The KORG KPR-77 is a programmable analog rhythm box. Fill In, DIN sync, TRIG OUT jacks and other nice features. It competed with the Roland TR-606. It has a tape interface built in, so you could save your grooves on tape.
In the intro I played the Korg KPR-77 with a small amout of ambience from Lexicon MPX-500. - Наука та технологія
Really wish people would realize the KPR-77 is what Korg Volca Beats was an homage to, not the 808. The snare does exactly that it's supposed to.
Oh yeah, I've just realised that this does in fact sound most like the Volca Beats than any other analogue drum machine. Well spotted!
The snare on the KPR-77 sounds pretty good to my ears, where the Volca Beats almost sounds bit crushed. The Volca Beats may be striving to emulate the KPR-77, but it's not nearly as pleasant to myself.
Personally, I thought Beats was homage to the 606. The time and depth buttons are a copy of the 6 individual drum mixer, volume and tempo knobs, but doesn't sound as good, but I'll probably buy one to complete the Volca set (apart from the mixer which is awful).
I hear what you're saying, but the Beats snare is nowhere near this good.
@@ianmorton1799with compression and separate recorded it is very similar
Just scored one for $50 in excellent shape. Can't wait for it to get here! It was kind of a no-brainer at that price but I still listened to this video before pulling the trigger and it made me go from, "I've never seen one of those, but I'm sure that's a fantastic deal" to "Why am I wasting my time?! I've got to buy this now!!!"
Celestial Sound....GREAT
My favourite clap sound of any drum machine.
It’s pretty good yes. I prefer the Boss DR-110 or the Roland CR-8000.
listen to the claps on a Tama TS-306
Great drum machine! I have 2 of them. And 2 Korg KMS-30 to synchronize it via DIN sync at 48 PPQN.
Nice when synced to the Super Percussion and/or Super Drums. Best of all worlds
After 10 years of being a gear junkie, why am I just hearing about this amazing machine? Sounds great, and those claps sound more jeff mills than jeff mills' 909. Would love to hear a bass line under this
Love ❤️ the Hi-Hats 👍🏻
My friend lent me one in the 80s and I really didn't want to give the machine back. I ended up with a 606 but wanted a 77 instead tbh.
Love those hats.
Good job!
Thanks!
Take my bacon! I’m taking her home!! :D
クラップとスネアの音以外はまるでDR110のような音ですね
Mine has super worn buttons. That makes it frustrating to program. But overall I like it a lot. Especially paired with the Arpeggio of the PolySix.
an easy if time consuming fix for a tech
Din sync!
That's neat.
It does sound like an older machine for it's era. It must be the limitations of the circuitry.
I like how rough it can sound at parts. The cymbals are the machines strongest parts. I could use a few of those drum samples for something.... It's a neat drum machine.
Has anyone the tape factory presets as an audio file ?
May I sample to my PO-33?! 🙏
If only they took the sound board of the KR-55 and added the programmer...
The 55 sounds so much better
Indeed, it sounds similar, I also like the KR-55 better, although not programmable...
It sounds very very cheap, and nice!
If it had Roland on the front panel, it would cost about £1000!

@@lowlink534 I know. The early music tech magazine reviewers felt it to be superior to the 808! What we know now is somewhat divided. The KPR-77 is more a TR606 on steroids ha ha. The fluffy kick needs some desk work but otherwise, a masterpiece from Korg. The operating system is a dog to learn at first but, it's such fun to play, especially with the Tom flams and trigger outs. Nice onboard mixer too. The 24 steps per bar offer up some lovely jazzy possibilities. The battery and tape storage is a pain but, I found a guy that does full Midi mods. The only problem is, we lose the battery compartment! Well worth having though. Lovely machine
Drexciya drum machine
The sound reminds me a lot of the Boss Dr.110, does anyone else think so?
yes and no . it reminds me more one the kr55 but you have a point it was a bit in the same market segment .
Yes, it has that typical Korg signature sound. Especially the snare.
Не совсем понятно почему собственно аналоговая?
Все справочники пишут так, но про цимбалы у меня тоже сомнения закрались. Остальное аналог.
I hate the flam on the toms and BD is useless but dem Korg hats man. Almost as good as the KR-55 hats. Snare of KR-55 is better too. KPR-77 has 2 trigger outs on the rubbish toms so they are useful but let’s be honest it’s a right tosspot to programme. Then there’s the double note entries. It is reliable though.
He finally ran out of instruments
That sounds so thin and tinny. Yuk
