The Pianist is a masterpiece and Adrien Brody delivered an outstanding performance. No word is enough to describe his portrayal of the role of Szpilman in the film.

Roman Polanski was originally going to direct “Schindler’s list” but sold the script to his friend Steven Spielberg. he said he wasn’t ready to make a movie like that. Then almost a decade later, makes the pianist.
His performance, (and the movie) is a masterpiece. Very, very sad that things like this happened in real life. It's one of those movies that you'll never forget. Hopefully, we will learn one day

Oh wow, poor him. Getting rid of his material posessions, while knowing that a big fat paycheck and glory are waiting for him at the end of the shoot. Really puts him in the mindset of his character.

When you say "material possessions" I thought you were talking about his $4000+ watch (FACT! Yes it actually cost that much) that he traded for a weeks worth of food in the movie.
Losing one's valuable possessions on purpose and getting rid of them is not the key. A homeless person might look like austere but if he cannot give up his little box, he is still attached.

It’s the Oscar jinx. Happens all the time. Still, he had one, shining moment that few people get to experience and I’m sure he has no regrets.

Wow not only do they act. But they truly and deeply live the part so that the character is believe able without a question of a doubt.
