Thanks for the tips! Months ago I made Link's Soldier Shield from BOTW and it turned alright but not what I was expecting. I didn't know you could mix Mod Podge with acrylic paint otherwise that would've saved me a lot of time. Live and learn. Thanks for your posts and tutorials!

what color of blue is that?

To retain the “metal” striking bowl’s shape. I would have layered scrap foam pieces to fill the bowl before I put it on the shield.
    Anyway awesome shield build!!!

The build is a little crude but the finished shield looks pretty good. If you add just a little dark blue to your silver it will cover better, be a little less shiney and look more like iron or steel. I will be interested to hear how well it stands up to larp combat?

Nice shield! Maybe make an ax to go with or a Wizard staff would be awesome too! Best wishes!!!

Thanks! I've actually got an axe almost done but I didn't have the sense to film myself making it.

what are you doing at 3:50 to close that gap between the boss and the shield base?

It's just contact cement. I'm using a random thing I had on the bench to reach under and push out a bit of a wrinkle in the boss.

Plasti-Dip is a GREAT seal for foam props.

I might have slightly distressed that with a fine sandpaper to make it look more like wood. Your detailing is great though.

Yeah, I'm not super proud of this but it's not bad for just a few hours.

Absolutely I could not have cranked that out in two hours LOL. It’s beautiful work.

    Are wooden shields legal?

In my local Live Action Role Playing Game, no. If you LARP, check the rules of your local game as they vary from game to game. However, I have yet to find a LARP that's cool with wooden shields.

I commented on this video a year ago, but did not leave a link for how I make my ones.

Pretty similar techniques, just a little bit more rugged.
