Totally agree you gotta get the kids on board if you want something to survive.
Totally agree, Cooper. I take my kids with me on my game, DVD, and CD hunts and I teach them why I prefer physical media, and I never buy digital.
I’m 17 I’ve been collecting video games for years. My biggest collection is Atari which even older people won’t touch. I’ve been collecting since I was 12 and I have a lot of friends that do it too, to a lesser extent. Thanks for acknowledging that we aren’t all Fortnite micro transaction gremlins!
I'm 19 and I am an avid collector ranging from DVDs all the way to VHS Tapes at least I know I am not the only one collecting physical media.
Physical Media is so important
For what it's worth, you and the Double Jump channel 100% converted me to physical. I used to always opt for digital for the convenience sake, but all the benefits of physical that you mentioned in this video vastly outweigh any potential convenience imo
Physical media needs to stay, if we let it go, we lose everything!
100% agree Cooper I collect physical movies on blu ray and vinyl and if I can EVER support smaller artists in that way I do.
I'm 14, 15 next month. I stumbled upon your channel (DJVG) a year ago and I love it. I'm now collecting phisical games (mostly ps4) with friends.
Crazy that even iTunes doesn't give you actual files
iTunes sucks!! 🗑️👎
Yep a few times they’ve even removed access to music that I’ve added from a CD rip
“Sell me this movie”
“Come over and show me the movie”
“I don’t have the movie”
I like streaming and all, but nothing beats owning a physical copy. I mostly get Blu-rays and DVDs. Even if what I'm looking for is on a streaming service, I always go into it with the mindset of "It's not guaranteed to be on there forever." I read manga a bit too, and I just can't read them on a screen. I need to have the physical book in my hands.
Great video Cooper. Another point is with physical, you get the case and the artwork. Also being able to show your collection to someone visiting or bring the game to a friend’s house is a completely different feeling than pressing a button to scroll through a digital library.
If you can’t touch it, you don’t own it 👍
We also need to stop supporting live service games and always online DRM games.
This is a BIG one. Thank you for bringing it up!
Had my 1st piece of digital media stolen from me about 4-5yrs ago. It was the X-Men arcade port, stolen right off my X-Box.
I’ve been offering memberships physical media but nobody really signs up. 😂
Digital Archives are important hundreds of digital exclusive games and content not available on streaming services anymore are lost forever. Reminds me of a UA-camr who archived the entire 3DS digital library before it closed down
Agreed. 100%. On top of what you said, I like owning my games/movies/books/CDs because I may want to play said items again in 20, 25 years, & owning several consoles (retro/new), & a couple thousand games, I find myself re-playin' several games I haven't played in 15 + years. & many of them aren't even on digital storefronts --- Summoner 1 & 2, Shadow Hearts 1 & 2, & many more. & that's not even mentioning the ones they take down on a whim (P.T., etc). Good message.
The problem with gaming nowadays isn't disappearance of physical media in gaming or the lack of interest of physical collecting from younger gamers; the issue is the lack of consumer rights and ownership regardless of format whether it be physical or digital. Yes, access to digital media can be revoked at any time, but companies have tried to limited or restrict access to your physical games as well. Both Sony and Microsoft originally designed their 8th gen consoles with online dependencies which would prevent a console from playing any game, physical or digital. The infamous PS4 CBomb/Cmos Bomb if you don't remember. Recently, Ubisoft implemented an online activation checks for physical copys of three of their titles, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, and Star Wars Outlaws. The best way to preserve our beloved games is to insure that we have rights as the consumers of media. We should not let companies dictate how we consume media after purchase.
I agree 100%. We gotta figure out a way to save physical media!
As someone from a younger generation myself I just wanted to say that I love collecting physical games and that I have been collecting for about 4 years and it’s been great journey discovering all these different consoles and all the different games for the first time and getting to own them across all these different carts and discs.
Physical Media is very important to the future of gaming and this is a topic and a soap box that I easily could jump on. What I hate is the "game entitlement" disc or Switch Card that allows you to download the content because it isn't on the physical media. In the future when these company's storefronts close or we lose the entitlements for the game downloads we are stuck with a worthless case and disc. This is a subject that is avoided by many but it is a common practice of game companies. I would be really interested in seeing a video discussing this issue. Nintendo hasn't done this with 1st party games yet but it is commonly seen with third party games, especially the compilation game packs where you can't fit all the games on the Switch game card. You usually flip to the back cover and you see that a memory card and internet access is required to download the game. Most younger gamers don't realize this when they purchase the game...I like to call this the "Bait & Switch" game and I think this is a horrible retail practice. The old way was to have a large digital download banner on the front top of the case. The new way is to include a physical game disc or card with the entitlement being on the media and just a small blue box on the front bottom of the case with a notice of memory card size required on the back.
Now on the other side of the coin! Digital Downloadable games have their place as well! Take Geometry Wars for an example. That game would have never have had a physical release without its huge following on the digital download side of its life. Donut Dodo! Digital pinball tables have a very niche fanbase and their physical media is rare and hard to find in stores so a digital presence brings many tables that would never see the light of day in a retail store. Digital media gives life to the indie developer that could never afford to get their games to market. Digital media is convenient and a space saver but what I do not like about it is that there is no OWNERSHIP of PROPERTY when you purchase them. I have had games "disappear" from my digital library from time to time and this ticks me off. Talking big AAA titles.
Remember when Microsoft was rolling out the Xbox One and you were required to be "always online" to play your games? There was a big stink about this at the time and many gamers were jumping from MS to Sony camps at the time and the consoles weren't even released yet! It was such a big stink too that it caused Microsoft to change their stance on the decision. Years later with all of these gaming companies we have become the "Frog In The Kettle" and now some of our media requires us to be always online to play. When I buy a game I want ownership of the property that I have purchased and not an entitlement. If my internet goes down I want to be able to pop in a game and play it without ownership online verification. I understand that this is their way of preventing piracy but it is also their way of just being lazy. Piracy prevention was always done on the hardware side in their consoles and in the physical media. There will always be piracy. There is an old saying that locks just keep honest crooks out and this applies to piracy as well.
I have asked some fellow UA-camrs that have video game channels about this topic at game conventions in the past and I have heard a similar answer by all. This is the future of gaming. It is a very politically correct answer but skirts the topic. I think, we as a gaming community, need to take a stance on physical media collecting and personal ownership of what we purchase. I would like to see more bricks and mortar and online stores be held more accountable on being up front with their labeling of the games. Too many times I have purchased a game thinking it was physical only to find out their photos and descriptions were doctored up leaving this little detail out. SMH! Sorry about this long post. Just passionate about this subject.
This topic comes up often on forums and people that are pro-digital will often fight against people protesting in favour of physical media. When you compare the positives and the negatives of physical vs digital together physical clearly wins and this will only become a bigger lead in the future when digital no longer has to compete with physical on price / consumer rights. The only real positives of digital is: no physical space required, available instantly.
As a 44 year old gamer, you are preaching to the choir my friend. ;)
The flashing red lights 😂
i bought my daughter many of the sims 4 add on packs through origin years ago, when origin changed to EA app i lost all the add on purchases
music can be bought online and downloaded, bandcamp, beatport and more
41 year old videogame player and collector here. I have been collecting modern and retro games since middle school, and I only buy and play games physically.
I still buy physical of all my movies & games & music .
Wise words! I have seen this happen in game pass where one good game was taken out and I was not able to play it after that. Same thing with videos. I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer series and then it was taken out. Fortunately, I have the most Buffy the Vampire Slayer series videos as physical DVD. I just like team spirit in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There is something in that series that you do not see in other series anymore...
I understand why people just get didgital copies of things but I’ve always loved collecting so it’s got to be physical
digital...i missing the manuals and the nice box arts
I prefer physical media.
I couldn’t agree more with you!
Elaborate or sit down
Same buddy 😌
I pwe-fuh physi-kew media
So why do you can resell them to make money out of gamers on ebay how much do you want for Godzilla PS4 $300 now how much is street fighter third stride on Dreamcast $399 how much is super Mario 3D world Nintendo Switch $5,000 that’s no thanks with digital everyone buys them for retail price
Hey Coop you still do music? I remember seeing you live in Brooklyn years ago. Recently just discovered your channels. And I was like this dude looks familiar lol
I dont get why anyone would want digital media only anyway. I love seeing all my games on the shelf, beings back all kinds of memories. When people come over and see my collection they also get that nostalgia!
Digital is for the casual person who will dabble in things and move on due to lack of interest.
@@missingno81 Not necessarily true. PC gaming is huge and is strictly digital. While I like collecting physical games for my retro consoles my preferred way to game is on PC, and I would hardly call myself a casual gamer.
@@TheAirDead i was referring to console gaming.
There’s so much I can say on this topic: You can’t resell your digital games, you need to make sure you have enough space on your device/expandable storage for the game(s), licenses can be revoked as you don’t actually own these digital purchases, there’s no fun collecting aspect, you can’t share media like you can just handing someone a physical game, digital games often require a authentication check here and there and if you’re on a trip away from internet and it requires a check at that time you may be unable to play that game until connecting to the internet, and I’m sure plenty more reasons. Don’t get me wrong there are some benefits to digital media that Cooler touched on, but overall I would love to see physical media stick around as long as possible and I love whenever I see people in newer generations who choose physical over digital.
I actually got back into collecting a few years back because I was trying to listen to this song on Spotify but it was grayed out and unavailable. Apparently there was some record label dispute. Since then I have been back on the physical train for all media. I dont like being beholden to the corpos.
Do you think collecting PS4 is better then collecting PS5 long term? I would assume the percentage of games being playable without a internet connection or having to download the entire game to be playable is higher for ps4 games then ps5 games. So like a game came out for the ps4 and now its being remastered for the ps5. In 30 years which one will still be playable on the original console. I know its case by case basis but its tough to check every game.
It's a losing battle, and it's been one for years... Oh well, at least I grew up when physical media was still a thing!
i dont care about this topic i love to watch cooper talk
I think some form of cartridge will be the "vinyl" of video games in the future. I've never really liked optical media and have always preferred cartridges. Nice packaging and manuals will be a part of it too. I think one of the main reasons vinyl is so appealing is because of the big sleeve that allows for large beautiful album art, lyrics, inserts, etc. I think the video game physical future will have similar (hopefully large-ish) cases, artwork and inserts. I like to collect, but I understand if people don't because they're minimalists or just trying to slim down their possessions. I look forward to a future where beautiful physical media exists alongside digital-only ownership AND digital-only subscription services. I think there's room for and a need for all of the above.
The only thing that I download digital is music - I really like Music CDs but most stores like Walmart, Target, Best Buy don’t carry music CDs or have a very little selection. So I only download music here and there…. Most artists don’t even release a physical music CDs…. But for Video Games I have to have physical media 😊😊😊😊😊
Great discussion topic, long live physical!
Your collection is amazing! Subscribed!
I have a significant DVD/Blu-Ray/4k collection and I've been building it since about 1998 when I got my first DVD player. I also have a decent CD and vinyl collection and EVERY Switch game I have is physical.
I have "bought" some digital content, and some if it is no longer available. That DVD of Re-Animator that I bought 20 years ago is still readily accessible and I can watch it whenever and however I want. That's why I've stuck with a physical collection for as long as I have and I won't turn my back any time soon.
Nice 4k is the way to go with movies I love watching Blu-ray movies! It’s far better than digital!
@@thenameugaveme1540 Yeah! The quality is way better and honestly, I don't like having to find out which streaming platform X movie is on... I can just grab it off the shelf. I'm also not a fan of things getting edited. Music being changed, parts being CGI'd or completely edited out...
The younger generation does not realize that digital media is the beginning of video games, because they will have no real ownership of this digital media.
beginning of video games? - Surely you mean 'the end of video games' as your version makes no sense.
@@SecretOfMonkeyIsland784yeah, OPs comment made nonsense
Well said.
Downloading games online people should pay for the authentic copy of the actual video game and be fair enough to be in excellent condition and good condition games also.
Completely agree. I do not buy digital. I have a little in the past but i will no longer and havent for a while buy digital. I love my physical games.
I love digital, it's convenient for me, but I understand is not for everyone
Man I get so many digital games I feel like a sell out lol
I went all digital with ps4 and back to physical with ps5. I regret going digital with ps4. I would have tons of games on my shelves.
I love physical media I collected wii games switch games vinyls cds tape cassettes 8 tracks
Yet people want to collect physical media now more than ever.
Especially VHS, Vinyl and retro games. People are even collecting DVDs again because of thrift store/ yard sale videos. Even comics. Most people still prefer reading and collecting the physical book vs zooming and scrolling through the story on a screen.
You’re not wrong tho. There’s a reason why local used book/media stores shut down to make room for Papa Johns and other bs. There’s a reason why theaters are shutting down literally rn or have to rely on splitting the cinema space with a tacky restaurant/bar option.
The situation is pretty lame but like a wise man once said...”way she goes, boys....way she goes....”
The corporation will always win and digital media will be the future at this point. The best thing that can happen now is added protection for consumers in regards to digital purchases.
Physical forever! We just have to prove that the market for physical is still too big to ignore. Alan Wake 2 was a good sign. Hopefully, these companies will reconsider the idea that they will make more digital only. Also, nice At the Gates shirt. They are S tier metal.
Well spoken Coop
I prefer physical myself but I thought with more and more new physical games that the whole game is not even on the disc/cartridge? I thought basically the physical media is being used essentially as a key to go out to the internet and be able to download the majority of the game files? If that’s the case what happens when these servers that store these game files get taken offline? Are we supposed to use our physical media to go out and get all the files downloaded and then never be able to delete the game off our hard drive for fear of never being able to get them back?
As far as I understand the discs still hold all the data the consoles just downloads it because you get faster load times with the ssd then an optical drive. Case in point I can play all my ps4 games even when I have the internet turned off on the console.
Playing games straight from the disc hasn't truly happened since the early 360 era. So buying a disc hasn't meant you owned the item for 15+ years now.
99% of my Switch collection is played right off the cart with no download needed.
@@SicCooperOfficial that’s nice even though I doubt 99% didn’t require a download. Considering most of the major releases from Nintendo (ie tears of the kingdom all the new Pokemon games, animal crossing, Luigi’s mansion 3 etc all required day 1 patches. And almost every 3rd party requires a download.
So my point still stands, physical hasn’t been physical for a long time.
what is the name of the distributor that closed down?
Ingram
Fucking rights it is!
The problem with getting youth into it, is they aren't really into traditional gaming as it is. They are all on Fortnite, Roblox, GTA Online, or some other microtransaction heavy free to play game.
I’m 17 and have been collecting Atari for years we’re not all like that
@@dangerd.5960yeah but generally speaking most are. The exception doesn’t make the rule. But good on you.
Don't only do your part by buying physical, but talk to others about the benefits.
Physical media had an Resurrection in music with vinyl. I hope that Nintendo will stay with physical media. If anyone will at all it will be them
Correction vinyl never went away and has been the #1 selling firm of physical media for quite sometime. It’s in the consumer to take a stance and buy physical media.
the problem with music is nowadays the album is released digital only with no physical release
My favorite rapper K-Rino still releases music on CD. You can find his music on the usual digital platforms but he always releases physical copies. Sometimes even on vinyl.
Well dude Xbox 360 store is closing I am not going to pay scalpers money for a physical copy a game that costs $19.99 now is going $2.99 clearance I rather pay $3.00 then pay a scalper $200 for that game once no more scalpers I’ll buy the physical but right now isn’t the right time to say you won’t buy digital games if you can’t buy them physical at regular price selling games for over a thousand dollars makes no sense unless your selling multiple games in 1 like arcade 1 up is doing I love arcade 1 up bringing the classic games I’ll pay them $600 but for console games I’ll never pay over a hundred dollars if physical goes away I’ll only buy what I like playing since I can’t try them before buying them just like final fantasy 7 for PS5 it’s costing on ebay $150-$300 am I really going to pay someone that high or buy the digital at a cheaper price
I agree buy the new stuff games go onsale
Scalping doesn't mean what you think it does. Also, if you wanted the physical game for $3, you should have purchased it before the store closed, and the physical price went up. Of course it will be more expensive after that happens, but if you are just buying based off the trend and the hype, you will have to pay up for it. Prices always come back down after a spike due to a store closure, so just wait it out. Its not like you are dying to play one of these expensive games, otherwise you would have purchased it before it got super pricey.
@@SicCooperOfficialdigital is here to save the day from the scalpers If we the gamers miss out on the physical we gamers at least don’t have to pay any scalpers or any stores $1000 for a physical copy of any game the only way I’ll agree to pay that high is if I was buying the Pac-Man pixel arcade machine so unless the games are arcade machines pool tables that have been costing thousand dollars all it’s life digital is here to save everyone and digital is here to stay if physical dies that’s not going to harm gamers it’s going to harm scalpers and resellers I don’t mind since the scalpers are getting into in our business
Scalpers are nothing but a pain in the ass that buy the games movies shoes then go try to resell them for higher then they cost everyone knows what scalpers are there are stores that are doing what scalpers are doing which makes them a scalper also when physical goes away it will be the death of scalpers they won’t have much to sell I’ll be so happy I’ll celebrate what’s more rare is when a digital gets delisted not when a physical no longer gets sold in stores cause scalpers are trying to sell them on ebay so how’s that rare
@@SicCooperOfficialwe all know you have a store you want to make money the problem you have is you can’t buy them from the publishers such as square enix capcom sega Nintendo get get them for a cheaper price $10 each then sell them for $70 like GameStop Best Buy Walmart all you sell is used games once GameStop stops selling new releases I won’t be buying from them again old games isn’t worth a lot of money
just comes down to age groups,my younger relatives have no interest in retro or even that much in current physical games.
My older relatives have no love for the Atari games I collect and I’m 17!
@@dangerd.5960 that is very rare.
I blame Apple and iTunes for this trend. If Apple never made iTunes, I do not think digital would be as popular in music and gaming.
Crazy how all the new Xbox’s are digital only. They’re killing whole industries. The companies that make the boxes, disc, inserts, all the way to game stores. If you don’t sell retro you won’t have anything to sell. It’s absolutely wild.
Its called technology… ask the vhs, stand alone gps, pagers etc. Things have to die so we can advance.
You have a nice retro video game store 👍 👌 🙂
I prefer physical media also
I agree that physical media should stay and that newer generations should understand the importance of it, but the least thing we need right now is another huge group of people entering the collecting hobby. It's hell already, and it would make the supply/demand bs even worse honestly. Pretty sure you would not have made a video like this if you weren't as far as you are now in your collecting journey. Prices are already bad, they don't need to get worse.
I don't collect because of low or high prices, I collect because I love it, so more people in the hobby is always a positive for me.
@@SicCooperOfficial Me neither, I love collecting the games I want, but there's a big possibility it'll make stuff worse.
I remember trying to play a game on my Xbox One, and it wouldn’t let me play the dang game unless I was connected to the internet. I just wanted to play the story, and I had a physical copy. 😂
I love and perfer physical media.
I recently played my physical import copy of Magical Drop VI, and wanted to play the earlier games, when I checked Magical Drop V on steam which is the only version of it that I could find, it said the game ran on windows XP, 7 and 8. But as of 2024 the steam client only supports windows 10 and newer. I am very displeased that I will most likely never be able to play that game.
Digital only media is the worst thing to happen to gaming. I steadfastly refuse to buy ethereal, non physical games. We all want to return to old games that we once loved when nostalgia inevitably kicks in for each and every one of us.
Digital only has almost destroyed the music industry and I do hope that the current uptick in people buying physical music on vinyl continues to grow.
The power in this is in all of our hands, the game publishers need and want our money. We, the consumers have all of the power if only we can all understand this and refuse to buy digital only.
Physical is being scalped not interested in buying from scalpers your store for example you charge $1,000 for a sega Saturn game hopefully these games will come digital and we gamers can buy them at a cheap price I think your worried you can’t overprice video games is what your worried about you can’t do that to digital and digital is more rare then physical can you buy the super Mario all stars digital for Nintendo switch anymore the answer is no but you can still buy the physical that’s how rare digital is then physical
That $1000 saturn game is available on PS4 and Switch for like $30, so go buy it for cheap if you really want to play it, but that wont change the value of the saturn version. You do not understand what a scalper is. Nobody can scalp a saturn game since they are all decades out of print. Only currently available items can be scalped, like PS5 consoles were. Lastly, you are simply plain wrong. You make wrong assumptions about me and my intentions, you don't understand the words you are using, and no digital file is rare like you say. Mario 3D All-Stars can still be bought physically, but not from any retail store, only 2nd hand now, so you are literally proving my point. You can't download Mario 3D All-Stars anymore because Nintendo took it away for no reason, but you can buy and play a physical copy forever.
@@SicCooperOfficial I own 2 copies of it on the Saturn I’m making fun of all you resellers for just asking for thousand dollars for it when it’s not an arcade machine ever heard of arcade machines made by Midway Bally who made Pac-Man mortal kombat that you put money in now there is a new Pac-Man made by Namco called Pac-Man pixel or a Pac-Man the largest Pac-Man in the world that goes for $12,000 go search it isn’t hard but for a video game I bought for $60 then bought it used for $14 only kids will pay that high for an old game
digital sucks sometimes the signal is weak and can'rt play games physical media is better no no retro is better
Don't forget more people loose jobs to.if digital take place
Did you stop the video half way through? lol
Next Playstation and Xbox will likely be only digital 🙁
I'm only buying physical media video game
I agree, Cooper! They got rid of it at Best Buy! I prefer physical media; the streaming is only as good as the wifi is, and 4K Blu-ray is way better quality.
Its interesting what happened to Alan Wake 2. With disappointing sales when released digital only. Now getting a physical release. I will get it now
I buy all my games digital these days I just use the physical for renting if a game doesn’t hit game pass or plus extra digital is yours I never lost one digital game from Nintendo Wii or Wii U 3DS since those stores closed
CD's would not be ideal though as we all know disc rot does happen over time. Also remember that we never truly own any game,movie,music,nothing..AS IN we cant just do whatever we want with it. There are still limitations. Physical media is a love hate thing with me..I personally enjoy all the digital media.
Im all about the physical, but i thnk CDs over 20 years old start to deteriorate.
❤😊😊😊
The new generation is lazy so they will tend to go digital for convenience
It’s not that serious just games. Plastic. If the devs don’t want to preserve their work why should I? If I don’t have access to a game I’m not gonna lose sleep. I sold most of collection n now just play emulation never looked back.
I agree with you on the most part and you're into more because if it went digital you're out of business.. why I'm moving to digital is basically because of space.. and a ton of people I know is for the same reason
If you have space to spare and understand then negatives of digital then it’s baffling to me why anyone would switch. If people literally don’t have space then I understand.
@@RetrophoriaI'm downsizing my house so this is why for me and others I know it's expensive in so cal lol
1. I wonder how this will all turn out 30 years from now...
2. Please don't touch my steam library.. i might want to finish my backlog when im 70 lol
Ps: Obey your robot AI overlords 🤖
Physical is dangerous it can be stolen or be stepped on or cracked depending how great you are in taking care of them I have the Xbox 360 console it opens then some times doesn’t want to open so I like digital more I think of digital is safer
It's not under attack it's just the progression of technology and society. Everything is going digital why would games be any different?
No attack at all this is the progression of the world look where we went what 8 track vinyl records cassette tapes then cds all gone now why is video games any different I really think it is alot of people have these games stored away in hopes to flip flip flip down the road half of the people don't even play the games I know you got a business to run but I think there is no attack it's just nature look at the dinosaurs gone and now there's us it's the same thing these huge collections worth thousands of dollars in people's house just waiting for the day to cash in and overprice and gouge people who thinks these games are worth so much money if this game craze wasn't worth anything then no one would even care about physical or digital media they would just want to play or not play that's why when we were kids we threw the boxes away traded games with ease sold them at yardsales with no hesitation but now that there is alot of money involved then it's a issue love the show no offense just my point of view
Games are different though, most songs you can listen too for free on many platforms so people were more willing to let go of physical music. Video games on the other hand are 70$ even when digital. Having that purchase taken away from you or altered in some way definitely is a problem that is already happening look at crew by Ubisoft. There definitely is a bigger argument for physical games compared to physical music because the way we consume these two mediums is very different.
Natural progression can also be an attack. It doesn't have to be one or the other, and you say nobody would care if the games were cheap? I highly disagree. You see people collecting all sorts of physical media that is near worthless. I collect partially because I was one of those kids / families that traded in my games to Game Crazy, and always got different games, and I wish I hadn't, but my family couldn't afford to get new games without getting rid of the older ones. That sucks, and now as an adult, I really wish I still had my childhood games. I don't care if the games were expensive or not.
@@SicCooperOfficial I’m not saying people wouldn’t care if the games were cheap I’m just saying most people don’t pay for music anymore they listen for free on UA-cam Spotify pandora. But people still pay 70$ for new games so obviously they are going to care more about protecting that purchase with physical media.
