Yeah that''s what it reminds me of. I have been looking for a game like that for along time. I think you could sail with AI ships in your fleet also. I liked how you could go explore land ares and dungeons in that game too.

The Dutch weren't the biggest but they punched way above their weight. They also had of of the biggest trade fleets sailing around so they'd be one of the most common sightings.
I started recently and have avoided any hunters quite easily , found a wreck also . I don't understand the idea of the wipes , I like to keep what I spend my time getting.
My gpu started to deteriorate a few days before i stopped playing Naval Action, but now that I want to get back into it my gpu is not powerful enough anymore to run it which is a bummer. I hope i can get that sorted and play again soon
I mean, the game does not have a huge player base so fewer nations does make sense. Otherwise the nations with the smallest amount of players, would never have the chance to do clan battles and port battles. So fewer nations would definitely good for all players to have a chance to try these things out
There should be a key somewhere you can hold to look around. I had mine set to one of the side mouse buttons, so you might have to check your key bindings in settings.
Trying to get back into it, I played a lot back in 2016 or so and it was just a lot of pvp fun, now it's just empty worlds and safe zones everywhere, I don't get it.

I've just done my first passenger voyage and it struck me right when I started sailing in open world, that we're missing sound here. Having done the tutorial, with nice sound, it is so bad to join open world and hear only a bit of background sound. This is such a wasted opportunity, because we spend in open world so much time and the sound is really really good. Just copy and paste it to this mode. This is probably a deal breaker for me, unless we have some kind of mods that fix that?
Nice to get a real sailor's perspective. My knowledge is only academic, but you're definitely right that real ships would not be nearly so forgiving as they are in game.

I'm having problems with NA recently, I'm trying to enter the open world to transport passengers, however, the game asks to connect to the server, but there is no server, and every time I try to leave I end up losing everything and having to restart the game, could you help me solve it? I thank
That definitely sounds like a connection issue, but I'm not qualified in that sort of thing I'm afraid, and I've never had that problem myself. Best I can do is suggest you send a message on the discussion page on Steam, or else try to get on the Naval Action Official Discord to get the issue resolved.
Every player has access to the Basic Brig for free right from the start. This brig can be reclaimed for free no matter how many times you get sunk, and it does not require resources to repair. You also get a single Cerberus as a reward for finishing the tutorials. All other ships can be crafted or captured by anyone, except the DLCs ships which you buy with real money

this is your getting started video, i find it funny how dull down it has become, and easy... i was in there day 2 steam relase, no protractor, no guides, no noting... my getting started was little bit more amuzing than this generic NPC stuff

The Dutch had Around 2.7k ships in 1680s a bit before the time period of the game but still a lot for the time period

That's a shame, I had my older gaming PC due on me recently too. I lost a lot of saves from some of my older gaming series, which is a pity.

Why does my open world camera not move like that? I can only see the side of my ship and moving my cursor only moves my cursor, not my camera angle

how are you putting the travel line on the map?
If there's something more to do while voyaging will be more interesting . Some skill training etc
Did that take out the majority of the nations? I wanted to start an American chacter, but the option isn't available.
Sadly yes, there are only four nations that survived the switch to F2P.

I'm afraid I don't know about that, sorry. But what I do know is that PVE zones are supposedly coming to the Caribbean server sometime this month.
The peace server is great but not everyone can access it. There needs to be a global map full of every country around the world.

No the old servers are more or less dead now. And they're closed to people who did not get the game before it went free to play

Yes, all DLC ships should still be redeemable regardless of when they were acquired.
Had 700+ hours in the sim. Enjoyed it...but too many wipes so uninstalled. Developers are strange how they run this game.
