, Su 30 is an air superiorty fighter, and AMCA would be a 5th gen stealth fighter
so each fighter jet has a different role
would you tell me now what shall we do? we cannot intex mix the roles of these aircrafts with one another

even USA has F16, F15, F35 and F22 arranged in similar manner as Tejas Mk1, Tejas Mk2, Rafale, Su 30 and AMCA
so what you are saying is pointless... you wanna mass produce Tejas Mk1 to fill in key roles such as that of Rafale? that is not possible... we need different types of aircrafts in a balance, sure there should be less fighter types, but it cannot be shrinked down anymore than what we are gonna do... Su 30 has already been brought, they are NOT going anywhere soon
Su 30 will be used till 2045 atleast and I am sure about that
@@lightyagami5483 read carefully what I said. 30MKI is underperforming in its role as a deep penetration strike platform which it was originally acquired for. We follow an air denial strategy unlike the US Air Domination. By low class it means usually single engine. High meaning double engine expensive (hammer) planes. This underperformance in that role is further proven as AF decided to use old mirages instead of the 30MKI for Surgical Strike , the exact job its exployed for. Im saying Rafael is replacing 30MKI which are both high class aircraft. A squadron has a higher ratio of low class with a couple hammers. So a squadron of LCA 1&2 mixed with mk30i, Rafael and AMCA whenever it comes will probably replace the old high class mirages and 30mki
Coming to the US platforms, they use same high low class formations still. F-16 as single engine and f-18. f-22, f-35 as heavy are replacements for the old combo. Imagine every the biggest military uses 2 platforms as it’s easier to mass produce at cheaper economies of scale as well as build up the technical know how.

Huge respect to DRDO they have such a low budget but still manages to do wonders. IDK how tf USA spends 800 billion dollar but still their missiles are comparable to our missiles
They are deployed all our the world . Plus they have the numbers and major chunk of their budget goes in sustaining the logistics chain all around the world.

@@Mikey14742 That's the reason why they work right at the frontiers in technology. DARPA is well known for it's reaserch in those pioneering field where no one is going so obviously they spend a lot and fail a lot . Similar was the case with Soviets . Our DRDO is still inventing the wheel hence we can claim all success for it but it hasn't prooved itself to given something revolutionary in military domain. Trial and error is the way though it lead to waste but you certainly comes to understand what doesn't work . So you lead ahead in your learning curve .
First check the air to air combat records of usa airforce then compare them with anyone in world. Don't blindy believe in youtubers

Eagerly waiting for Tejas, Sukhoi, Mig29s to get armed with AstraMK2, MK3, RudraM2, RudraM3 missiles.
This astra-mk 3 missiles would make our super sukhoi, mig-29upg, mig-29k, tejas-1a/2 more deadlier than rafales if France does not co-operate in integrating indian weapons on iaf rafales.

Chinese PL series missiles are the main threat for India from China and Pakistan both. Those missiles are long-range, very maneuverable and their accuracy is also good. To counter those missiles the Indian airforce needs an air to air missiles having a range of 350-400 km.

How fast these are converted from trials to production ready is the key. I get a feeling that the defence manufacturing PSUs are not gearing up for mass production at the same pace other than in the ship building area.

There is a limit to the range in which you can detect heat signatures. And if the new irst sensor which you are mentioning has a very high range, the missile can be guided through its 2 way data link

That would be about 120 km if we compare it to its counterparts. That high range is generally for heavier targets lite tanker cargo planes or awacs
