@@trivenisharma6654 anything is better than Bollywood and Indian Television, this series however focussed more on harem of Suleyman than his wars and achievements and strategies so it was an average show for me, I was praising the actors , they all performed so well

Cihangir's Story always reminds me of the one of Ivar the Boneless from Vikings . If he just would have been more encouraged and motivated he could've been a Warrior or even a King / Sultan . Ivar made a Statement in the History Books even with his Disabilities .

Sahuban’s audacity to put down Hurrem about Bayezid as if she “cares” about his well-being when she put his life in jeopardy few episodes ago by setting that trap for Hurrem is so ridiculous. Bayezid and Cihangir could have been executed because of Sahuban’s little game to “teach” Hurrem a lesson. Sah’s fans are imbeciles.
Cihangir was the best fit for the throne alas his destiny was shortened.
No, he was a perfect fit to be an advisor. He was not military oriented which was what any medieval ruler had to be.

@20PINKluvr he was grief stricken after the death of Mustapha, who he had been very close to. He stopped eating, wouldn't allow the doctors to treat his pain, he just gave up.

Bayezid got angry easily, Selim got jealous easily. They both had two very bad qualities. The difference is that Selim knew deep inside they all preferred bayezid over him so i understand his jealousy. Mihrimah defended bayezid, Hurrems focus was on bayezid and everyone complimented bayezid skills. So in my opinion selims jealousy had grounds. Bayezids anger though has no grounds, so he was never fit to be sultan. Mehmet was perfect to be sultan but he died. I know no one agrees but Selim would have been a close perfect as a sultan if everyone didn't feed his insecurities to the point that he became an alcoholic.
What? Everyone around is to blame that Selim was an alcoholic? Nope it is his responsibility that he chose to find comfort in alcohol.
On the opposite, Bayezid was continuously offended by Selim and Selim got away with it because adults didn't see his pranks but Bayezid's anger instead and forced him to apologise all the time just because he was younger so he should give way to the "big brother" just one year older. Poor Bayezid, so unfortunate to his sad end.
If Mahidevran (In the series) hadn't killed Mehmet, everyone would have a much better ending. Mehmet would've been the best option for Sultan. As you mentioned Selim got jealous easily, Bayezid got angry easily. Cihanger was disabled. Mustafa, as the first prince should've been the best option, but her mother would have never let Hurrem and her children live. And Mustafa, always believing her mother, would have probably killed Hurrem at least even if he lets the other brothers go (I doubt it because he knew his mother killed Mehmet but still didn't go against her) Whereas, Mehmet would have let all his siblings live. Hurrem's sons don't hate Mahidevran to death cuz Hurrem didn't involve them in her battles (unlike Mahi). This can be seen from when Bayezid wanted to help Mahi survive after Mustafa's death and Suleiman took away her wealth. Selim also let Mahidevran live in wealth after he began his rule. Selim and Bayezid would also be ok if Mehmet became the Sultan. So Mehmet would've been the best choice, with all siblings living well. Well Mahidevran might be bitter about it but it's definitely better than her son dying.

Even if Mustafa wanted to leave Cihangir, Mahidevran wouldn’t allow that. Mustafa would have definitely executed Hurrem, he was too much of a momma’s boy and blindly followed her hatred towards Hurrem and acted according to it.
The same thing would've happened if bayezid or selim ascended the throne they wouldv killed the rest of the brothers . Cihangir was smart enough to pick the most competent and worthy, which is mustafa .
Selim and bayazid would've done the same but it's only okay when Hürrem does it right?
Actually under Mustafa's rule, even Cihangir wouldn't have been safe.

@@xianxiannn I highly doubt either Selim or Bayezid would've had Cihangir executed since, to them, he was absolutely not a threat. He only was to Mustafa, who would've needed to eliminate even the unlikeliest of competitors to secure the throne.

@@bruhno1545 It gets shown like this because, in the Ottoman Empire, that's how it was done. Back then, it was seen as a milestone towards completing adulthood and for the princes it was celebrated with feasts and the lick, which is how we know when each happened. For example, 1530 was the circumcision feast of Mustafa (15), Mehmed (9), and Selim (6).
