WTW, a "really fun video" indeed. The funnest part of shooting an accurate 22lr rifle, for me at least. Is shooting 100 -200 rds, spending a couple hours at the range, not feeling guilty about the expense and not feeling beat up by recoil. I've built 2 Ruger 10/22 rifles, the great thing about the 10/22 platform is the incredible varity of quality parts available and anybody can shoot and shoot well. No shooter's collection is complete without one, even if bone stock.
I shoot the CCI stuff always and have loved it. We have some good competitions at 130 yards shooting steel. We have enjoyed about 3000 rounds through a Rossi
You should check out the Kidd auto bolt release and Kidd bolt buffer. I think i got both of them for 20 bucks a few years back. The bolt release is nice and the buffer would quiet the action down, perfect for your suppresed build.
Great Video! Isn't it weird how the cheapest stuff fires the best. I bought the Golden Bullet at Academy for 7.7 cents a bullet (We are in July of 2023, for those of you in the future) and I bought the 500 box of Aguila for 8 cents a bullet. However most .22 rounds are pretty cheap. So I buy a bit of this and a bit of that when I get .22 ammo.
CCI standard velocity are sub sonic. Winchester subsonic max 42gr are 1065fps. They also have a massive hollow point. When you shoot pests with them the bullet making contact with soft targets is way louder than the shot itself if your using a suppressor.
Great video! I have found fouling the barrel with a certain brand of 22 and then shooting groups will really help with a true accuracy test. It is expensive though and I know the way ammo is now days makes it hard. I found shooting 15 rounds then shooting groups really helped when changing ammo. If you don’t have a lot of one brand it makes it tough and it stinks using half a box of 50 for fouling! Love the channel! Glad I stocked up on 22 ammo before all this craziness happened! Now you got me wanting to build a 10/22 for gopher shooting here in Montana but I have a very accurate ruger precision in 22 that takes 10/22 mags. Just have to convince the wife to let me build a 10/22 now cause when we shoot gophers I spend more time loading mags for her while she shoots and I watch. Gotta love the 22 lr!
So much fun shooting 10/22's. One of my personal favorites of your vlogs, you do your testing and reviews on rifles, scopes, rests, ammo and other bing bang items on those which we can actually purchase in a store currently. Not seeing special load, or custom match or something that's over the top in price or so hard to get. Keep it coming!!! Bravo!!!!!!!
Over the years, I've found that you can't really switch ammo and gauge accuracy until the barrel and ammo "season" . Each mcg uses unique lubrication that changes the behavior of the round. That's why your second groups were generally better. Try five, or even ten shot first strings, then a second "for effect".
I found some Remington Yellow jackets the other day, which are quire rare up here in Canada these days. Wicked .22 round for varmints. If you can find them down in your neck of the woods, I'm willing to pay for some so you can shoot them on video. In my opinion, they are such an underrated classic.
Well Remington went bankrupt and sold off the ammunition side, it’s owned by the same company that owns Federal now. Some things may come back as they get caught up in orders of the most popular selections but all we can do is wait and see.
@@jaydunbar7538 I hear ya. I was shocked when I found a brick of old stock Remington yellowjackets at a shop only 40 minutes from where I live. I payed 10X what I remember last paying for a brick of them back in the early 90's lol. Aside from their performance, I've always liked how they packed 50 rounds into those little cardboard boxes which made for the smallest bricks as well. If there was only a way I could get a couple of boxes over the border to him, I would. It would be neat to see an old stock vs new stock comparison for starters. One day perhaps...
CCI Standard velocity are in fact, subsonic, anything below 1150 ft per second is below the speed of sound on the average. the standard velocity ammo, below the speed of sound will give better groups, if the rim thickness is checked and the rims are matched together for groups. I have shot many groups of admirable size, and the best I have shot has been .214 for 5 shots at 50 yards
Nice rig and I like the test. My stock 10/22 seems to really like those same Aguila rounds. I need to do a test like this for mine and see what happens.
I'm surprised we didn't see the Federal white box Target Match ammo, piles of it at my Walmart. It shoots best in my semi-auto guns. CCI Standard Velocity does best in my bolty. SK ammo is amazing in all my guns, but pricey.
One thing I figured out with the .22LR is you have to shoot about 5 rounds to "season" the barrel. You will see your second groups usually be better. Nice plinking now I want to take mine back out lol
I was wondering if that barrel had a regular chamber or a match grade chamber. A regular chamber is long enough so that cartridges that use longer cases, such as Stingers, won't jam the case mouth into the throat of the chamber. Match chambers are cut shorter so a standard length case comes just short of the throat. This pushes the bullet firmly into the troat for better accuracy. Cartridges with lighter bullets often use longer cases to make up the overall length. Theß longer cases can jam into the throat and cause accuracy issues. Might be why the cartridges with the very light weight bullets shot poorly.
Ammo marked standard velocity is subsonic, usually between 1000-1075 fps and sonic is little over 1100 fps, the Wildcat has always been inconsistent to me, but best performers are almost always been CCI the mini mags are consistent along with the standard velocity and they have one marked green label or something like that
Remington is making decent now since the company did the switch around. The newest Winchesters are a lot better than they were just a few yrs ago also. I don't skip over either one now a days when the price is right.
I have a Ruger precision 22lr bolt rifle with Arken scope and bipod. Off bipod and sand sock, that rifle with Aguila Super extra 40 gr will shoot a 15 shot ragged hole group at 50 yrds. It will pretty much stack a 15 shot group with Eley Club 40 gr. The Eley is the most accurate I have found for it.
Got some Rem Golden HP and found real nice performance. I won'con't use Win 333 or similar, they have QC issues. Norma ECO Speed or Power (fragmenting) are zinc bullets. I've seen good results with Aguilla and Blazer, consistent bullet form and accuracy.
Big difference from your old 10/22 to your Custom 10/22 nice group over all I found out that the Remington Gold patterns best out of my 10/22 also (all standard equipment in mine) with in 1 1/2 group 100 yards
I have had what, before this vid, seemed to be uniquely excellent performance with golden bullets, every 22 I have does well and my 3 marlins seem to prefer the stuff...
My 10/22 LOVES CCI SV, but I've got an E.R. Shaw bull barrel w/ Tony kidd buffer, hornet customs trigger, tactical solutions charging handle + extended mag release and a Boyd's blaster stock, Harris bi-pod and Centerpoint scope.
I was hoping you'd test out a bunch of different ammo. Surprised the groups were as consistant as they were. Mine puts out giant groups with bulk stuff and tightens up pretty well with good ammo. Yours are all basically ok.
I have been contemplating doing some upgrades to my Ruger Precision rimfire. I spend all of my money on new guns, and struggle to set money aside for modifications past a nice scope. Going tomorrows to pick up a Christensen Ranger. I am curious to see how it does, since the reviews are pretty split.
Great video. Not a 10/22 but my Remington 597 heavy barrel loves those 36gr HP Golden Bullets as well! I wonder how your Ruger would like the CCI mini mag 36gr varmint rounds.
Some nice groups. I shoot a lot of the CCI standard. It would be nice to see you shoot some S K ammo with it. The S K standard plus works very well for me. When i can find it. Thanks for the video.
Brother i was wondering if your Remingtons are new production Vista or if they are older stock? My Ruger factory barrel loves the super extra so that is my go to now days well that and mini mags. I have a Marlin bolt gun that i haven't shot in years but i used to put a lot of squirrel eyes out with using Winchester power points. It's crazy how one guns can differ from another but you gotta love a good ol' 22lr.
WhoTeeWho.. aka Adam.. These bullet test are some of my favorite videos! How many milk jugs is number one 😜 Very impressive groups brother.. nice looking 22 too :)
My favorite .22 ammo of all time was Winchester Wildcats, can't find it in .22 anymore however. I put it head to head against 8 kinds of ammo many years ago, and it was far superior to all the others
I have a Brownells 10/22 with a tactical solution barrel getting 3/4 inch group at a hundred with Aguilera super . Killing pigs at 104 yards in the ear
I have a 10-22 with a shilen target barrel with some trigger work and it doesn't shoot as good as yours does. No telling what yours would do with good premium ammo and not the bulk stuff!
Beware of Ruger mags!! I have 2 each of the Ruger 15 and 25 round magazines. None of them fit properly in any of my Ruger .22 rifles. The 10 round rotary mags all fit well and never cause failure to feed problems, but all of the 15 and 25's continually cause those problems. Because of my state's ignorant gun laws, Ruger can only replace them with 10 rounders.
Great video 👍👍🇺🇲goes to show that it's definitely not good to directly correlate expense and brand names of ammo to performance. Nice shooting by the way!

Really can’t beat 22, whole lotta fun. Can’t believe Rem Gold won, nicely done.

Agree on white box Federal for my 1972 standard grade fa tory 10-22. No jams if mantained. Point of im. touch.

For my 10/22 eley club is my favorite and federal auto match actually runs very close second being a bull pack ammo.

Thanks for using some of our Winchester ammo. Thomas.

I agree. But..I have ran into more than one box of mini mags that were shockingly inconsistent recently.
What an awesome .22 LR setup.

Grew up with a Ruger 10/22. Fun times. Thanks WTW!
Great video my friend and that looks like a really fun rifle !
I believe that 10/22 is biased towards the Remington ammo. It didn't like the Winchester very much. 🤔🤔🤔
I’ve had really nice grouping with the American eagles. Basically look the same as the Aguila rounds
Should have treated some Aguila super extra 40gr. My CZ 455 likes those and the cci standard velocity.
Theses ammo tests are awesome, thanks WTW

I am surprised that the Remington Golden were the best group. Cannot wait for the subsonic test.
Cci work very well in my hopped up 10/22 with a Volquartsen barrel bolt and trigger group and Boyd’s stock
Why use subsonic when the heavy cci stuff is already subsonic and shoots ~1/2MOA. Speed of sound is 1125fps
Such a good video the 10/22 is a fun little plinker and that one is really nice👍
Out of my 4 ruger 22's, all of them hate the norma ecospeed. They love the tac22 and the match22. The 40gr superx is loved by my 10/22
